After a long weekend away with my husband staying at one of the three (brand new) Suite Igloos in January 2020 of the Levin Iglut Golden Crown, we couldn’t wait to go back with our four children to share the experience! While we didn’t get to see the Aurora Borealis, the serene nature, the many activities and the immense comfort of our igloo made it worth it nonetheless. We went snowshoeing (courtesy of the hotel, just like the sleds), ice karting and made a mental note to hit the (lit) slopes. The staff of the Levin Iglut was very accommodating and even looked after our sleeping infant while we were having dinner at the Aurora Sky restaurant. A sumptuous welcome basket was waiting for us in our igloo consisting of wines, champagne, crackers, cheeses, etc, which we enjoyed all weekend. We topped off our weekend with a toast "to a wonderful stay" in the jacuzzi with amazing views of the valley. For a little insight in the more “standard hotel features”; The king size double bed was strategically placed in the middle of the igloo permitting all around views of the outdoors. The breakfast was copious, continental with a Scandinavian touch and the cosmetic amenities were all by Rituals for an additional moment of indulgence! We can’t wait for our upcoming stay in the Northern Lights, to share the experience with all four of our children and perhaps even get to see the Aurora Borealis this time around!

Let me start by saying that our igloo was phenomenal and beyond our expectations. It was incredibly spacious, very well furnished, extremely comfortable and very well stocked with supplies and we had more than sufficient tea, coffee and bathroom product. It was truly an experience we will never forget. The restaurant was really nice especially if you manage to get a table upstairs and I have to say the quality of the breakfast was superb and quite obviously made from very high quality ingredients. So why only a four star rating? To fully appreciate the night sky you need darkness and the hotel state they turn off the lights once darkness arrives, which indeed they did by turning off all of the walkway lighting. However, for some reason they left the huge neon lighted sign which showed the name of the hotel (which incidentally would not of been visible from the road) shining bright until almost midnight, rather defeating the object of the exercise of turning off the walkway lighting. Also and although not anything to do with the hotel there was a large new property across the road which was also brightly lit, which it would be an idea for the Hotel owners to negotiate with the property owners to also have these lights dimmed. Sadly all this bright light put a bit of a dampener on our enjoyment of what should be a breathtaking experience. That said we totally loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again if the lighting problem was resolved.

Went here as an incredibly special treat during our stay in Finland. Yes it was pricey and beyond what we’d normally do but we wanted this to be a special experience and it certainly was that. The team went out of their way to be helpful and support as and when required. The taxis came quickly and helped us get into town for the trips we’d booked onto. The restaurant was also special - again we were expecting this and had planned accordingly The snug igloo with the fireplace is also worth a mention. Great place to chill out. The igloo itself was super - although having one at the back did mean that others lights on spoiled some views we managed fine. If anything the accommodation was too warm! I would say it would have been nice for the coffee supplies to have been filled during our time. We had to ration the tea bags for instance and ran out of milk. Not quite sure why - in this type of place - this didn’t happen when the igloo was checked daily by the team. An amazing special time and whilst it was weak we did see the aurora. Thank you to all the team for making it such an amazing adventure.

We booked here as part of a trip to Finland for our honeymoon. We stayed in 2 different places, and unfortunately, Golden Crown was a real disappointment. Accommodation: The igloo itself was beautiful. We paid A LOT more money for one of the 3 suite igloos, and it did not disappoint with regards to the finish of the igloo (new this year) and the uninterrupted views over the valley. The only complaint we had was that when you use the shower, the entire bathroom floods with water, so not very well thought out from that point of view. All in all though, we were pleased with the accommodation and VERY pleased we booked the suite igloo. It is not worth booking the other igloos as they all back onto each other and they are very squashed in, so not the experience most would expect when booking to stay here. The igloos are made from highly reflective glass, so it's not easy to see out from your bed, you mostly just see the light reflecting from the other igloos. You really have to go outside to see the Northern Lights/night sky. Service: Annoyingly for us, soon after check in, we found that the roof of our igloo was leaking, so there was a large wet patch on the bed. After highlighting it to the staff, they offered to move us to a standard igloo (no offer to refund the difference in price) or give us some towels to sleep on... not the customer service I would expect!!! The next day, they did agree to move us to another suite igloo due to continued leaking. It was sold to us as a unique, bespoke place to stay... unique, yes, it's not very often you get to stay in a glass igloo, but there are so many igloos now (over 25) that it feels more like a corporate enterprise and you definitely feel that in the service. It advertises being 'family owned' and 'family run'. It does not have that feel at all. The service is poor and it just seems no one can be bothered with anything. I am 4 months pregnant and no one helped with bags to and from the igloo in the deep snow. They really didn't do anything to make our stay more enjoyable. One of the days, we had no housekeeping when we got in from skiing, so I had to phone (on my UK mobile as there is no phone in your igloo) and request it. They came very quickly, made the bed and promptly left. On booking, we were told that someone from the hotel would be able to drop us 10 mins down the road to the ski hill. On arrival, the hotel said they wouldn't do this, and gave us a taxi number instead. Again, I just felt like that in a place like this, when you pay as much money as you are, it's the little things that would make a big difference. Food: The food was awful in the Aurora Sky Restaurant. They obviously don't really expect people to stay more than 1/2 nights, as on night 3, we just had to repeat the same menus as they didn't have anything else. My vegetarian options were extremely salty, to the point most was inedible. The breakfast in the morning was OK, but a generic buffet with not all that much to choose from. No option of anything freshly cooked... again, more evidence that they just cannot be bothered to do anything more than the bare minimum. In the evenings, the restaurant just try way too hard to be something they clearly are not. It is a very stuffy setting which actually made us unconformable, so we asked to sit downstairs by the fire in a more casual setting. The food is just completely over the top, everything has a 'foam' on and they mess with the flavours far too much that it actually makes the food unpleasant with the bizzare mix of flavours. My husband and I were both unwell after eating here for 2 nights and dreaded the evening meals! We definitely fell for the lure of a glass igloo and the uniqueness of the experience, which was a lovely thing to do, but I would not recommend staying here. There are far better places in Finland you can stay, and for less money than here. Book somewhere else!!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. Your feed back has great value for us. We are still quite small igloo village, and we are constantly trying to improve our services. One of our key values is to create experiences of lifetime to our guests. Surely this we failed to do with your stay. I am deeply sorry that the ceiling was leaking and our staff failed to inform correctly of the refund of the change - Im afraid we only had superior igloo available for the first night to move you into and for the rest of your stay of course we moved you to another Suite igloo as agreed. I am sorry to hear that this was misinformed to you. Our restaurant is very popular at the area and therefore I am sorry to hear you did not find our restaurant and menu good. We try to improve the food and beverage quality constantly - also vegetarian options. Our kitchen is very accommodating and does new portions if there is any complaints. It seems there were several factors where we failed to meet your expectations, I will go through these carefully with our staff to improve our services. We will contact you via your travel agency. Kind regards, Resort Manager

The room is what you are paying for and it was worth it. I did lots of research and for the price found this to offer the best in terms of privacy and facility. The room was really nice, views beautiful (number 18) and we were lucky to see the Aurora. It is close to the ski resort also. 2 small bottles of bubbly in the room was a very nice touch. The room is well equipt although small. The heating system is a little annoying as it makes noise but this cannot be helped. Breakfast was a little disappointing, not so much variety and space is small for seating and so the area gets a bit too busy and loud. The meal we had at the onsite restaurant was very disappointing, over priced and not good. The worst meal we had in our 2 weeks in Finland. the restaurant is trying too hard with fancy menu, the ingredients you have in Finland are great do not mess with them. The meal is too expensive for what you get and the lighting in the restaurant is too bright and not welcoming. Drinks are over prices too.
