I helped arrange travel for two priests who hiked the Camino in July 2015. I searched for lodging at the start of the trip where the gentlemen could meet, adjust to the time difference, and begin their pilgrimage. Jean-Francois, the innkeeper of Maison Donamaria was invaluable to me. He confirmed payment and answered all of my questions promptly. He referred... More

St. Jean Pied-de-Port has been declared a UNESCO site for a reason!! For approximately 1000 years this tiny village(?)town(?) has been a funnel point for the French Routes converging in the south to cross the Pyranees into Spain on the way to Pamplona for the Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella. And today one STILL can feel , to some extent,... More

my room overlooked the river. tranquillity, birds singing, beautifully decorated, historical, traditional, clean. Good quality bedding and towels. lovely host. all very romantic. superb breakfast - all you can eat, fruit, yoghurt, breads, cheese, eggs, and a variety of honey - from different seasons. (The honey may have been a one-off).

Wow! Wow! Wow! 2 weeks traveling by the country side of France and this was our last stop before Spain. And...Wow! We were a family of 7 adults traveling and this is the best place we have stayed during our holidays. The place is just beautiful. The location, well, it is just beside a little river and 3 minutes away... More

The house. Perfect in every way. 2 minutes from the downtown, so totally quiet, just the sound of the beautiful River. Beds are very comfortable. And you hear the river when you lay by the pool in the backyard. The Host. Funny, smart, attentive and totally knowledgeable re Basque area and all of the walks. The Breakfast. Yummy! Somehow he... Perfect host. Perfect location just a short stroll along the riverside to the town. Just far enough not to spoil the perfect peace and tranquillity of the wonderful house, garden and pool and relax in the sun or the shade of the many trees. Our spacious room overlooked the river with just an audible hint of the nearby waterfall. Great... More

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at Maison Donamaria as part of our honeymoon. The house itself is beautiful and it is set in the most idyllic surroundings with nearby river and waterfall. Only a couple of minutes walk to the centre of St Jean it is located in an ideal position. Jean Francois was so friendly and... More

What a pleasant surprise to stay at this lovely BandB. Jean Francois is host to a beautiful place with interesting and whimsical artwork. A beautiful setting and his sweet dog Subie watches over all activities at the house. A true delight and we highly recommend!

Had a great stay with two other friends at this fine establishment. We wanted to hike some of the hills in the adjacent vicinity of St Jean Pied de Port. Jean-Francois is a brilliant host and has a in depth knowledge of the surrounding hiking trails. Rooms were comfortable, spacious, clean and breakfast was continental with local produce! Would love... More
