This place is temporarily closed due to renovation. Palazzo Farrattini is a unique jewel of the Italian Renaissance started exactly 5 centuries ago by the famous Architech Antonio Da Sangallo the youngest. Still a property of the family, the Palazzo opens its doors to the guests who look for the authentical charme of the period when it was built. During the summer of 2014 various events will celebrate this important anniversary.

We were fortunate enough to spend a month at the Palazzo Farrattini in the summer of 2016 when we were on an alumni trip to Italy. The Palazzo is stunningly beautiful, rich in atmosphere and history but with every modern comfort and convenience. Ettore Farrattini was a thoroughly attentive and kind host; he is also a wonderful human being, and our lives are much richer for knowing him. Although the Palazzo is currently closed for renovations, we know that it will be up and running again one day, and we can't wait to go back. Grazie mille, Ettore.

Wow, just as wonderful as our first visit. A magnificent edifice and the first class hospitality of the wonderful owner, Ettore Farrattini. What a privilege it was to stay in his family's palazzo in the Room of the Bishop. Highly recommended, but any of the rooms would be the select room at any other lodging. If you enjoy staying in an historic site with incredible appointments and objects of art and value the opportunity to experience impeccable service, eureka, you have found what you are looking for at Palazzo Farrattini!

We spent a week here and it was not enough! The Palazzo is breath taking and Ettore was so helpful about where to go and what to do. You can take day trips to other towns in Umbria from Amelia. We went to Narni and Spoleto. Or you can just enjoy exploring the charming town of Amelia.

Being a guest at this amazing 500 year old Palazzo, home to so many generations of the noble Farrattini family, including some cardinals and even a couple popes is an unforgettable experience. It is indeed a palace, and staying there one feels like royalty. It is filled with ancient art and period furniture, and provides also the comforts of modern plumbing and electricity, even wifi. The views are incomparable, pool and gardens splendid, and the small hill town of Amelia in Umbria, is fascinating. Best of all is being made to feel so very welcome by Ettore Farrattini. This unpretentious young man is actually a count, but treats his guests like family. Spending time with him and his good friends Scott, Clara and visiting opera singer Robin was the best of all. This place is worth a detour. Don't miss it.

The service here was impeccable during the entire month we stayed here. Ettore is a gentle, sophisticated, personable host, who joined us for breakfast, told us wonderful stories about life in Italy, good-heartedly answered our questions, served delicious meals--and cheerfully did our laundry as often as we wished. The palazzo, Ettore's 500-year old family home, is drop-dead gorgeous, with 30-foot ceilings, beautiful paintings, landscaped gardens, and a refreshing swimming pool nestled tastefully beyond a berm out back. There is wifi throughout and air-conditioning in the spacious, comfortable, well-appointed rooms, which feature dignified decoratively carved antique furniture. We weren't surprised to learn that Ettore is a deeply skilled furniture restorer and his partner Scott an international interior designer! We felt so lucky to have found this gem, tucked into the gem that is the friendly town of Amelia. Hope to return someday!
