Francesca is a perfect host, discrete but always helpful, she gave us many great suggestions for places to visit and she speaks fluent English too. My sister and I stayed in the Via Tivoli house for a week at the end of May and really felt that we had been blessed with finding the perfect little house for our needs. We like to stay in places which give a feel for the local life and we certainly achieved that. Francesca was exceedingly helpful both with... More

Thanks a lot, Caroline. I'm happy you appreciated our simple but warm welcome and you liked "your house" in Scicli. What we did for you, and when possible for other guests, was to make you feel like visiting a Sicilian family in a Sicilian town and live like a local. As you mention, we love suggesting local seasonal produces and... More

We stayed at C'era Una Volta for the last five days of our holiday in Sicily. After seeing all the sights,we needed a rest! C'era Una Volta gave us that. It was in a great location, just on the outskirts of the town, but no more than 5/6 minutes to the centre, where there are lots of cafes and restaurants.... More

For 5 weather perfect days in mid- April we stayed at C'era Una Votta Scicli and it was not long enough - definitely needed more time to savor more the beautiful town and the comfortable accommodations. As the name implies, it did feel like once upon a time - experiencing the past in the present while in Scicli. A pleasant... More

As you say, this area is full of things to see, to taste and to surprisingly discover. We loved being on your side. We liked making you feel home, while experiencing the sicilian lifestyle.... More

We rented this restored old house for three nights and loved it. Conveniences such as modern bathroom, and laundry facilities - but in the old part of town within walking distance of places to eat - churches to see and watching the locals watch the filming of another Montalbano epic! I particularly loved the roof terrace - clothes dried there... More

You've been here while Palomar was filming another episode of Inspector Montalbano, that we will see on tv next year.... you are right. The historical centre was closed to traffic and anybody could quietly walk around (as it usually happens on the weekends) and admire churches and palaces while tasting a glass of local wine or a delicous and refreshing... We enjoyed our time here so much that we extended our stay. Francesca and the girls met us and showed us to our new home. It is a delightfully restored old cottage, in keeping with the historic ambience of this picturesque town. Yes, back again for a third time and it felt as if time had stood still. We arrived by train from Siracusa, and after a leisurely lunch at Caffe Sicilia, we walked round to Piedagrotta, stopping to talk to the friendly tinsmiths near St Bartolomeo. As we walked round the corner to go to Piedagrotta, Francesca was waiting to greet... More

We stayed for 6 nights (2 people) and loved this house. Excellent hosting by Francesca who responded with care with anything we needed. As we didn't rent a car, we made use of buses and trains, with francesca offering us a lift to Sampieri on one of the days. The accomodation is perfect, great location, peaceful and private. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
C'era una volta (once upon a time).....is the "motto" we chose for the two self-catering accommodations, Via Pedigrotta and Via Tivoli. Newly restored and tastefully furnished they are meant for couples or families who wish to enjoy a quiet and comfortable stay surrounded by nature and history while discovering Southeastern Sicily. The charming furniture reminding the past together with the most modern comforts are thought to grant a pleasant and quiet stay to families with children and couples. "Make yourself at home" is our motto. Dining-living area furnished with wooden table and chairs and a comfortable sofa, a fully-equipped kitchen corner, a comfortable double bedroom and one bathroom with shower ( Via Piedigrotta has got two bathrooms). Both have a suggestive roof-terrace from which you can enjoy the view of the surrounding nature and architectures and spend your time in total relax. Around the houses only narrow pedestrian safe alleys. Via Piedigrotta can host up to 4 adults while Via Tivoli is meant for 2/3.
