My travel group of 9 rented 5 apartments that were clean, quaint and simply lovely! The apartments had many amenities to enjoy during your stay. The staff was helpful, pleasant and professional. The grounds are breathtaking! The website doesnt' do it justice. We enjoyed the countryside, wine tours and lovely restaurants. Some of the apartments have an upstairs. The common areas were spacious & can accommodate any season or occasion. There are also tables & outside the apartments to enjoy your meals & wine surrounded by beautiful flowers & sunshine. Bring your walking shoes because you are going to want to walk the grounds. It is 30 minutes from Florence and 2.5 hours from Rome. Do yourself a favor and check it out! You can thank me later!

Great place in Tuscany! Truly a hidden gem. It stays nice and cool inside because of the thick walls and the shooters. The pool is beautiful and cleaned every day. Many attractions nearby, be sure to ask owner Lorna about the possibilities!

Il Gavillaccio totally met/exceeded my expectations. What an absolutely gorgeous, tranquil place. Lorna and her team leave no needs unmet. Spotlessly clean apartments, you feel at home right away and the scenery is breathtaking. I loved every second, can highly recommend this beautiful place. Get a car and drive around these enchanting Tuscan hills. Seriously good!!! Cannot wait to go back. Thank you to all the staff there :-)

My two lady friends and I stayed for 4 nights by Lorna Currie and her family at the most beautifull villa in the Tuscany countryside. It's near Florence, Sienna, San Gimignano and there are a lot of small villages nearby. The small country roads have lovely scenery and it is a must! The whole villa is lovely and it has a lovely pool to relax by and we also had a lovely 50th dinner by ourselves at the poolside. Lorna went out of her way to organised anything for us and to made our stay most memorable. Our apartment was excellent with a lovely view and it has everything in we needed. We can't asked for a better place or hosts to stay with. We feeled like family when we left! We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to go back one day!

Coming summer we will go for the fourth time to this location, because it's absolutely superbe: the stunning Tuscan views, the swimming pool, the spacious and chique furnished appartments, the well equiped kitchen, the comfartable beds, and this all very clean. Furthermore there is the friendly owner, Lorna, who is always willing to help and makes sure that your stay will be pleasant. The surroundings are very calm and quiet, but if you want to visit some culture then you just have to drive for 30 minutes and you will be in the centre of Florence. Our children always enjoy their holidays at Il Gavillaccio because there are always peers at the swimmingpool. We went 2 times to Rome when staying at Il Gavillaccio, and this is a 2 hrs and 10 minutes drive. We also visited Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano. Great place to stay!!!

I've stayed here for over two weeks. It's a beautiful property and the area is quite nice. It's in the middle of nowhere, so you need to be willing to drive about 15-20 minutes to the supermarket. The apartments do not come with basic kitchen necessities (like olive oil) nor with a full supply of toilet paper (if you are staying more than a few days) so you will have to go out and stock up upon arrival. If you arrive on the weekend, plan ahead since stores close early on Sat and are closed on Sun.
Half of the apartments are quite a distance (an uphill climb) from the parking lot, so just be sure that you understand which apartment you are getting and whether you will have to carry your bags and your groceries a distance. Don't expect help from the owner; your bags are your own responsibility. This is quite typical for many small places in Italy.
The views are breathtaking and there is much to recommend a visit here; however, I caution potential guests. The owner allowed us to book the only available room when the rest of the place was booked for a wedding. That meant that the pool was off limits to us for a day and that we didn't get the usual pleasure of meeting other guests since they were off to themselves. (They were also a group of loud young people, so it wasn't very pleasant.)
Last, the owner misrepresented the apartment to us in email so that we were not aware that we'd have a (hotter than the sun) sleep loft in the midst of August, instead of a normal bedroom. The shade on the skylight was broken, intensifying the problem. The tv did not work and it was clear that it had not worked all summer. We left early, but we gave the owner plenty of time to re-book our apartment. It was high season and there should not have been a problem. However, she still charged us for the full amount even despite the fact that she misrepresented the apartment and did not tell us that there would be a wedding party there all week.
Bottomline: beautiful place with stunning views but an aloof owner who does not provide the kind of hospitality that you can find at other properties. After months of travel in Italy, this was the only bad experience we had. Beware.

My stay at I’ll Gavilaccio in October was truly magical. It was my Milestone Birthday celebration with 9 of my closest friends. The trip was long awaited and well planned, as Lorna and her team did not disappoint. They had great recommendations for wineries and local tours. Lorna worked with me prior to my visit to help make sure I would have the best experience possible. Once there the villa accommodations where welcoming like home away from home. My friends and I enjoyed our individual apartments and also enjoyed spending time together in each other’s apartments. The apartments where spacious and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Italy at IL Gavillaccio and I cannot wait to return.

Highly recommended vacation accommodations at Residence Il Gavillaccio in Figline with a personal touch. Our friend’s 60th Birthday destination celebration was fabulous all because of the professionalism and graciousness of our hostess Lorna and her crew. Lorna and her personal drivers took great care of our party of 10 coordinating travel arrangements and excursions around Italy for the week. We didn’t have to do anything but be outside the Residence at the established time to meet our drivers and GO! They took care of the rest! This vacation was beyond awesome and the accommodations and views at Residence Il Gavillaccio are beautiful. When you go to Tuscany, check Lorna out. She’ll provide a first-class experience.

My mother and 9 of her closest family and friends embarked on a one week trip to Figline and were lucky to spend our week with Lorna and her wonderful staff. Long before we arrived the staff at Il Gavillaccio was available to help us figure out transportation to the villa and support us as we created our itinerary. Lorna went above and beyond to help us get great deals on different things we had planned, offer advice, and answer our questions. When we arrived we were greeted by a picturesque setting and beautiful weather. The "villas" are like small apartments and were well furnished and immaculately cleaned. The villas were spacious and very comfortable and worked well for our large group. The location of the villa was perfect for accessing Florence and other cities close by. We also really enjoyed visiting the area around Figlini.
Lastly, Lorna helped me to put together a wonderful party for my mother on the property in the party room. The space was warm and cozy and was perfect for our event. Lorna helped to make sure that what could have been a stressful occasion was relaxed. Before we left we were already thinking about when we could return.
Thank you to Lorna and all of the people that she works with for their incredible hospitality and for making sure we had a great time.

If you'd like to stay in a less crowded and serene location while also close to a train station to visit other areas of Italy, Il Gavillaccio is the option for you. The apartment rentals are is located in Figline Valdarno (in the middle of Florence, Arezzo, and Siena). The owner's name is Lorna, and she is amazing, thoughtful, helpful, and considerate of Italians AND foreigners. She will make sure your stay is convenient, stress-free, and exceptional :) *My pictures are from apartment 12 and the amenities.
