We had an impromptu Friday evening meal with some friends last week and decided to try The Plough as we had not been there before. There were three adults and three teenagers in our party and we were met with a very friendly welcome. The menu looked appetising and as well as having a children's menu, the manager told us... It took 45 mins to produce a meal which was very poor. Salad was gritty, obviously not washed properly. Liver onions and mash, surely not a difficult dish to cook, was dreadful. Liver tasted as if it had been stewed ,probably murdered in a microwave. There were few diners at the time, yet they could'nt manage. Two couples complained whilst we were... More

Stopped at the Plough for dinner without having booked. Had superb evening from start to finish. Attractive bar area, attentive but not over-powering service. Ate in restaurant. Delicious food at exceptionally reasonable prices for an Adnams pub. Can't wait to go again. Kirsty who served us is a real asset to the Plough. Charming, courteous and extremely eager to please... I went here with my partner and my 1year old son and absolutely loved our evening, the food and staff were outstanding! We've been here twice now within the same month and have recommended it to many of our friends and family! Me and my boyfriend both had the steak and we were not disappointed, cooked how we liked them... More

we wished to stay close to Southwold for a concert and the Plough was ideal only being a short distance away - the Staff were 1st class and you had the feeling nothing was too much trouble, would not hesitate to book again when we visit the area, and as we found out the Plough is part of the Adnams... We drove past this Inn several times while staying in Kessingland. We stopped on 3 occasions - once for lunch; once for a drink; once for breakfast. On none of these occasions was the inn open. The morning we stopped for breakfast (advertised on the roadside sign) at 11am, the door was unlocked. My son opened it, only to be... More

We went to the Plough on Sunday (24/4) for lunch. Very easy to access as right on the A12. As we entered we saw a young man smoking at the front (we later found out this was the the temporary manager - not a good look!) The pub was lovely inside and the lady on the bar was very welcoming,... More

We booked in here for three nights. When we arrived at 4.0 clock the place was closed up and we were excpected!! Eventually I rang the pub and was told it closed between 3 and 5. Eventually we got in and were pleasantly surprised looks better inside than out. Dalton the stand in manager was very friendly and we were... More

We spent one night at The Plough whilst visiting Southwold (3 miles). The Plough has only recently been taken back under Adnams management and James, the new General Manager, has enthusiastically set about the task of bringing the standards back up to the right level. He and his bar manager were attentive and helpful when we arrived and we had... More
