Le Vasa has beautiful grounds, the pool is nice, big and refreshing. We had a superior room and it was big enough for my family of 5. Soraya was very accommodating with helping me with my reservation and changes that happened due to a mishap with flight arrangements. thank you Soraya. We loved how the room was right over the ocean, so you walk out of your room to the view of the ocean and Savai'i island, breathtaking every morning. The shower had hot water with great water pressure. You just have to ask to turn the hot water on. There is a mini-fridge and small kitchenette.

The issue(s) we had was that there was no breakfast included, a lot of other resorts have breakfast included. But no meals or drinks were included on the price. The distance is nice from the airport but about an hour out from town. Lagoon was really muddy so we couldn't even access it. Also, I felt we were being a bit jipped on being charged for various fees. We had a family member visit us and brought us dinner, but because we couldn't all fit comfortably in our room, we sat by the beach on the tables and they charged us $150 tala. Because we brought outside food, they charged us. When they originally approached us about it, they told us $100 tala and when they came back, they said it would be $150.00 tala. We spent more than $150 on food and drinks for the whole stay, you would think they would waive that outside food fee. When I checked out, they double charged me $270 tala and an extra $100 tala for an airport transfer that we didn't even use. Both items, I wouldn't have known if I didn't ask them, they would've got away with those extra charges. If you are looking for exceeding customer service, you will not find it here. They will help you with what they have available but if you have any needs that they cannot provide, they pretty much just tell you to go find it in town. Not suggestions on where to go - and you have to be mindful, that you are not familiar with the area so you have no idea where you are going.
Customer service needs a lot of work. I had asked if there were any adapter plugs we could use for the night just to get us to the next day, and we were told "no, we are out". And that's pretty much all I got. No help on where to find them, nothing. And then she just started at me like, ok anything else?

Bottom line - it's a nice resort far away from anything if that is what you are looking for. If you don't want to use the restaurant, you will need to buy from town which is an hour away. And double check you check out bill and make sure you question all the charges, so they don't get you for any extra $370.00.

Thank you for saying Le Vasa has beautiful grounds, nice pool, big and refreshing. Large superior oceanfront bungalow room and Soraya was very accommodating with helping me with my reservation and changes that happened due to a mishap with flight arrangements. Sometimes communication is lost in translation and various people involved. When resorts have a restaurant and bar and they make an earning to support the staff in this department, it is not the norm for guests to bring their own food to the restaurant area and ask to use the restaurant plates and cutlery, guests still require staff service and clean up, its just a like cork fee when people bring their own drink to a restaurant that is NOT BYO and they sell wine. You had a large group of people and in all fairness the $100 or $150 WST you may have had to pay was fair considering the circumstances. Unfortunately if guests need adapters they really should bring them while traveling, the resort has some although if they are out with other guests there is not much we can do. Always doing our best to improve.

I'll start by saying, Le Vasa's biggest asset is the staff. Friendly, helpful and accommodating. The hotel is what I expected for the cost, nothing flashy and the amenities were minimum. The location was pretty but the ocean around the resort is muddy, not the crystal clear water you want to swim and relax in. The areas I think they fell short for me is a lack of clear expectations on the room I selected and the food.

I selected the garden room and while it did say it was by reception, my room literally faced a driveway. I had to listen to talking staff and people coming and going throughout the morning and evening. There was also a room staff entered on the other side of my room which could be quite loud. The other garden room did in fact face a little garden and I couldn't help but think it would be much quieter and peaceful. But this was the least expensive room in the hotel, so I got what I paid for. The room was clean for the most part, air conditioning worked well. I would recommend they put in thicker curtains for additional privacy since the room is so exposed and if possible better lighting as the room is very dark. Another negative was the shower took 5-10 minutes to run hot water. My last morning after waiting close to 10 minutes, I had to shower in cold water as I couldn't wait any longer to see if it ever got hot. I didn't complain as it was minor inconvenience and I know this is just how things go on a small island. That being said even in a hot tropical area, a guaranteed at least warm shower would be nice.

The food was another mixed review for me. Both lunches I had were disappointing. The food is described one way and comes out different with missing or substituted ingredients. I know a lot of this is based on what they have available to them so again I never complained, but it was annoying to be paying for a burger with bacon for example, and have no bacon. The one breakfast I had again it came out missing bacon even though it was clearly described as coming with it. This time I did let them know and they brought it out for me in a few minutes. The three dinners I had were quite good, so no complaints there. There was also mixed communication on happy hour, being told different hours by different people or that it wasn't available at all. Some of the staff in the restaurant speak almost no English, so a little difficult to translate what I wanted.

Overall if you're willing to pay more for a fale with an ocean view this is probably a good option for you. If you are working on a budget, it's still a nice place to stay but go with tempered expectations.

The place is perfect for family getaway, various activities for the family and the pool is great. The only upset was the Christmas Dinner as I was told when making our booking that it was a buffet dinner, but it wasn't, so the money paid for the dinner was not worth the food we expected for that price. Staff were nice and we do look forward to coming back again 😍 Suggest having a TV in the rooms for the news to watch and relax after a day in the sun!

We stayed two singles nights at this resort, one in a large sea front room at their mid price, and a week later a small cabin overlooking the lagoon with cold shower at the cheapest price as this was all that was available when I emailed about 8 weeks beforehand. Both were excellent. Both clean and very comfortable. The cheap cabin was surprisingly well appointed with a bar fridge, air con, robes, deck and seating.
The gardens and facilities are great. The bar and restaurant served up some very tasty creative dishes. The cocktails were delicious. It was a great space to sit looking out at the sea or the swimming pool and gardens. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I could only booking by sending an email and waiting a few days. It worked out though just not as fast as the usual website booking process for other hotels.
The location is close to the ferry and the airport, in the other direction than Apia city. The ferry terminal is about 10 minutes away, and the airport 15 minutes. There are only petrol stations close to Apia though so if you are returning a hire car you will need to factor in where to fill up with petrol at the end of your trip. Also petrol stations aren't open on Sundays (not much is). The Giant Clam Sanctuary is only about an hour away (they drive slowly).

We stayed at Le vasa 10/08/23 for 4 nights 2 adults and 4 year old,

location was good, sea front bungalow was comfortable our bed was great, we enjoyed feeding the crabs from the deck, chilling drinking wine on the deck, swimming pool was nice although It could have done with a few more seats and some more shade around and over the pool. Fire night was great, friendly staff, the restaurant area was nice and had a great Samoan feel.

Things we didn't like,

The bungalow (#5 we stayed in) the whole place was just a little bit run down needed a lot of maintenance, the slatted windows either wouldn't close or the Glass falling out of them, you had to fight with the front door to get it to close.
I install heat pumps for a living and the one in that bungalow was barely cooling and bungalow four was having major issues with there's also, There were some kind of wood eating termite that everyday there was a new pile of wood debris next to the kettle and the bathroom door.
The swimming pool there was heaps of flys in it, think it was a bit full and the top skimmers weren't doing their job properly. Those two bench seats are falling to pieces around there.
The spa pool was not working and was empty even though they showed photos of it with people in it three days after we left on Facebook haven't been working for months we found out. Bit misleading
The food was hit or miss, the first night the food was amazing the second night we ordered the same thing and it was average.
They say the resort is kid friendly but there's NO kids menu. Ended up just feeding our daughter some of our dinner.
There is no wine on the menu.

The staff although friendly were just not very attentive at all we kept finding ourselves having to seek them out to take our order or even just to give us a menu. We were never asked if we would like a top-up on drinks ever. They really needed someone to take charge and run it properly.

I would say in its current state this resort is a 2 1/2 star which is a real shame because it's a beautiful location. The bungalows and heat pumps really need some maintenance. And the termite problem sorted out where they won't be any walls left. Having read a lot of the other reviews and reply's on booking.com and Google I'm not sure the owners really care. I feel a that is also overpriced as
We stayed at saletoga sands after and that's a 4 Star resort and it shows. it was the same price too almost per night.

We had a mixed experience at Le Vasa Resort. After arriving with a friend who was bumped from her flight, we offered her a ride since her pre-arranged transfer didn’t show up. The resort had mistakenly thought she’d arrive the following day, but they waived her $50 WST charge after we pushed that it wasn't her fault she wasn't on the original flight and she had rang ahead from NZ to inform them of the flight mishap.

Check-in was supposed to start from 2pm, but our rooms weren’t ready until after 3pm. We were asked to wait in our friend's room until ours was prepared, which was a bit inconvenient. It took 45 minutes of waiting before we realized our bungalow was ready but no one informed us.

The resort’s location is stunning, with beautiful views and a picturesque setting. However, our friend's overwater bungalow lacked privacy in the kitchenette area as there are no curtains when you are undressing to get into the shower (especially even more so at night, we went out to see for ourselves), and the hot water was unreliable. My partner and I stayed in a standard bungalow which was cute but would feel cramped for more than one night. The air conditioning was a plus, and we appreciated the good-quality towels.

The property itself is somewhat run-down, though maintenance work was ongoing. The decor felt disjointed, with European-style paintings and mismatched items overshadowing the lovely traditional Samoan carvings. More is less and it's a shame that the Samoan architectural designs and art pieces were swallowed up by all the other random bits and pieces around the place.

Service was hit or miss. While the waitresses were friendly, their training seemed lacking, leading to long wait times and confusion over price and payments. The Fijian bar manager was a standout, providing excellent service.

On a positive note, the dinner chefs delivered exceptional meals, and we commended them for their skill. The sunset views and ocean-side fales were lovely, though kayak usage was unclear, leading us to avoid them.

Check-out was smooth with a knowledgeable receptionist, contrasting with our check-in experience. Overall, while the stay had its highlights, it’s uncertain if we’d return soon or recommend to others.

Lovely setting with terrific views to the nearby islands and probably one of the cleanest and best kept resorts we have stayed at.
Sadly the down side that the owners wanted your money as a priority put a dampener on things once you become aware.
A high deposit and no refund policy was the start then a week before you arrive they take the the rest of your money. Apon arrival you are then told 4% will be added to cover card costs and beach towels are refundable when you leave at Tala 20 each. We did then state we would not endorse any other payment without our consultation.
Some days you are charged for water at your meal other days not. Other days coffee and juice are included others not, so you need to check constantly.
We have always found in the Pacific Islands the staff are happy and friendly and make you warmly welcome but not sadly here as something obviously is a back room problem !

Great location. Beautiful landscaping the pool was nice . The restaurant and service was excellent.
We booked late and had one of the small single bungalow. I would reserve earlier and choose one of the multi bedroom s. Very clean but the mattress was thin and we had to walk across the path to the bathroom and a cold shower. A few decades ago this would be a dream accommodation for a young back packer but this more vintage traveler needed a little more comfort. Still the location somewhat near the airport, the beautiful location and the friendly accommodating staff would bring me back ( we booked a day trip to a cenote ,,the survivor waterfall and an astonishing snorkle with the giant clams. Not to be missed.

We booked the standard room wanting a basic but clean room for a one night layover as it is close to the airport. What we got was very upsetting, a dark and dingy room that was infested with cockroaches and had a leaky toilet that smelt so rotten. The bed was infested with bed bugs which we actually saw after getting very little sleep, weeks later we are still in a bad way with all the bites. Advised reception the next morning and all they could say was that they spray the room. We saw the mattress being pulled out and it was filthy and old. On arrival at the correct time we were told our room wasn't ready when it clearly was, after checking other reviews it seems they say this to all the guests so they spend at the restaurant. Saw a few customers getting upset about their rooms and also for being charged for filtered tap water. Breakfast, I asked to order and pay for extra toast but was told I couldn't. Staff were friendly and doing their best but their hands seem tied to resolve anything. The location was lovely even though you can't swim in the sea, pool nice but very deep all over. This would have once been a beautiful resort but seems to have been left to become run down. I would definitely would not return even for a layover.

We spent 6 magic nights at Le Vasa Resort and we were so impressed!

Our Fale (Fale 2) was beautiful, clean and excellent value for the money. A very comfortable bed, with crisp white sheets, air conditioning unit, private bathroom, and a kitchenette, along with a couch, table & chairs inside; 2 chairs and wee table outside on the balcony overlooking the South Pacific Ocean, which we could see from our bed!

The restaurant and bar were great, serving delicious food and the most extensive array of cocktails I've ever seen. We tried, but failed, to get through the whole list! The swimming pool is great, deep enough for adults, and the perfect temperature to cool off, but not feel cold to enter.

Finally, the staff. Soraya and the team were incredible - they were kind, helpful, responsive and always happy to help us. An amazing crew who we left feeling like we were aiga (family).

Fa'afetai lava, Le Vasa! We loved staying with you!
