We have just spent a lovely weekend at Gwabi. We wanted somewhere that didn't break the bank nor take ages to get there. Only 3 hours from Lusaka with the majority of the way there on good tar. The final bit of dirt road is rough but accessible. There really is something special about sitting back and relaxing on the...

Spend a few days at Gwabi over new years. An awesome experience. Awesome location, great staff and service, the best food, all at a very reasonable price. If you find yourself in Lusaka, and you want to experience the Zambesi river, then this is without a doubt the best place to do it.

We stayed at Gwabi Lodge for 4 days over the Christmas period of 2016. The down time was lovely and relaxing. The lodge is situated in the Chirundu area which is about 120km away from Lusaka. When you get to Chirundu town from Lusaka, you need to branch into a feeder road on your left and drive down the dirt...

Thank you for your accurate and honest report on Gwabi. We are slowly rebuilding the lodge as yu would have seen at the main building. Remaining is two of the old chalets and then the normal maintenance. The rains do bring problems with regards to damp and we are also working on this. We here your suggestion on more activities...

We had a short time to get away from Lusaka, and not much money. We decided on Gwabi River Lodge, as we cannot afford the other places. It's not a bad drive from Lusaka, only 3 hours, and the road is good until Chirundu. The worst part of the visit wasn't anything within the power of Gwabi or the staff;...

The road to this place is pretty bad, but luckily it's only a few kilometers. The campsite is large and shady, the ablution blocks old but clean. There is a bar and a very welcome swimming pool with a deck that offers a nice view over the Kafue. Dinner was excellent, and the staff is very helpful.

Our room was fantastic - cool, air conditioned, pristine, crisp white linen and superb river view. The service was really good - bearing in mind we were there during the Fishing competition. Westscott - our coxswain was great - The food was great, the drinks icy cold, and the owners very welcoming. (Personally not keen on the Baboons and monkeys that came...

Perfect getaway destination away from the buzz of city life. We went for a couples weekend. We loved the boat cruise to the island where we had a BBQ lunch all laid out under a gazebo. Their rooms are very clean and spacious. We spotted some elephants, crocodiles, different types of birds and hippos. The lodge has a beautiful view...

Gwabi offers nice and shady camping spots on the river front. Only one ablution block, so if the camping gets crowded, things might get busy. In general, the place felt a bit messy, uninspired and poor maintained. It probably had better days, but there's still a lot of potential. Nice pool and terrace overlooking the river. Sad that they have...
