Apraos Bay Hotel 3*** a small, charming, family-run, built in 1992 with a traditional Venetian style exterior, sits elegantly and peacefully in a beautiful garden amidst olive and orange groves. A private swimming pool with a panoramic bar, 50m away a vast sandy beach. Stone steps lead down from the hotel to a tiny secluded rocky cove. Due to the unique positioning of the hotel, gentle breezes are felt and found throughout the day on one of the five spacious terraces.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
You get what you pay when it comes to holidays. This was a short notice cheapie booked through Love Holidays and it pretty much lived up to our expectations. The hotel is a bit tired and needs renovation - it’s a little like stepping back to the Greece of old and id non the worse for that ( unpredictable water supply, noisy plumbing etc). Rooms cleaned to a good standard and plenty of clean sheets and towels. It has lovely balcony with a great view. The location of the hotel will divide opinion; for some, it will be beautifully isolated in a quiet location but for others it will be remote and too far away from town. There are a couple of restaurants about 10 mins walk away but that’s yer lot. Journey into town is a good 15 minutes by bike ( worth a shout - 2 hire places in town) but a fantastic beach locally. Staff friendly and helpful. Go with realistic expectations and you’ll have a great time.

From start to finish it wasn't a good experience. On arrival the owner came running out from the pool wrapped in a towel! Not very professional. We asked about aircon.....told to open the windows . The room itself was stiffling hot , mattress were the worst ever slept on. Most uncomfortable week of our lives. To be honest we weren't made to feel welcome, at one point we asked for help regarding transfers and eyes were rolled at us. The bank leading to the beach is definitely only suitable for fit and active people. The insects (which I know don't reflect the hotel itself) were horrendous! Wasps would not leave us alone. Even the pool area was hounded by them. The situation with the toilet and not flushing paper was very off-putting and flush itself was pitiful. Apraos bay itself is beautiful and the beach, sea etc stunning but there is nothing at all to do here and we spent most of our time in kassiopi. I wouldn't advise going.

If you want absolute peace and quiet, don't want to be within walking distance of restaurants or supermarkets, don't want a TV, no (or poorly functioning) internet or a fridge and don't mind old, rickety furniture, then this is the place for you. At least the only comfort in the rooms is air conditioning. If you want to treat yourself to a trip back in time to your honeymoon in 1973 for your golden wedding anniversary, then Apraos Bay is the place for you. It looks really great and romantic from the outside. A car is absolutely essential, because "civilization" is about 5 km away in both directions.

Worst hotel we have been to, looks nice in pictures but bad in reality. Stone hard beds without mattress a pillow though we asked for another. Bathroom old, mirror above sink sat high up which meant that we could not make ourselves ready where mirror out in the room but there was no good lighting instead, went out to the stairs where it was bright and a large mirror. There is nothing in the description about not flushing paper down the toilet, yes I can take that if there had been info about it. breakfast that we had paid for was a few slices of white bread cheese and ham some kind of yoghurt and some juice. Coffee in a stainless steel pot the lika, which made it cool quickly, if you took the cold milk so we had to blame ourselves that the coffee was cold... Asked for Micro but they had not. We had to take a taxi to the nearest village to eat but we knew that, but it was 20 euros a night. The beach was quite far away and the closest road was to walk a bit after the road then down a hill then and then we had to go in the water until the beach where there were sun beds and a little place we could drink coffee and beer and stuff, the man who was there was really cute to us he drove us to the hotel with his car so we would not have to walk .. the pool that existed they had turned off the purification to that we could not be.
Now it was the end of the season we were there so we were mostly a nuisance, but then maybe they should have closed earlier. But the sea was wonderful when you got there and we ate in many good places otherwise it was crap.

When we arrived it was lovely, the hotel is in a perfectly positioned location, you have picturesque views all around you with the Albanian border mountains just across the sea which you can see from the Balcony’s of the hotel. When getting into the hotel room, it was fairly nice, although the shower was a bit dirty and the beds are really uncomfortable with only one very thin pillow each and lots of dips in the bed due to it missing a large number of bed slats. The hotel it self is pretty run down with tools lying around everywhere including axes so wouldn’t suggest coming here with small or young children, it gives off the impression that they’re not bothered about taking care of the hotel. After staying here for 3 days (we’re from the UK and not used to temperatures above 25degrees usually for our summer) we had the air con on in our room as temperatures were 36 degrees and above, we were approached very abruptly and told that the air con was not free and came with a charge of 10 euros per day. We were not told about this on arrival, there were no signs anywhere in the hotel to advise of this, and additionally was not listed on the website we booked through so just wanted to get some information as to why we were only being told about this after using for a few days. We first asked the lady who runs the reception who angrily Told us to speak to manager, we then asked the manager of the hotel why this was a charge as we have never been told to pay extra while staying at a hotel for air-con and we were under the impression this was included within the price of the room as we were not told of this prior to using it for 3 days, to which he responded ‘shut up, stop talking, I don’t like you, you talk too much’ In tears I decided to leave the conversation and go back to our room, and let my boyfriend speak to him. He was so rude and made me feel so uncomfortable I didn’t want to stay at this hotel anymore and ruined our entire time staying here and we avoided being at the hotel as much as possible. After our uncomfortable encounter with the manager and the woman who I assume is his wife (runs the reception) they continued to make me feel uncomfortable by ignoring our presence and only being friendly to the other people staying at the hotel, where as when we first arrived were really welcoming and would always be greeting us when we would get back to the hotel or just passing them. At various points the woman would try and make digs at us for having the air-con on even though air con wasn’t even actually on which made us feel even more uncomfortable and like we couldn’t relax as they would pick at everything we would do. This woman also on a number of different occasions would speak to my boyfriend, but when he left the room would continue to act as if i wasn’t there. At no point did the manager of the hotel apologise to me for being so rude he would simply just act as if I was invisible. I would never stay at this hotel ever again, purely based on the poor hospitality of the people running it and how run down it was which is a real shame because at the start of our stay we felt so welcomed and at home, almost as if you were staying with your grandparents and the scenery was really lovely.

Awful hotel rude owners Don’t look after the cats they have , left a dead kitten out on the lawn Awful wasp problem , but they leave all doors open in the breakfast area for them to swarm all over the rubbish food they serve Fantastic scenery but that is al Unhelpful staff , dirty communal toilets Room extremely basic , uncomfortable beds , no tv , no tea or coffee unless you’re up for buying one behind the bar . Food they serve is awful and very limited . Pool is nice but doesn’t look anything like it’s advertised to be , very run down . Wouldn’t come again

The hotel is lovely and has beautiful views. No shops near by and limited access to food and water but a 7min drive and you are at Kassiopi town where you can get everything. Under rated hotel the owners are 2 kind helpful people. It is the perfect place for a long weekend/ cheap holiday in a beautiful country

Spectacular scenery, in the middle of nowhere. Standard is simple and price is low. You can get around by bus, rent a car, or stay at the lovely beach nearby. Quite scilly to uke the pool with such a wonderful beach a 4 min. walk away. Low budget family driven hotel, lower your expectations and adjust...we have visited this hotel for 8 years now. Peace, quiet, stunning scenery, private...we spend little time in the hotel when we visit. I dont think i would stay there with children.

Please note this review is to prevent the same nightmare as we have had. If you want a worse experience than I’m a celebrity get me out of here then book here, there was more bugs in my room and bed than there was in one of the bush tucker trials !!!!
There was smashed glass everywhere , dead bugs , cobwebs , stained mattresses .
Please don’t make the same mistakes we did and book here it ruined our holiday and wouldn’t want the same for yourself.
