Stayed here for a 2 day short trip to almora. location is great no issues with it. market is walking distance. rooms are big and spacious. view from the window and backyard is breathtaking. the building is old and beautiful, which adds to the charm of the place. the best thing is that you get home cooked food. we were... The rooms are beautiful and big but very cold in winter. We had a little heater that did not manage to heat the room. But except for that, mountain view from the windows of the hotel and therrace is divine, food is homemade and fantastic and the staff was extremely friendly and hospitable.

We stayed overnight in October and had an enormous room upstairs with wooden floors and simple but more than adequate facilities. We felt it had loads of atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming. It is set down from the road and was very peaceful although I suspect it could be noisy if the building was full of local Tourists.... More

If you do visit Almora without a doubt make it a point to stop over at this beautiful Mansion. As many have mentioned earlier the highlight is clearly the rustic and warm Mansion with a view that literally takes your breathe away . For all those who dream of taking a weekend away to just bask in the sun just... More

I would suggest skipping Almora altogether if you are visiting Kumayon for its serene beauty. The town area is a winding narrow dirty road bordered by delipated shanty type shops and eateries. Except for a restaurant at the Shikhar hotel, none of the eateries were inviting enough to warrant an entry. There are 2 temples one can visit if one... More

If you are travelling to Almora then think of no other place. This is a privately owned, 103 years old, mansion having 7 rooms on 1st floor for the guests. It has a beautiful Lawn from which you the view is to die for. Room in which we stayed was huge with huge bathroom, was simple but comfy giving you... More

One of the best locations of almora is Khazanchand Mansion. Most of the view points and the market place is within walking distance. The personalized hospitality extended by Mr. Nazir, Ms. Anjum and all the smiling staff members of the hotel turned the weekend into a fabulous holiday. The food prepared by them is excellent. Do insist on tasting biryani... More

The rooms are huge and you get an excellent view of snow capped peaks right from the hotel! The food is custom made and tastes like good home made food. Ideal for a quiet family outing...located just a km away from the hustling city markets. Courteous and prompt staff. Simply decorated rooms.. decor can be improved and modernized. Overall a... More

The property is heritage but seems to be run down and neglected. The bed, cushions, sofas, furniture and even the furnishings give a dull stare at you. The place has a huge prospect if someone just takes a little care. The look outside the window of the Kozy Korner is absolutely marvelous and so is sitting outside in the backyard... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A majestic mansion nestling in the hills …Khazanchand Mansion which is a fabled picturesque double storied heritage stone structure located in Almora- an enchanting hill station, the first to be set up by the British in 1815. The Mansion has a quaint colonial charm with its outsized ethnic bedrooms and a rare prominent view of the breathtaking Himalayan peaks such as Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda Ghunte, Mrigthuni, Maiktoli amidst others. Along with this the scenic beauty of the eye catching sunset and the wide resplendent valley below leaves one amazed at their splendor. The mansion was built by the famous Dr. Khazanchand and has also been christened after him.The Mansion's structure has a magnificent frontage with stucco colonades, wooden flooring & ceiling and rough hewn stone walls giving it the flavour of an original British Colonial Architecture. In yester years, legends such as Jawahar Lal Nehru, Uday Shankar, Sumitra Nandan Pant to name a few have enjoyed its hospitality which is now open to one and all.We would recommend you to do nothing, just nothing the first day you are with us at The Heritage, which is the best thing in the city weary need-just breath the fresh air, soak in the sun and view the Himalayas. Even during the winter one can simply enjoy the snow covered landscape from the window of our heritage hotel’s cozy heated rooms. It is no doubt an experience one has to savour to believe. So, why the speculation-just make a bee-line for The Heritage, you will never regret it – that is a promise!! ... more   less
