Hotel's Favorite
This was by far the largest suite we stayed in during our trip and it was so comfortable. The innkeep who runs the place is like a weathered version of Crocodile Dundee and is so lovely and kind. There is a resident cat named Smooch you may run into on the property, and its close enough to walk to the very tiny downtown. Definitely worth the stay!

This was our second stay here. It’s a great stay for visiting Hobbiton. You can walk to grocery stores and restaurants (truly just a couple minutes out the door). We used the on site laundry (coin operated and appreciated) and took advantage of the pool. At first we thought, “Oh no…this cupcake of a bed is so soft we’ll never walk again” and then in the morning marveled at what great sleep we got. For what it is—this place is perfect: there’s a kitchenette, it’s clean, owners are attentive, and all is well!

We stayed one night here to visit Hobbiton as part of a larger road trip. Overall, it was a nice stay. The motel is basic, but comfortable. Our room was a little cramped with 2 people, but for one night, it was fine. The central business district in town starts about a block away, so it's easy to walk over for a coffee or breakfast. My only complaint is that we did a load of laundry while we were there and the dryer didn't work well. I spent 8 dollars trying to dry one load and still ended up with wet clothes.

This Motel was a real find. The room was spotless and the Motel was well maintained, with a great childrens playing area and pool. A very easy walk to the centre of town. The staff were so friendly and the owner was kind enough to let us store our bikes in his lock up shed. This is a gem in Matamata and we would highly recommend this Motel to future travellers.

Amazing motel if you've got kids, they absolutely loved the tramp, bikes/scooters and playground and wanted to stay longer.
The staff were amazing, I had accidentally booked for the wrong month online and they were still able to fit us in - completely my mistake, but they were so awesome moving things around, which could've been very stressful with a 5 yr & 1 yr old.
Room was really spacious and looked out to the playground area, if we had more time, it would've been a great spot to let the kids play and sit and relax.
Spa was really nice on a frosty morning.
Would definitely book again if heading to Matamata :)

Great location - easy walk to restaurants and amenities in MataMata. Tony is super friendly and informative. Plenty safe storage for our bikes, rooms are absolutely spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. Great end to our Hauraki Trail trip. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

This place is an absolute gem! Located on the Main Street in Matamata, it was centrally located for walkable evening dining options and just a quick drive to Hobbiton. Our room had a small kitchenette with a sitting room, and separate bedroom. I loved the spacious bathroom.

This is a lovely and very friendly motel. The rooms have all been so thoughtfully and tastefully decorated. They even included little extras like comfy bath robes for each guest. The motel includes a pool, spa, kids play area and lots of outdoor space.

Very nice and modern must be fairly new, owners were very a living. This unit was very well appointed aminaties, close to town and walking to resturants and cafes. We ordered in from a local pizza shop really great pizza yummy

There's a bus close by so you can just walk up the road. Remember to take water bottles with you and have heaps of fun! Enjoy the cider at Hobbiton's little pub too!!
