This is the best hotell if you whant a magisk experience in the mountains. When you enter the lobby, you feel like you're in a large cabin, not a hotel. It is decorated absolutely magically. The snow on the outside makes it more and the slalom ride on the outside. make this the trip of your life. If you are here, you must visit the pool, where you can just relax without any noise, and enjoy the delicious food they serve. Everything around the hotel was so wonderful. But just didn't like the rooms. too much decoration , That took away the good cabin feeling. But all in all, this was a mountain trip you should take

Booked with Ski Safari over New Year 2023/24. We were 2 families travelling together, 6 nights here and 2 nights in Oslo. Chose to stay here as my husband had travelled to Hemsedal before and he had spotted this hotel has a good central location and you can ski in and out (and at the time of booking affordable, we have tried to book again for 24/25 and it's almost double the price so we haven't booked).
We really enjoyed our stay here and did not experience rude staff like other reviewers (the main bartender was great at making us cocktails and suggesting things). I would definitely stay here again.
Our favourite ski run was the one back down to the hotel too around the back of the resort.
We booked on a B&B basis as the evening menu didn't inspire us and it seems doesn't change. Turns out you can in fact eat pizza and pasta at the bar so you don't need to book the main restaurant if you don't want to (the night we ate pasta though was our most expensive meal!) and there are plenty of places you can walk to to eat out at.
We found the rooms comfortable and the lounge area a great place to relax, although the hotel was busy so we never got a chance to play on the lounge games during our stay.
You can hire skis and snowboard direct from hotel, Ski Safari make you go to the main ski area, which was a right faff and perhaps unnecessary.
During our booking we were told because we were not taking Half Board we could not pay a supplement to have New Year's Eve Dinner here, so we had to eat elsewhere. When we came back a party was in full swing and I didn't recognise half the guests so I do feel we were given the wrong info on this. Norway dress to impress on New Years Eve. In all the restaurants people were dressed very smart, particularly the ladies in black tie dresses so we were definitely underdressed! Fireworks are set off at midnight. A great evening.
You have to pay extra to use the pool area, seems like this is the same all over Norway. I found it overpriced and cramped. The only let down I think.
We did two activities which I booked in advance through the Hemsedal Tourist Office - Friday night sledging from the top of the main ski run down to the bottom (5km) in the dark at 8pm - this was an absolute highlight of our holiday. An absolute blast and so much fun. My sons want to return to do this only! It really was great fun.
We also spent a day dog sledging. It's expensive but once in a life time experience. Very cold but a great experience and dogs extremely friendly.
We had a super stay and would love to return one day.

Has all the makings of a great hotel. Recently and rapidly opened, lots of surroundings construction is ugly to look at. Absolutely no spa or pool facilities and not until August, which was kind of pointless for this winter trip to Norway. Food is sub par and they charge for espresso at breakfast? At least give me a free coffee if I can't sit in the hot tub you didnt tell me would be ready 6 months after I got there.

If you're allergic to plush velvet sofas, feel uncomfortable by the heat of open fires and are intimidated by openhearted and genuinely friendly staff, you should probably find another place to stay.

However, if you don't mind the above, and in addition think that it is a bonus with excellent food & drinks and ski rental + slopes within arm's reach, then I suggest that you go ahead and hook up with Fyri Resort.

It is really a spectacular property and the pictures on their website do tell the truth. Tons of attention to small design details, fun art on the walls, old style board games, shuffleboard, pool table, open fires etc. A spa + pool area is in the making and will add to the total experience later on this year.

However, what made our stay stand out was not the hardware but the software. Cred to the people behind the recruitment of staff for Fyri. An overwhelming majority of the staff we met gave a warm, professional and very personal impression.

Worth noting though is that the resort opened just a few weeks ago. Some cables were hanging from the ceiling here and there and carpenters and electricians running around taking care of the final details. The spa/pool area is under construction, so if you have a room close by, you may hear some construction noise. The rooms have good sound proofing so it didn't really bother us, but good to be aware of.

Really annoying and monotonous music is blasted out everywhere, espacially if you wanna sit and talk or work. Can't find a quiet place anywhere.

Other than that the interior is really nice. The business person will appreciate that there is quite a number of places to find power plugs.

Did not stay in a room so I can't speak to that.

Dear Allan, We would like to thank you for sharing your feedback through this review. We are constantly striving to improve and thanks to our guests feedback we are able to do that. Our concept is a living hotel and the music is a part of that. However, we have listened to our guests and are regulating the volume so it is not to loud as well as are lowering the music in the corridoors during the evening/night. Warm welcome back to us at Fýri! Best regards, Emma and Team Fýri

Looking at the pictures and the way the hotel communicates and market themselves makes you believe that this is a luxury hotell. And, the building and the lobby are amazing and give a great first impression. But what happens after the astonoshing views;

Arrival Day : We arrived late and only had time for dinner. The restaurant was full (personally I do not understand why you don´t have enough seats for all your guests in a hotell restaurant) so we had to eat at the bar. We waited 80 minutes for the first meal to get out, and our food (main course only) did not arrive together.

Arrival Day +1 : We hade booked our ski rental well in advance and spent all the time necessary for that on the computer. So we were quite surprised when we got to the ski rental at the hotel and they said that they only had the sizes to 2 out of 4 in the family. Unbelievable if you ask me, why offer ski rental and reservations if you do not have the equipment in stock for your customers. So we had to drive to town and rent with Skistar instead and because of that we lost about 2-2,5 hours of the skiing day.

When we came back from this skiing day the hotel had not cleaned our room, made our beds and so.

Then we had a spa reservation but since there was no controll over reservations (nobody checked when you walked in) the spa was over crowded and there were no beds/sofas available for us.

We travelled with another family (also 4 people) and when we left the restaurant in the evening (new years eve) and we were all a bit tipsy they came out with a bill for 9 people instead of 8. We were very close to signing this without looking, thinking "what can go wrong". So they tried to fool us on about 2500 NOK. Thank god that we managed to notice this befor signing.

Arrival day +2: Since you were only allowed to use the electrical car charges for 12 hours I was up early in the morning to move my car. But after driving around the hotel there were 0 available places. So they do not have parking enough for all guests.

When we came back from this skiing day the hotel had not cleaned our room, made our beds and so (same as day 1).

Again the restaurant was full so we had to eat in the bar. But for some reason you were not allowed to order pasta in the bar at the ground floor, there you could only order pizzas. So we had to order at the bar on the 3rd flor then to carry it down to the ground floor (because the other bar was full).

Arrival day +3 : Believe it or not but after complaining on the cleaning for two straight days we managed to get cleaning of our rooms day 3.

On top of this there was loud music in all the hallways, making it difficult to sleep at night and waking you up in the morning.
In our room one of the beds (double bed) was new and really nice, whilst the other was old and really saggy.

Considering the price per night and how they market themselves I would say that this is the least "value for money" hotel I have ever stayed at. The chances of me, my family or our friends ever returning is zero. I have not been there, but my guess is that a 3-star Skistar hotel is delivering much more "bang for the buck" than this.

What a wonderful hotel! We spent a whole week here during Christmas, and we were amazed by every detail of this hotel. We used the pool club everyday. The poolclub is amazing with great views of the mountains. The water in both the inside and outside pool is very warm. Just perfect. The drinks served by the pool are definitely recommended (especially the pornstar martini!). The staff is very kind. Greetings to the ladies at the front desk and the security guy. By the way, we have read a few negative comments about the music, but honestly, the music at this hotel made our stay even better!:)

Spent a weekend skiing with 2 adults + 3 kids.
Hotel is new, and it has a lovely design. Rooms of good standard, nice and clean. Staff very helpful and positive. We did not like the dinner-menu of restaurant, and walked down to the town centre for an evening meal- 15 minutes walk. Breakfast, however, was of good quality. reception/ lounge areas of superb design, and plenty of activities for kids. Will come back once the swimming pool opens. Convenient ski in-/ out to the alpine ski area.

The hotel itself and its location is stunning. It has recently opened, and it shows. Lousy service during dinner, where they lack different beverages, and a 3-course dinner almost took 4 hours to complete. (Waiting for food, when it arrived the food itself was excellent). Advertised breakfast at 07:00, did not open till 07:30. Very small selection of food to choose from during breakfast, and the line took ages. When the hotel is full i guess the restaurant/breakfast is utterly chaos. But the potential is there.
