The place is surprising. Very close to the sea but only reachable after travelling on a very bad road. You need a good car! Nice little beach, nice rooms, very good mojitos!!! The only silly thing is the quality of the food in the restaurant. So sad!

It's 22 kidney rattling kms down a terrible road out of Baracoa, but the property itself is an oasis. There are 12 rooms in three cabanas, all with sea views. Yes there are some issues (lights went out several times.... but it's Cuba!) and they have a generator. There is VERY GOOD wifi, and even CNN on the TV. The food in the restaurant was nothing special, but the breakfasts were hearty, and the property is meticulously maintained, the small beach was sugar sand and clean, and the water was warm. It was a perfect end to two weeks in Cuba.

.... old room with interior in really bad condition (2 of 4 lamps are not working, fan is not working, no toilet seat, etc.). Seems like the best days of this place are over. The lagune is nice but to be honest that's all. We had dinner at this place. Unfortunately it was raining and we had to eat inside. the windows keept open and within two minutes the room was filled with tousands of mosquitos. Food was completly canned food including the fruits as dessert. Defnitly the worth we had in 3 weeks Cuba. Staff is friendly. If you compare this place and it's price to other casas in Baracoa it's not worth to go there.

Villa Maguana is a beautiful spot. Very specially located. You can't live closer to the beach. All of the staff was very, very friendly and helpful. E.g. Elvis organized a third bed for our daughter for a reasonable price. The two dinners we had there, were very delicious and reasonable in price. The breakfast was tasty and the setting can't be any better. Everything was very clean and in good shape. Really nothing to complain about as far as the accommodation and its services are concerned. Only the road from Baracoa to Moa is a disaster. But as they are currently building a huge bridge over the river, some 10 km before Villa Maguana they surely will pave the path soon. Whenever this will be.

A great place to come and get away from traffic and noice. This hotel is around 45 min with a taxi (20 cuc) from Baracoa. There's 3 houses with 4 rooms each. Clean and spacious rooms with AC. Nice balcony with furniture to relax on and listen to the ocean. The breakfast is not much to enjoy sadly. We had one dinner and one lunch at the restaurant and that food was good. There is good paladars around the hotel and beach that you can walk to. The small private hotell beach is great and it's a little paradise. Just around the corner is the public beach and its very nice there also but as many other beaches around the world you will meet people who wants to sell you things. We had a great stay at this hotel and would love to come back! Just hope that they can get a little better breakfast and it would have been a 5 star rating instead of 4.

My friend and I had chosen this as a chill down 3 nights after our travels overland from Havana. Arriving to this outpost after around an hour drive from town was heaven. The rooms are spacious and lovely and clean with A/C, and balconies with a sea view. The surrounding grounds are really lovely too- lots of places to sit and relax under palm trees etc. The staff were great and made a huge effort to make our trip special. A nice small private beach, on the property is lovely, food is nothing special but you can walk over to the public beach easily if you want to - Ask for Roger and eat amazing prawns. Overall a really pleasant place to be for a couple of days - NO more than that unless you are a dedicated beach lover. Not sure on value for money as we paid with a package but it's a nice spot regardless. I would not recommend an internal flight from Baracoa - We were delayed 9 hours for 2 hour flight - Take more time / juggle your itinerary and go back overland.

Out-of-this world location and gorgeous rooms. This made the perfect relaxing 4 day stop after a crazy 2 weeks of public transport and cities travelling around Cuba. Proper white sand and clear blue sea with the waves lapping just a few metres away while you eat your breakfast. However, we were left feeling that this place really doesn't make the most of its potential. The service was perfectly polite but felt almost reluctant. The food was pretty average and we ended up taking most of our meals further down the beach (highly recommend Cafe Pulpo and the next place along from it for delicious fresh seafood). We were staying in simple casas for the rest of our trip and don't expect great luxury, but at this price and in this location it felt like there should be a bit more effort in terms of providing information and services to guests. Had a really lovely time nonetheless and would definitely recommend it. BRING CASH!

I can't spend the whole review t we piling you how long it took us to get here as it is too funny and you need to know how fantastic this Eco Hotel in the wilds of Cuba is. Let's just say that if you flight gets cancelled, you jump on a flight 2/3 across Cuba and spend $180CUC on an 8 hour taxi ride....the view is worth the distance and the money. I will never forget the views. Villa Maguana is the most remote and incredible hotel I've ever been to. We awoke after travelling a long distance in a taxi to turquoise waters and it felt like a personal paradise. The food was divine and the cocktails delicious. I was very impressed with the sustainable building and it was worth the extra distance to enjoy the unspoilt views. We sat on the outpost with a banister in front of us, enjoying fresh coconuts and being cooled by the occasional sea spray. Once in a while tut our get totally covered but in the heat you welcome it! This hotel is about an hour from Baracoa on really bad roads. If Yuri our haven't got a car its expensive to get about but honestly it's amazing. If you see people complaining because the food options are limited its because it is what was caught that day. If you want a full menu and non stop cocktails go to Varadero. If you want a glimpse of the place Christopher Colombus first discovered in Cuba come here. It's proper travelling and you will be rewarded with unspoilt tranquillity. Come quickly as soon the roads will improve and the secret will be out! The colour of the sea is incredible & you won't be able to stop taking photos, but the stunning rooms, spacious beds and friendly staff are what make the treatment during your stay 5 star. The best place we stayed in Cuba hands down.

My boyfriend and I booked to stay for 2 nights here in July- luckily we ended up being the ONLY people staying here! We couldn't believe our luck. It really is a beautiful, unspoilt place- the "hotel" has it's own small beach- gorgeous for us as a couple, but I can imagine if the whole place was full it might be a little busy. The rooms are really great- lovely and clean, cool (with a bit of air-con action) and great balconies with lovely sea view. The surrounding grounds are really lovely too- lots of places to sit and relax under palm trees etc. The staff were great- obviously we were the only people to attend to so they might have been a bit bored! But they were really pleasant, kind and made a huge effort to make our trip special. It was nice, it didn't feel at all like a resort. I only have two complaints: 1. They were painting/refurbing the outside areas while we were there and for some reason they used an air compressor and spray gun to do all the painting- this was very noisy and went on all day for both days pretty much. We sat as far away from it on the beach, but god knows how some of the people who came for lunch could stand it. We thought perhaps it was because they didn't realise we were coming (they did seems quite shocked when we turned up with our booking voucher!) and so had planned to do it while they were quiet, but either way it was a bit inconvenient of them. 2. The food wasn't great. I think they really should make a bit more effort with the menu- for a place that is so beautiful with such great staff they really need to sort that element of it out. I don't think it is even the cook's fault- I think they need to sort out a great menu of fresh, simple food. Anyway, despite the above we had a great time and I would recommend this place- maybe at the low season if you want privacy/solitude like we did.

Picturesque private beach and quiet grounds. Spacious room, clean and no maintenance issues. Food in the main good. Staff friendly and helpful. Chickens friendly too! Well situated for enjoying the rich wildlife of this area. We were travelling around the south east of Cuba studying and photographing butterflies We stayed two nights and I was able to swim in the sea each day - not windy or rough.
