We've stayed here three times over the past fifteen years and it's one of our favorite places on earth. The Markland affords visitors panoramic vistas of the Cape Breton coastline featuring rugged mountains that plunge precipitously into the Atlantic Ocean. I've seen a golden eagle, a bald eagle, countless seagulls and marine birds, as well as a seal right in... More

The atmosphere here is cozy and tranquil. The cabins, which are spacious and modern (we chose a two bedroom log cabin with kitchenette) offer all the conveniences of a nice motel room, but with the rustic atmosphere of an upscale campground. The cabins are well spaced apart, over several acres. It is a short walk to the beautiful beach area... More

Situated at the half way point on the Cabot Trail, the Markland is a great place to stay whether it is for summer beach fun or autumn colours. The cabins are rustic with top quality beds and linens! The view is spectacular! Breakfast was included and we enjoyed a delicious dinner as well! The service was top notch! Great for... More

Quiet, comfortable stay, Great food, outstanding staff. Excellent views of the ocean and sandy beaches. A peaceful environment yet casual enough allowing guests to experience a relaxing and meaningful rest. There are many walks to enjoy as well as places to sit and reflect or read one of your favorite authors.

The cabins are older and two bedroom cabin has three rooms, all of which must be accessed from the front porch. The views from the porch are simply beautiful. The staff was very friendly. The on premise restaurant served food that probably better than it had to be considering any other option was miles away.

We were most excited to stay here out of all of our stays on our 4 day trip in Cape Breton, the location seemed incredible. After a very busy day touring the Park, we arrived just at dusk so we didn't really get a chance to take in the full beauty of our surroundings. We had booked a 'log room'... More

We stayed at a B&B in Cape North and were warned by the proprietor to eat dinner before we arrived as there was only one restaurant available, the restaurant at the Markland cottages. Because we had been driving a lot this day we took our chances at the Markland, this was not a mistake. The mussels were fresh and cooked... More

We found out about this place from a couple from Vancouver we met while in Lunenburg. They stayed there while on the Cabot Trail and loved it. We were able to book a night and it did not disappointed. Everything about this place was amazing. The staff was very friendly. The location was unforgettable - located at the end of... More

Didn't stay overnight as we stayed at a bed and breakfast. The food was fantastic. Fresh pan fried haddock with vegetables. Fresh home made apple pie and ice cream for dessert. Not a lot of restaurants around the area and this one was a jewel.
