Kasbah Tamadot is Sir Richard Branson's award-winning retreat situated in the spectacular Atlas Mountains in Morocco, just 45 minutes from Marrakesh. This beautiful Moroccan retreat, with 42 individually decorated rooms, riads, tents and suites, some with hot tubs or private pools, is ideal for rest and relaxation; you can do as much or as little as you like. Indulge in two restaurants, stay active on the tennis courts, unwind in the spa, or simply soak up the Atlas Mountains views poolside.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
The Kasbah was a part of our Morocco and Kenya adventure to celebrate my recent retirement. My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the Superior Suite #32 on the top floor which afforded a panoramic view of the Kasbah and its surroundings. We will remember forever the glow of the evening sunlight on our terrace taking us from one magic moment to another. You really own your experience. You can keep as busy or as relaxed as you wish. We had a short stay and wanted to soak in the ambiance: we did the complimentary Moroccan tea making tutorial, watched the movie Casablanca under the skies which was truly a treat, and indulged in elaborate meals. I highly recommend individual yogurt servings made 'in house' overnight, with freshly prepared, literally in front of your eyes, Moroccan Msemmen bread for breakfast. It's a place where you are pampered like royalty and you wistfully dream that this what retirement should be like! Alas! We are back home in Vancouver Canada and vowed to each other that we shall do it again! And at least for a few days to give it justice! Don't be put off by August high temperatures! With the pool, shady gardens and evening breeze to the rescue, you will want your stay to never end. We were leaving Kenya when we learnt about the devastating earthquake in Morocco. On our journey we witnessed how resilient and resourceful people of Morocco are. We believe that support of the hospitality industry in this country will play an integral part in its restoration.

Dear Lara, Thank you for taking the time to share your incredible experience at Kasbah Tamadot. I am thrilled to hear that your suite and its panoramic views added to the magic of your recent retirement celebration. A spectacular setting. Staff are delightful and could not be more helpful. Last night Ishmael was really interesting about Berber history as well as being an excellent waiter. Hamid (I hope I have remembered his name correctly) has been especially helpful with breakfast that we like to have sitting in the sun on the terrace of our Berber tent. The mini bar is well stocked, wine, beer and sodas and is included in the price. Spirits are not included in the mini bar, but are available from room service.
Downside of our Berber tent: the wall separating the bathroom and sleeping area does not go up to the ceiling, therefore, bathroom pongs can be shared! There is a step up from seating area to sleeping and bathroom areas, tricky to manoeuvre a mid night wee, without disturbing a sleeping partner!!
One of the things that attracted us to Tamadot was the small size and the fact that the staff are local Berbers. The site is being developed and we understand that means that they will be getting staff from outside the area. Shame! True luxury is privacy and quiet.
Food is good and aimed at the European palate as well as Moroccan tagines etc. The dining room is in a HUGE Berber style tent with fires at each end, and can be chilly, we are here in October. despite the patio type heaters. Bring a jumper!
A great experience. Thank you!

A phenomenal property with stunning views and the perfect way to end our 18-night trip to Morocco, with 3 full days of rest and relaxation. Our Berber tent was excellent and our massages at the spa some of the best we’ve ever had. The pool was the perfect temperature.
Then why only a 4 star review? The service, particularly at the pool, was “hit and miss”. We expected much better service at a property of this caliber: we expected it to be the best service during our time in Morocco and it was not.
Our first night, the service in the main dining room was not good and we were not impressed with the menu. Thus, the second night we ordered room service (4 of us) and they brought our desserts that included ice cream with the main courses, so we were scrambling to find room in our mini-fridges to put our desserts so they would not melt while we ate our main courses: again, we expected better.
The third night we went to the Berber buffet feast and it was excellent! The fourth night we went back to the main dining room and the menu was much better, the food very good, and service okay (not great).
Overall, though, we are very glad we ended at this property and would go back.

We had arrived from the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh so the quiet oasis at Kasbah Tamadot was very welcome, its an hour or so from Marrakesh medina and the last bit is unsurprisingly winding and uphill as the Kasbah is at about 4400ft. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded on arrival (thanks!) and were given a welcome drink and a short orientation tour … the property is beautifully decorated and the gardens (and pool area) are spectacular. Our room was large and very welcoming with a lovely shower and bath in a spacious bathroom. There are a number of pleasing small touches (mini bar is complimentary, Bose sound link speaker, sunhats) in the room that give a sense of luxury ands personalisation (the welcome letter was first names). The staff are all incredibly attentive, polite and friendly it was a real pleasure to spend time with them in their Kasbah. The menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner were all good .. we can highly recommend the salads (and the on site baked bread) for lunch and the gnocchi starter and crispy apple for desert from the dinner menu. The pool area was quiet and wonderful spot to spend a couple of hours in the sun relaxing after a mornings hike in the surrounding hills. One of the better hotels we have enjoyed anywhere in the world.

I have wanted to visit this property ever since we moved to Morocco in September 2020. It was truly a bucket-list stay for us. We finally booked it and I have to say, I was pretty underwhelmed. First, the PROS: The service at check-in was fabulous. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and a nice tour of the property. The grounds are AMAZING. It's all beautifully manicured and the property itself might draw me back someday, maybe. The CONS: The property is (literally) right off the main road you drive in on. The photos made it seem more remote, so this surprised me. Secondly, when we arrived at our room, non of the outside patio furniture was set up and after finding ourselves wanting to sit outside in the evening to enjoy the beautiful weather (and views!) we had to dig out the patio cushions and get it all set up ourselves. I'm sure if we had called and requested help they would have been happy to assist, but it was faster to just do it ourselves. I'm really not usually this picky, but at these prices (and reputation) it surprised me to arrive without it already being done. Next, we decided to visit the spa and treat ourselves to a relaxing massage. The spa facility is lovely, and they started by giving us a short survey about the type of massage we wanted (complete with a choice of music, which was a thoughtful touch). We both requested a relaxation massage, and when asked if we wanted deep tissue work we both said no. After the session, they brought us our bill and we had both been charged for a "deep tissue Moroccan massage" which was considerably more expensive. I tried to explain that was not what we requested (or received) but they insisted it was correct. I spoke with the manager at checkout and they fixed it immediately, which we appreciated, but it did appear as though they were intentionally charging us for the more expensive service, then waiting to see if we refuted the charge. Not unlike other instances I've experienced here in Morocco (being American always comes with a tourist tax, here) but again, at this price and level of service, I expected better and didn't like feeling as though we were being taken advantage of. Dinner that night in the restaurant was underwhelming and the portions were small. I've had far better meals in tiny and inexpensive riads here. Overall, at this price point, I would not recommend as there are far better resorts and hotels here that offer much better food and service. The Sultana hotels, for instance, are at a similar price point and offer a far more luxurious experience if that's what you're after.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at this property. From the beautiful setting, to the gardens and spa and pool. The concierge was extremely helpful and answered all our requests and emails in advance to make proper arrangements. The breakfast was exceptional with lots of cold and hot options, we were full and happy after breakfast. The service is superb and quick from room service to the pool service to dinner. Always had amazing service. We did a trek to the village and that went super well and easy.
We thought the price for the activities was quite high for what it was but I guess when you are booking with such an expensive hotel then everything will be priced high. It just seems like such an upcharge for a hike. And none of the guides would book with us directly said we had to go thru the hotel.
We stayed in the tented suites, amazing! The view and patio and the bathroom divine, loved how it was done and so spacious.
The restaurant was beautiful, but we thought the dinner with the morocco selections was just ok. Wish there were more traditional and a bit tastier. The Italian options and salads were delicious. The Moroccan soup also delicious.
We had spa treatments and all of us were in heaven. We each had a wonderful service and so relaxing. We also used hammam for a little.
Overall wonderful stay, just wish there were options to eat outside the resort and book activities on our own for less expensive options.

I reserved for lunch last Sunday 29th October 2024 at 13:30.
Upon our arrival we pulled over to let my family into the hotel. I asked where the parking was and I was told to hand over my car keys and the staff will park the car for me. I said to them that I have never in the past given my car to anyone so I told both of them to please be very careful with the car, and they said ‘Koun Hani’ which means ‘rest assured’.
When we finished our lunch we went to the tent for tea and we walked to the playing court, then one of the staff came to us and he walked us straight to the main gate where the car was already at the front gate without us asking for it. My wife asked him why are you taking us to the car? He said ‘that’s it it’s finished’. We all looked at each other with astonishment as it did not sound professional and it did not feel right. The other person just placed the key of my car in my hand and he walked which also was not the way to hand over a car (usually I would have expected him to walk me to the car and I would usually tip) but that didn’t happen.
When I came back home I saw the corner of the bumper of my car damaged. That’s when I realised why they brought the car back and walked us to the exit gate without asking.

We spent an amazing night at Kasbah. Highly recommend this luxury hotel! Our family stayed in the master suite and loved the complimentary mini-bar, snacks, slippers, and toiletries. The hotel grounds are impeccable. Watching the stars on the grass lawn under the tents is what Moroccan dreams are made of! Outstanding food and service. Excellent deep tissue massage. My kids loved the animals and games throughout the resort. This is a true 5 Star experience!!!

This place is well known and rightly so. It really is a retreat in the mountains, its serene, quiet, comfortable, luxurious and you can really escape here. The decor has depth and this place has been very thoughtfully created, creating a very cool ambience and vibe. There are so many things to do, all in your own time, whether is nothing but lounge on your terrace or by the pool or whether you want to play games from tennis, table tennis to chess and giant draughts, just good old leisure pastimes in an amazing mountainous setting. Its a film set, dramatic landscape and all in total comfort. We had wonderful dinners on the terrace overlooking a ravine and we had a beautifully set Moroccan dinner in a courtyard with a pool filled with candles and flowers. Staff were very attentive, we felt looked after and were treated so well. Although we booked a suite for 3, we asked if they had a separate room for my son, they obliged immediately. Nothing was too much or a problem. Highly recommend staying here, took about 90mins from Marrakech.

We were a bit nervous on booking that the rebuilding work would be complete, especially when we arrived to find the main entrance closed. We were soon relaxed though and had an amazing three nights in such a beautiful location with the friendliest, most helpful hotel staff that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I soon lost track of time staying in our Berber tent (which was large and well appointed with a private balcony and garden area). Food is very high quality and the dining restaurant very intimate. Highlights included watching ‘Casablanca’ by starlight and visiting a local Berber village. The pool is amazing and the Spa massage one of the best that I have had. We could have happily stayed longer.
