The only problem with this one of a kind gite is that once you get here, you won't want to leave. The views are so spectacular that you might think you are staying on top of El Capitan in Yosemite. Pascal and his American wife Nancy have preserved the charm of what was once an old schoolhouse in this top... More

My wife and I stayed for 3 days in May, and really enjoyed this place. It is a B&B with a superb mountain setting. We spent 1 full day hiking the mountains, leaving directly from our front door on the GR trails. Another day we drove the loop around the Gorge de Verdon. You have excellent views of the mountains... We stayed at this place as a stop over on 28/5 - it is a nice cozy place located at the village of Chasteuil. Getting to the hotel however is a bit of a challenge. You will need to drive through a less than 2 meters dirt road (for traffic from both directions!) with several hairpin turns. The parking was... More

The day before the Hameau duChasteuil was due to open for the season I was hiking past on my way from Castellane to Rougon. Pascal responded to my query on where I may find a coffee by producing one for me. Greatly appreciated his hospitality and the amazing view from his wonderful restored schoolhouse, now a thriving B&B.

After a very adventurous drive from the main road on top of the hill (very small and tiny road, a challenge for motorcycles) we arrived in a typical rustic enclave with lovely stone houses, where our B&B was located. Pascal, the host, gave us a very warm welcome and explained everthing about the historic background of the village and how... More

Our four night stay at the Gite de Chasteuil was the best part of a 3-1/2 week vacation, which included several days in Paris. . It is quiet, beautiful, and Pascal and Nancy went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to meet our needs. It was well worth the money!. We hope to return and to... More

My wife and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in July. Chasteuil feels a world away. Quiet, old, remote, magical. A calm and peaceful spot way up a narrow winding road in the Verdon Gorge. The owner Pascal was friendly and helpful with advice on the area. Great breakfast. The building itself is old and beautiful. Our room was... More

Location The B&B is in Chasteuil, a tiny hamlet with only 20-30 inhabitants. It is surrounded by magnificent landscape and a lot of nature so you really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere although it is only 2 km to road D952 and 10 km to Castellanne, one of the biggest villages in the Verdon area. To... More

We stayed here in April with friends from the UK with whom we did the classic walk along the gorge from the Chalet Maline to Couloir Samson (2 cars required). Our friends stayed two nights and I joined them for the second after the walk. I came across it originally doing the same walk with my brother and his friends... More

We stayed in August and agree with the prior review. Rooms are basic, the view is exceptional and lovely hosts. Way up the hill- so it's an interesting drive to find it. We would stay again and it's fantastic to visit the Gorges du Verdon.

CHASTEUIL BED AND BREAKFAST INN Nancy and Pascal welcome you to their Bed and Breakfast Inn in the hamlet of Chasteuil. They have renovated the old village schoolhouse into a cosy inn where restful accommodations and delicious meals await you. Restored by its inhabitants in the local architectural tradition, Chasteuil is a tiny 16th century village located at the entrance of the Gorges du Verdon. From its south-facing location, 900 meters high in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, it overlooks the Verdon River below. "Les Gorges du Verdon", The Verdon Canyon, is one of the deepest and most spectacular in Europe.
