Christine and her brother (owners) go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need during your visit. We stayed for three nights before starting the Camino (our bags were lost by Air France and we had to wait until they were delivered). Christine coordinated the bag deliveries (my French is atrocious and I wasn’t able to communicate well with the delivery driver so I ran down the stairs and she willingly got on the phone) over the course of two days & made sure we were comfortable during an extremely stressful time. The rooms are impeccably clean - important to us during COVID - and very comfortable. We faced the street but the blackout shades kept the light out and we were able to sleep off our jet lag. We ate two delicious dinners at the hotel and enjoyed the convenient location. There is also an elevator (if you’re a terrible packer like me and have to lug a heavy suitcase). Christine and this hotel are real gems!!…
We had a nice big room with a balcony overlooking the river. Very well maintained. Couldn’t be more central. Service at breakfast was very good. Christine and her husband run this hotel very efficiently. This was a positive but the downside was that this sometimes meant things were not always customer friendly.
The welcome was warm, friendly and helpful, the rooms comfortable and clean and the shower had plenty of hot water!! The breakfast was good but limited. The location is great- very central but without having to cope with dragging your luggage over cobblestones!! There is a lift to make access to upper levels easy but the staircase of old wood is beautiful.
it feels like you are stepping in to Christines home (although rather large and beautiful). Our stay was everything we could have asked for from the moment we opened the door being met by Christine. This home is run by family and has been in family possession for 350 years! The food (cooked by Christine’s husband) is superb and delightfully presented. We felt spoiled when all we were really looking for was a good nights sleep and a good meal before tackling the Camino. The quality far surpassed our expectations. You will not be disappointed. Merci beaucoup from Richard and Karen
This hotel, run by a French couple is one of the nicest places I’ve stayed. It’s a 350 year old building in wonderful condition, beautifully run, clean and incredibly comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is fresh and sufficient. The hotel is in the centre of town, giving easy access to what ever one wishes to do. There is a restaurant on site, but I did not eat at it.
A perfect simple start to our holiday. Our room was large, basic but clean with a lovely big bed and everything you would need in a very simple way, with lovely views of the river. The owner was delightful, service excellent and food good. As the name suggests it is located in a perfect location for exploring the pretty town.
We stayed here in April for 2 nights to get over the jet lag from Australia. As the name suggests, very central and a perfect and pretty location on the river to explore St. J P de P. Staff were really friendly; nothing was too much trouble.
As a regular visitor to St Jean Pied de Port, and very fortunate and grateful for that, whenever you want to dine in style there is only one place to go. Hotel Central dots all the ‘i’s and crosses all the ‘t’s. The menu hosts a wide selection of fish, chicken, lamb and beef dishes. Always cooked and served perfectly. The long-serving staff team are exceptional in their skill and attention to detail and the warmth of welcome never chills. It is beautifully positioned beside the river with the option to eat al fresco.
food absolutly gorgeous. The owner very very nice. i will be back . beautiful town. first stop on my way to logrono. you need to eat (tournedos rossignol) with a nice glass of st emilion. what else to a start of a great walk
This is where we decided to start on our walk. St Jean is a popular place for people to start their pilgrimage. This hotel is comfortable and the owners are friendly and helpful. The restaurant could do with some updating of the menu. The room was small but clean and comfortable with a good shower. Breakfast was typical and very nice.
