This place is simply magical.
After visiting in 2022 for the Frozen Lake Marathon I booked again for this year to compete in the same event. As expected the standards of the hotel were superb and just as they were last year.
It is difficult to sum up just how magical this place is with its amazing selection of freshly prepared food and the stuff who are always willing to spend a little time to get to know you. I must have spent hours talking to the staff in total about the area and Norway and it was an absolute pleasure with each of them. We even spoke to the lady who owned the hotel as she worked behind the bar area who was so polite and interested in us as guests.
The room are what you would expect from a skiing area, very practical with heated bathroom wet room floor. The beds are comfy with additional blankets and pillows if required. Lovely balcony overlooking the ski slopes and lake.
We will be back next March to see the hotel and its staff again who have left an impression on us that I think other hotels will struggle to compete with.
Thank you for again exceeding our expectations in every area and have a great year and I will see you again in 51 weeks!!

Due to the Covid situation, we were looking for a Hotel up in the mountains, this was a great solution. We asked for a special room with a balcony - we were given room 220. This hotel is basicly a family hotel with many activities, also has a special room for couples after their wedding.
Fantastic service, hotel is a height of 850m, we will be back.

How nice is a coffee after a long walk across endless wilderness and lakes in the rad distance! July time so no skiing today!
Really nice location of this ski or mountain resort so next time, I’ll have to stay a night or two and try the skiing facilities! 🤯😉👍

We arrived late after getting lost in the dark and fog. Very quick and polite check in. The room was a dissapointment. The heating did not work and the room and bathroom was very 1970. And the room had poor lighting and the TV could be changed to a slightly less bulky type.
Good closet space. No minibar or fridge, but the verandah outside the room did the job.
Public areas except reception area was ok, but very cold. Everyone wanted to sit by the fireplace. The reception area was nice and cozy.
Limited parking due to a market in the basement.
Outside terrain is very nice both summer and winter.
If we book this hotel again, we would make sure to get an upgraded room.

We stayed at Oset on a drive across Southern Norway. Hotel was picked based on Tripadvisor and the location between our starting and arrival points. Oset has a very nice location and should be ideal for walking in the summer season and cross country skiing in the winter. We arrived aroung 7:30 pm and was asked at check-in if we wanted dinner. A nice three course dinner with soup, salmon and desert was served in the dining room. We had a good sleep in a comfortable bed and a very good breakfast before heading on.

We are a family of 4 (2 primary aged children). We are all vegan and were visiting the hotel to participate in a running event.
The rooms are basic and dated, but clean and practical. Only slight annoyance was that my husband and I were continually banging our heads on the light fitting and we are not super tall.
The food was brilliant. Great range, plentiful and fresh. Only improvement for us would be to include a nondairy yoghurt option eg outghurt by Oatly. We really liked it that there was a vegan dessert available every day.
The common parts were really cosy with open fires and plenty of space. The staff and other guests were very friendly and it had a real community feel. There is also really good WiFi throughout.
The children really enjoyed playing in the games room and the pool. I really liked the sauna after a cold day in the snow.

Yes, a bit tricky finding the hotel and it's a bit dated but the staff and overall service and food take it up.
They even got us fishing gear.
We really enjoyed the stay!!

Have visited Oset during the winter and summer for 5 years now, and will continue to do so. The staff is nice and helpful, the common areas welcoming with a big open fire, the kitchen award-winning and the scenery absolutely stunning. In the winter the cross-country tracks run in all directions and are always newly prepared. With the diversity of the tracks you can chose whatever length and difficulty you want, climbing a mountain or staying on the flats. In the summer the paths let you do the same, cycling or hiking. The hotel rents both skis and bicycles. The reason I am not giving the top score is because the hotel is not brand new like some of the new luxury resorts, some of the corridors and rooms are not newly redecorated, but all are nice and clean. Oset has been run in generations by the same family, and we prefer that charm to the impersonal chain hotels. The hotel has a separate traditional chapel, and hosts an exhibition of vintage Norwegian farmers' objects in a hall that may be rented for parties. There is also swimming pool, sauna and gym, special arrangements during holidays, and a farm for the children during summer.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.
This is a hotel on the mountain, Gol. So a mountain hotel, and not your average big city hotel. This means that it’s outdated as many of these hotels are. However if you can look past that and enjoy the time travel back in time you will be fine.
The food is great the staff is excellent and they even pick you up at the train station and drop you back for a small fee. Just let them know what train you are arriving with.
I read that they are in the process of refurbish the rooms. So they will eventually get there.
Recommend, but know what to expect.

Very nice hotel, although room (239) seems a bit old. However, splendid view over mountains, lake, etc. Excellent restaurant with huge buffet, both for breakfast and for dinner, including very nice desserts.
