Fantastic place, very helpful and friendly staff. We stayed Aug 13-16th. The log room included an amazing breakfast, the pastry chef, Adrienne makes outstanding scones and cinnamon rolls - yummy! Only one small thing, a fridge and microwave in the log rooms would be very helpful since the restaurant was only opened for breakfast and dinner. We are going back... More

I chose the Markland for our 40th anniversary. They advertised great views and fine dining. The views were amazing. I chose a log room because they wouldn't guarantee an ocean view for the cottages. The room was comfortable but the walls were paper thin. Pets are allowed so we were treated to our neighbor's dog barking if they were out.... More

This is a great place to stay for a couple of days, and explore the great sights and hikes the Cape Breton national park has to offer, as it is located midway the Cabot Trail. We stayed there for 3 days. We, a family of 4 with younger children, stayed in cabin 1, which was sadly tucked away in the... More

Drove around the Cabot Trail. Booked the cottage a week before not knowing what to expect. Pulled up to lovely cottages with an indescribable view. Friendly welcoming staff. Food smelled great in the restaurant so we made reservations. Was delicious local food and drink - and waitstaff took care of us all night. Cool mini cabins lack hotel style amenities... More

Stayed one night while traversing Cabot Trail. Remote location right on shore. Somewhat rustic room with small bathroom but clean and big enough for our need. No TV which was a plus. We walked on beach and spoke with another family from the area. Beach walk was beautiful and fascinating to watch egress in channel from nearby tidal pool, with... More

We arrived as parents with 2 teenage girls biking the Cabot Trail, coming up from the Keltic Lodge with next day plans for Cheticamp. Proprietor Allison (? i'm hopeless with names) herself a triathlete, offered to personally drive our panniers to our next accommodations...need i write more? One of us accepted with guilt, the others completely guilt free. Load thus... More

Our two night stay here was disappointing. We had chosen the "log room". One might call it "rustic" but not in a nice way. The shiny log walls shown in the photos were dull and unfinished with sap dripping down in two spots on the bathroom wall. The lighting was dingy and the room & bathroom were dark. The blinds... The mind instantly slows as you enter this tranquil property, which is nestled along the ocean. The view is breathtaking. The cottages are well appointed and care has been taken to include high-end linens, heavenly pillows and comfy beds. If you want some of the freshest and best prepared seafood on the Island - this is the location. The breads... More

More than pleasantly surprised by the accommodations! We had rooms 20-21-22 (one whole cabin) where the middle was a kitchen & dining table that also had a sofa bed & bathroom (great for the kids but no connecting doors). Also room 23. We (3 couples and 2 small children) all commented on the wonderful beds and good sleeps ...might have... More

I was nervous about choosing the Markland for a two night stay for our Cape Breton trip due to descriptions from reviews such as "remote" and "quaint" which can be double edged. Then we drove up to the property, got out of the car, and our jaws all dropped with the stunning view. We rented a two BR cottage for... More
