It would appear that the Lodge is busy with refurbishing, which is obviously overdue, judging by the condition of the passage-ways. However, we decided to pay the extra for a river facing room and were not disappointed. The bathroom had been recently upgraded and had a bath and a separate large shower cubicle which was a plus. the big surprise...

We made reservations for Jan but due to an accident we could not use our reservations. No refunds given , so I decided to book again for May. I was told I had a credit and the booking was made. Arriving later than anticipated we recieved a very warm welcome. No porter but we trunched our luggage up to our...

Setting is wonderful for people wanting to fish, be on the beach and do boating. Accommodation for us was in the budget rooms......price for a couple was good. We had a pizza in the restaurant/bar which was value for money. We did not have breakfast the next day as it was expensive for what was in offer.

Great resort to stay in if you love fishing in rivers as the Breede is one of the best river fishing spots in the Western Cape. Great place for bird lovers and nature lovers. The Lodge has a great restaurant and pub facing the river and sea, this place is further than far out.

The lodge overlooks the Breede almost at the mouth - stunning views. A lovely place to relax with a family for a weekend, swim in the pool, braai, or eat at the restaurant next door. Lots of other things to do in the area, especially for a fisherman. Great spot and great value for money, we'll be back!

Great getaway. Been here a few times and found the room we had ( 305) better than the riverfront rooms we have stayed before.Rooms have a kitchenette where one can make breakfast as its not included. For supper ( they serve breakfast as well ) there is a restaurant on the premises as well one a few km away. Room...

I like this place. It's on the river, has relaxing/low key accommodation, a restaurant and bar, you can go fishing, there is a local market on the weekends, there is the beach, nearby restaurants. There is plenty to do out this way.

The facilities are overall good and staff are great. All typical amenities are provided for. In general however the place could do with a freshening up. In particular the noise generated by boaters mooring directly in front could be better mitigated with double glazed sliding doors.

Musty odour on the lower floors is distressing and needs to be addressed. Toiletries should be standard in bathrooms (soap, shampoo and conditioner). View from upper floor (with fireplace) and general location is fantastic!!! Could be so much better.

We booked a three bedroom apartment and we very disppointed by the facility. The downstairs bedrooms were musty and smelt badly of damp. When I drew the attention of the receptionist to this she told me it was just the thatch and the air freshner they used!!The upstairs bedroom had only two bedside lamps working and when I asked to...

We are situated in Witsand / Port Beaufort "THE" Whale nursery of South Africa on the Garden Route midway between Cape Town and Plettenberg Bay, on the unspoiled bank of the mighty Breede River. The water course is tidal and navigable for up to 40 km. The area is a mariner's dream both on the river and the sea. Angling features as the number one attraction with many record breaking catches over the years as will be seen on the Breede River Lodge Wall of Fame. Safe tranquil beaches for walking and swimming. Beautiful in the windless and mild winter days. The area is also renowned for all kinds of water sport, swimming, surfing, wind surfing, deep sea and river fishing, rock, boat and fly fishing, river cruises, canoeing, sailing, spear fishing and snorkeling. With all of this in mind the hotel endeavors to cater both for the local family traveler and the international traveler who would like to see a part of the real South Africa. Experience friendly village life that offers food for the soul and a place to simply relax and unwind. We are ideally situated on the Garden Route as a middle point and base from which to travel and experience the vast arrays of attractions available on this route.
