I stayed one week at the end of August at the Corte San Giuseppe together with my girlfriend. I can say that everything was perfect. The building is a real old one located in the very center of the old town in Nardò ( so the location is definetly suggestive and close to lots of nice spots and restaurants). We staied in the "Taberna", that is a basement room in the back of the building, you can get it from a narrow and traditional street so that you feel like being isolated from the rest of the world ( this fact makes it perfect to rest after a busy day of fun); since it was the cheapest room i guess that the other rooms could be even better than Taberna one ( that was super nice too!). The host, Giuseppe ( or...prof). For the friends of him ) was very friendly! He constantly took care of us during the breakfast, recommending us to eat a lot, and so we did, since everything was super tasty! He also gave us lots of advices about what to see and where to go. For all these reasons i strongly recommend Corte San Giuseppe to everyone who wish to visit "The Salento", ( don't forget that Nardò is even in the middle of Salento and this thing allows you to take a little time to get everywhere else! Turning The Corte San Giuseppe into your "base camp"! ) EB

This very old building in the heart of old Nardo has masses of character, and from the outset I would say we had a wonderful time staying here for 6 days in September. We had been recommended to stay here by Spencer Wain, the organiser of bike tour holidays in and around Nardo and Puglia in general (review to come). The building dates back to about 16th Century. Our room had a small balcony facing a church (about 20m away), and the bed, bathroom and small kitchen area were all very nice. Plenty of hot water, and a bath which was nice (many B&B's only have shower). Breakfast was a real treat, with lots of different pastries/cereals/fruit, and a very good coffee machine that made excellent coffee. The owners were very friendly, and attentive, and genuinly concerned that you were having a nice stay in their B&B. The only criticism I would make is that breakfast would have benefitted from a savoury choice such as cheese or ham, along with all the sweet pastries. After 6 days, another custard or nutella filled pastry doesn't quite have the same appeal! The location is great, but you have to realise that in an old walled city, noise echos around the streets, so if a cat is howling at 2am, it is really loud.On sunday the church bells start at around 6am, so be aware of that, and enjoy it. Unusually, there were a few parking places in front of the B&B, and we were lucky to be able to park outside everyday when returning from the beach or a cycle tour. Favourite beach 15mins away was Santa Maria de Bagna.

Probably the biggest room I have ever had at a B&B, with kitchen area and large mezzanine area which we never even used. Small balcony overlooking the church (which was great except for the bells on Sunday morning!). Very friendly and cooperative owners. Standard but plentiful breakfast, a few extra touches like home-made cakes would make this B&B really special. Free Wi-fi and air-conditioning. We found it easier to park just outside the centre. I was slightly disppointed by Nardò, which was almost empty in summer, with only tourists wandering around, probably because all the locals are at the sea, but it is a great base for visiting the area, with lovely beaches nearby and lots of things to visit

after a less-than-satisfactory experience elsewhere we luckily found this nice place. The price is much better than at the coast, but also good compared to others inland. The room we had was large enough for our whole family: two adults and two kids. The wooden ceiling was very nice, the whole apartment very well kept, with a nice flair. For a full apartment the kitchen corner would be small, but for a B&B it is definitely a plus to have a little space to prepare some things, particularly with kids. In addition there is a nice common room downstairs where you can have breakfast (with fresh fruit next to the other, more usual choices). On top of it all, very friendly owner who were very helpful in whatever questions we had. Absolutely recommendable!

Excellent! We stayed in apartment A for 5 nights. The apartment was spacious, rustic and felt like we had our our little piece of Italy. This apartment has a lovely roof terrace which over looks the roof tops of Nardo - perfect for a Summer night! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. We booked online and they replied quickly to our email and in English. The breakfast at the local bar was a pastry and fresh coffee which was fantastic aswell as giving us a basket of goodies like tea, extra coffee, milk and biscuits to have in the apartment. Nardo is a lovely town with good restaurants and bars. It is within easy access of all the main tourist areas such as Galipoli, Ortranto and Leece although a car certainly makes it easier to get around this part of Italy. Definitely would recommend this - amazing value!!
