Should have heeded the Lonely Planet review but the Bradt's write up was not too bad. No power most of the time we were there so no water (not the hotel's fault). One of the cleaners even gave us a pail of water for bathing. We were in the room facing the street so it was loud even with ear...

I was unlucky to spend the night of the 18th of June at Tewodros with another friend of mine and despite choosing to stay in two of the on-suite rooms on the 1st floor (1st and 2nd room on the left handside as you go upstairs, overlooking the street), I ended up sleeping on the floor on a blanket whereas...

If you aren't worried about luxury and just want something soft and horizontal to lie on, Tewodros is perfect. The rooms are reasonably clean and quiet enough. Harar can become surprisingly cold at night, so there are enough blankets. Get a room at the back and you can glimpse and usually hear hyenas on their night-time scavenging. The restaurant is...

I didn't actually stay here for the night, but it looks fine if you're backpacking and happy to rough it while wanting to save every single cent, I'm not, but I ate here a couple of times and the food is very nice. Recommended then, as an unexpectedly convenient and respectable option on the dining front. Staff are nice enough,...

The day I left I was watching under the bed to make sure that I wasn't forgetting anything and it was full of condoms of someone other. It was dirty. The shared bathroom was never clean and the shower was not a shower... In other places I was in hotels with similar prices and opposite conditions!

We had good recommendation and believe that our standard and expectation is veryyyyyy low after 6 months around Africa in very affordable places.... But they told me there was hot water, but there want, and the room and bed was veryyyyy dirt. Do never go there. The only one in Harar should be the HERITAGE one.... wish you love!!!

Thewodros Hotel has everything you need, the rooms are clean and quiet at night. The restaurant serves great injera and beer, and scrambled eggs for breakfast at local prices. The resident guide is Nebil Shemsu and he proved fantastic. He is a refreshingly honest and fun guy that goes out of his way to ensure that you see and do...

I stayed over a week a Tewodros and I found it excellent as a base for exploring the Harar/ Babile region. The room (200 birr) was clean and tidy (with toilet and shower but usually no water - such is Harar!). The local food and drink was excellent and all at the regular, (ie absurdly low), local prices. The old...

Thewodros Hotel is a decent place to stay, the rooms are comfortable and decent priced, there is often no water, but this is a city problem more than the hotel's fault, the staff are helpful and will provide buckets of water when running water is unavailable. There is also a cheap bar and restaurant in the hotel. There are resident...

The room was clean and comfortable, the hot water didn't always work but we were told there is often a problem with the water supply to the town so not sure if other hotels would be affected too. We were always provided with big buckets of water if necessary. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, there is a basic...
