Falconara is situated on the south-eastern coast of Sicily, between Agrigento and Ragusa, in an enchanting position overlooking the sea. Its neighbour is the magical medieval castle of Falconara, erected in Norman times to repel the invasion of the Moors. The famous Valle dei Templi of Agrigento, the Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina with its splendid mosaics, Caltagirone with its craft made ceramics and the pearls of the Sicilian baroque: Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Scicli are all within easy reach.

We didn’t have time to use all of the hotel’s facilities eg spa and gym. But the rooms and gardens are lovely. Food and wine great - especially if you like fish!! Lots to do locally. Valley of the temples is amazing!! We did some Montalbano ‘research’ on way back to Catania. Scicli is where much was filmed and is such a picturesque town. Was on bucket list - and well worth it!!

Many thanks to the wonderful receptionists at Falconara. The hotel is very isolated and far from anywhere. As a young family we needed to go to a pharmacy and shops several times in which the staff helped us in booking taxis etc. The receptionists Luigi and Carmelo were so helpful in making our stay comfortable. On arriving late to the hotel Carmelo helped us get settled and brought up milk for the baby. Luigi in his spare time visited the pharmacy for us when no taxis were available. They were very welcoming and gave incredibly professional customer service. The pool was our favourite part of the holiday - we stayed there all week. A relaxing and beautiful holiday!

We just left the Charming house and are now recovering from the worst vacation ever. Our room had no air conditioning (which is apparently common at the Charming house), bedspreads that were shredding apart and a knocked over lamp. We had to sleep with the door open (which only partly opened because it hit the bed) inviting in big mosquitoes and flies. WiFi was non existent and didn’t even work in the lobby. Everything old and outdated. Only positive was waiters at breakfast were accommodating for cappuccino which was greatly appreciated. Bathrooms renovated. On the whole don’t believe good reviews. Very misleading and not the place to go for rest and relaxation. Beware of the Charming house !!!

Grazie. GH Falconara Resort.

What a dump. Clearly the positive reviews of this location are a joke. The air conditioning didn’t work, the wifi didn’t work, and they had to pry open our safe with a screw driver. The breakfast was so bad we didn’t chance any other meal there. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at in over 80 countries.

My husband and I stayed here for our mini-moon. Staff on front desk were very welcoming and friendly. They were always ready to help with all our queries and were very helpful. On the day we left they packed breakfast for us in a bag with water, apple juice, french toast, croissant, cake, jam and rolls with cheese. It was very nice of them and I would recommend to ask for this if you are planning an early trip one day out of the resort The hotel is situated in a deserted area of Butera with not a lot nearby, just a lot of dusty motorways. There is a pizzeria next to the hotel which serves tasty food. Other reviews have said the service wasn't great but I found it to be fine. There is also a strip club next to the hotel which I found odd. I would recommend hiring a car if you plan to visit other places as there is town nearby called Licata which have lovely restaurant and an amazing Gelato place. You can also drive to the valley of the temples which is close by via a car. The hotel ground sits on a lovely private beach which I would say is the best thing about the hotel. The view is beautiful, you get to see the lovely lush sea with a glimpse of the the castle. This setting and the private beach is what I was most satisfied about the hotel. The room I must say is what was most disappointing. We had paid for a classic room with sea view. You get to see the sea which was very nice but the room itself was not great. It was very dark and dingy. It was hard to get ready in. The bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows was so thin and lifeless, we had to actually request extra pillows. The room and bathroom was very clean I must say. The bathroom was well lit and clean but had a broken light in the toilet. The lock on our door to enter the room was actually broken (I think possibly by the maid as we came back and found it like that) and it was fixed by the handyman but it still wasn't great as it just needed a little push and it would open on its own. Luckily we stayed out most of the time so I didn't have to feel bad about the room so much. But overall I was disappointed with the room. The food in the hotel was decent. We were on halfboard so had breakfast and dinner included. Dinner was nice and plentiful. Breakfast was just your bog standard, nothing to rave about. I did find it out that the waiters did not ask us for orders for our beverages for breakfast or dinner but had asked everyone around us. Didn't understand why but it didn't bother us at the time. Overall I would say this is more of 3 star hotel in terms of the room but I would recommend this hotel purely for the private beach which was magical. I would not recommend this for your honeymoon as it is not a couples only resort...they were plenty of kids. If you're a family with children then this is perfect.

We booked 3 nights but after the first night couldn't wait to leave! Firstly upon checking in the attendant seemed put off as if we were bothering her and it took forever to get our key to the room. Secondly the room although spacious was Very depressing with all black interior including the walls and furnishings except for the cream cushions on the small black framed couch. We booked it because of the Castle that stood sea side in front of the hotel but after checking in going to the pool bar, we were told that it was locked up...that was the 2nd let down. We were tired as we drove across Sicily ftom the other side of the sea in Cefalu so decided to try and make the best of it. The guy at the bar seemed depressed himself with a 1 or 2 word answer when we asked questions. After a couple of drinks we walked down to the beach to view the magnificent castle and take pictures. Our night's stay was Horribly uncomfortable with no air conditioning even though there was a wall box it didn't work so we opened the door until we couldn't stand the bugs buzzing past our heads. The nightstand had a long box with umpteen buttons that were useless as we pushed each one with nothing happening! Geez I felt like we were in the twilight zone. The next morning the breakfast room felt like a cafeteria without any warmth or ambience to make things worse it was a rainy day. The lounge area was dark and dismal I took it upon myself to go around manually turning on the dim lights to brighten up the atmosphere to no avail! There were 4 couches in the very large sprawled out area and 2 of them the cushions were sunken in so bad that it was impossible to sit on them. It poured all day and if the hotel had been a truly Charming House we would have enjoyed our short stay. Luckily we had a family situation that cut our stay short of 2 nights so after about an hour explaining to the lady our situation she assured us that we'd get a refund for the 2 nights that weren't used, in fact she said the full refund would be credited to our account in the next 2 days because booking.com approved it along with the hotel personnel. We didn't get our refund and after contacting booking.com they said the woman from the hotel told us it was on condition that our room would be booked! That is a complete Lie and we couldn't believe they'd be so unethical to lie about our situation. So now we are trying to get our money back. My strong advice to anyone thinking of staying at this place BEWARE this is the opposite of a "Charming House".

Although the staff here were wonderfully accommodating, the hotel itself was terrible. Tasteless throughout. A ghastly square box with four awful cushions is the reception seating area? On being given a key, we had a long walk down a corridor with little or no lights working so it felt like a wartime blackout. Once in the room we could not find a proper light and I could hardly see into my case. There were low voltage lamps only around the room. The phone by the bed had various buttons but all were engaged ie roomservice, reception etc. The a/c didn't work. The bath was very hard to get into and out of as it disappeared into a gully. I went to the desk and a very nice girl came to assist and told me she had to switch on the a/c from the front desk. I asked about the phone and she said I should dial 9 (yet no sign on the phone to do this). She said the lighting was suppose to be subdued - utterly ridiculous - you could not have sat and read or do some work. The dinner wasnt too bad and the breakfast reasonable, but the dining hall lacked any character. The whole place felt like an insititution and lacked any finesse or style. I would not recommend this place nor does it deserved more than 2 stars.

We spent a wonderful week with my wife in a picturesque facility, directly on the escarpment, right next to the sea, place which was intimate and with a soul. It is an extremely atmospheric place, a corridor stylized for castle interior, or maybe it used to be part of the castle buildings, in any case, beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, functionally furnished in a consistent style. From the room a brilliant sea view and the soothing sound of the waves in the morning and evenings. Directly from the entrance of the outbuilding, is a magnificent view of the sea through the Moorish-style corridor and on the right a captivating view of Castello di Falconara. What is rare, you do not have to fight for sunbeds at the pool or on the sandy private beach, there are plenty of them. Towels are provided free of charge at the reception. Good continental breakfast and very nice lunches and dinners. To them in the option small all-inclusive Sicilian wine and water. Lots of seasonal fruit and great sweets. A la carte menu. Sicilian regional cuisine and lot of pasta, there are not too many choices of continental dishes, but for those who love local tastes and flavors, great. If anyone is with children the kitchen can be a challenge there is not kid’s corner. A fantastic starting point for the trips to Agrigento, Scala dei Turchi, Syracuse, Piazza Armerina, Noto. Committed and discreet service and the service at a high level. Rooms cleaned quickly and cleanly. The place is actually quite secluded, but if someone decides to go on a trips (see above) then the holiday will be very successful. I recommend this hotel especially for couples, is really quiet and relaxing. And the bartender, he's doing a wonderful Margherita (6 Euro). It was a brilliant holiday :)

I decided to take my children aged 7 and 14 away for a couple of night stay at the Falconaro Resort. We were excited about the ability to stay near the sea, while enjoying a pool and all the amenities that a supposed 4 star resort should have. After we were greeted and told we would be upgraded to a suite I was then told they had no accommodations for my family and I to eat in the dining room for dinner that evening nor the next evening. We were not offered room service, a la cart or to eat outside at all of the available outside seating. This resort is located in the middle of no where. The town of Gela is a 20 minute ride. There was no Air Conditioning in the room and the temperature climbed to well over 27.8c. The walls in the room were dirty. Water stained chairs in the rooms. Broken tiles and trimming around bath tub, light fixtures that would not turn on, and also outside lounge chairs with holes and rips. The front desk staff were incredibly rude. WiFi is nonexistent in rooms. Staff did not provide any information on how to access WiFi in public areas. After, only 6 hours at this resort, 4 trips to the front desk, and 100% complete disappointment my children and I left the resort. We DID NOT even stay the evening. I have been all over the world, and I have never experienced the disappointment and overall rudeness from any staff ever as I did here. DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! I emailed Booking.com with no reply. I have emailed the resort and was called a complete liar by the resort. I also emailed the corporate location with no replay.

We visited this resort for a family holiday and had a great family break with three kids. The resort is located on a beautiful private beach overlooking Falconara castle .The rooms are spacious and spotless with clean supply of towels everyday . Staff is very helpful and many thanks for Maria who was more then helpful throughout our stay. You do need a car to explore around as so many beautiful towns to see on the south coast any way. Breakfast is tasty with plenty to suit everyone. Pool area has plenty of beds and umbrellas. Thanks to everyone in the resort we had a great time
