We didn’t have time to use all of the hotel’s facilities eg spa and gym. But the rooms and gardens are lovely. Food and wine great - especially if you like fish!! Lots to do locally. Valley of the temples is amazing!! We did some Montalbano ‘research’ on way back to Catania. Scicli is where much was filmed and is such a picturesque town. Was on bucket list - and well worth it!!
Many thanks to the wonderful receptionists at Falconara. The hotel is very isolated and far from anywhere. As a young family we needed to go to a pharmacy and shops several times in which the staff helped us in booking taxis etc. The receptionists Luigi and Carmelo were so helpful in making our stay comfortable. On arriving late to the hotel Carmelo helped us get settled and brought up milk for the baby. Luigi in his spare time visited the pharmacy for us when no taxis were available. They were very welcoming and gave incredibly professional customer service. The pool was our favourite part of the holiday - we stayed there all week. A relaxing and beautiful holiday!
We just left the Charming house and are now recovering from the worst vacation ever. Our room had no air conditioning (which is apparently common at the Charming house), bedspreads that were shredding apart and a knocked over lamp. We had to sleep with the door open (which only partly opened because it hit the bed) inviting in big mosquitoes and flies. WiFi was non existent and didn’t even work in the lobby. Everything old and outdated. Only positive was waiters at breakfast were accommodating for cappuccino which was greatly appreciated. Bathrooms renovated. On the whole don’t believe good reviews. Very misleading and not the place to go for rest and relaxation. Beware of the Charming house !!!
What a dump. Clearly the positive reviews of this location are a joke. The air conditioning didn’t work, the wifi didn’t work, and they had to pry open our safe with a screw driver. The breakfast was so bad we didn’t chance any other meal there. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at in over 80 countries.
My husband and I stayed here for our mini-moon. Staff on front desk were very welcoming and friendly. They were always ready to help with all our queries and were very helpful. On the day we left they packed breakfast for us in a bag with water, apple juice, french toast, croissant, cake, jam and rolls with cheese. It was very nice of them and I would recommend to ask for this if you are planning an early trip one day out of the resort The hotel is situated in a deserted area of Butera with not a lot nearby, just a lot of dusty motorways. There is a pizzeria next to the hotel which serves tasty food. Other reviews have said the service wasn't great but I found it to be fine. There is also a strip club next to the hotel which I found odd. I would recommend hiring a car if you plan to visit other places as there is town nearby called Licata which have lovely restaurant and an amazing Gelato place. You can also drive to the valley of the temples which is close by via a car. The hotel ground sits on a lovely private beach which I would say is the best thing about the hotel. The view is beautiful, you get to see the lovely lush sea with a glimpse of the the castle. This setting and the private beach is what I was most satisfied about the hotel. The room I must say is what was most disappointing. We had paid for a classic room with sea view. You get to see the sea which was very nice but the room itself was not great. It was very dark and dingy. It was hard to get ready in. The bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows was so thin and lifeless, we had to actually request extra pillows. The room and bathroom was very clean I must say. The bathroom was well lit and clean but had a broken light in the toilet. The lock on our door to enter the room was actually broken (I think possibly by the maid as we came back and found it like that) and it was fixed by the handyman but it still wasn't great as it just needed a little push and it would open on its own. Luckily we stayed out most of the time so I didn't have to feel bad about the room so much. But overall I was disappointed with the room. The food in the hotel was decent. We were on halfboard so had breakfast and dinner included. Dinner was nice and plentiful. Breakfast was just your bog standard, nothing to rave about. I did find it out that the waiters did not ask us for orders for our beverages for breakfast or dinner but had asked everyone around us. Didn't understand why but it didn't bother us at the time. Overall I would say this is more of 3 star hotel in terms of the room but I would recommend this hotel purely for the private beach which was magical. I would not recommend this for your honeymoon as it is not a couples only resort...they were plenty of kids. If you're a family with children then this is perfect.…
