Nestled in the quiet wilderness of Ranikhet, the cottage aptly to its name, provides you glimpses of life in the Indian Navy at 1800ft. Overlooking the valley it offers a breathtaking view of the mountain ranges and the pine forest below. We had visited Ranikhet in May ‘15 and had the whole cottage to ourselves. The interiors are tastefully done...

The Himalayan Anchor is a comfortable and cozy place. The cottage is built tastefully and meets the expectations of the guests. Ganesh, the caretaker, is caring and helpful and cooks healthy and homely meals. As the market is nearby, we enjoyed the delicious and juicy mountain fruits! The Children's Park near the market was a good pass time for our...

I stayed at Himalayan Anchor for 3 nights with 2 of my friends. We had an entire cottage to ourselves. I have stayed at many onbeat and offbeat abodes across the globe, from costiliest to cheapest, scenic to chaotic - there is no match for this Himalayan Anchor. The unobstracted view to snow clad mountains is exhilarating, nostalgic and invigorating. Absolute cosy, warm and modern home feeling. Must stay for PEACE OF MIND

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
After spending years in the beauty of the coastal land and lapping sea and with it its infinite beauty, the naval commander gathered some courage to speak to his wife - he loved the mountains and would like to retire there. High, but not too high, private, but not inaccessible, panoramic view but unobstructed, cool but not cold, homely but still professional, in wilderness but connected, green but not a jungle, water but not too much...he searched and searched and searched. Years passed by and then one day he found it!!! An built his dream cottage, and like a true seafarer named it - The Himalayan Anchor. ... more   less

“Since mountain houses don't have fans but its warmer now everywhere..use the cross ventilation of windows :). Rooms and bathrooms on both floors are pretty similar. Ground floor opens into a living room with attached kitchen on one side and a balcony ( overlooking hills) on the other and the first floor opens into a small lounge place on one side and a balcony on the other.”
