We arrived at Le Clos after a 6 hour drive from SW France. The proprietor was enthusiastic and warm in his welcome. We had a menu with a wide selection of teas & coffee from which to choose, and at at 4pm I was also hungry. Alas, 'nothing to eat' was the swift response and all that could be found... More

We love Le Clos, as is obvious from our many visits and reviews. It is beautiful and the food is excellent but more than this, it is run by two of the nicest hoteliers you could wish to meet. We took my father-in-law over for a weekend recently. He is a splendidly fun 86 year old who is pretty fit... More

We have not had the opportunity to visit Les Clos recently so it was good to get back. The building and the gardens are immaculate, and make a great first impression. We booked room 17, a garden room, as we had our dog with us. This makes for easy " walkies" in the morning. The room was to the highest... More

Yes it still exists in some rare places in the world, deep in the countryside of Normandy you enter deep into the heart and culture of France with old fashioned dedication to quality and service in every little detail without compromise...

After a 400 mile journey from the UK, Le Clos is a great end to the journey. Welcomed the moment we stepped from our car by proprietor , Eric we were upgraded to a suite which was well appointed and spotlessly clean. An aperitif in the new conservatory was followed by a delightful meal , with a fine wine list... More

From the moment one arrives, you know that Le Clos is going to be special. The attention to detail is seen everywhere, from the warm welcome by Eric and Odile, to the well appointed clean rooms and the beautiful gardens, to the delicious cuisine. Dinners were exceptional, bravo to the chef. We just returned from our third visit to Le... More

…as they say in this charming part of southern Normandy and that is certainly what Le Clos is – being small, perfectly formed and very useful. Useful as a stop-over while driving cross-country through France, useful as the most wonderful restaurant with lodging attached and useful for the very warm, hospitable and sincere welcome. I cannot recommend this place highly... More

Stayed for four nights at Le Clos in the gorgeous Normandy countryside -- the postcard-perfect medieval town of Verneuil sur Avre. A great base for excursions to the WW2 landing beaches, Bayeux, Rouen, and all the other sights of Normandy, plus all the attractions just west of Paris (Versailles, Chartres, etc.) are only an hour to the southeast. Proprietors Eric... More

Having family in the area we wanted to choose somewhere special for a family dinner and we were enchanted to find this little haven, a beautiful Norman Manor house. We were received upon arrival by the charming owners who made us feel so welcome. It was so touching to see how much they loved their property and their business. We... More

We have been guests at this hotel twice in the past 5 years which is set in beautiful grounds. The rooms and bathrooms are stylish, well appointed, quiet, clean and comfortable. The restaurant offers a delicious dining experience in a stylish but warm setting. Breakfast in the new sun room is highly recommended. The owners are very hospitable going out... More

Le ClosL'histoire started around 1770,*When the nuns of the Abbey of Saint-Nicolas bought the land under the old regime called "The garden of the Beguine". Bordered by the remains of city walls and a tower called the white tower, the plots became peasant gardens. A century later, in 1886 - under the protection of a gentleman benefactor of the Abbey of Saint-Nicolas - a Castel was born. The Benedictine nuns began hosting families opened a school for girls of the abbey. The round tower and the square pavilion, pepper-pot roofs and four slopes, false battlements and tall chimneys, windows and doors decorated with braces, and a harmonious example of architectural style Viollet-Le-Duc.The mansion was an inspiration for the architect to draw on the exceptional tower houses that adorn the town of Verneuil since the fifteenth century.
