With an enchanting beachfront location and a minimalist design, The Library on Chaweng Beach is the perfect place to curl up with a good book. True to its name, this unique conceptual hotel features an expansive library of over 1,400 books available for guests to borrow. This wealth of literature is complimented by the clean lines and bold design choices of its 46 luxury pool villas, suites and studios, each furnished with a reassuring assortment of premium amenities and entertainment technology. Furthermore, a world-renowned red swimming pool provides stark contrast to the alabaster-white buildings of the property. But the enduring respect for the surrounding landscape is unequivocal. From The Page restaurant holding fort on the beachfront, to the Drink Gallery and Tapas Bar fronting the street, The Library seals the chasm between nature and modern life.

I am drawn to the most interesting place and this trip was no different. I looked through Four Seasons and Conrad and some how...found The Secret, @TheLibrarySamui. It was meant to be! From the first email to the last...the host, “Jean” was on top of it, made sure every detail was noted. Had high expectations and this resort top-it-all. Pick up/drop off was seamless. Jean and the driver arrived on-time, AC blasted, super clean car filled with drinks. Once we arrived to the resort, it was a moment of ‘took my breath away’. Every portion of the view was exactly the same. Our Chapter 17 was huge, spacious, fully-stocked, spotless clean. Our very own pool in between the living room and bedroom, enough said! The red pool, the Secret area, the Index, the restaurant...and ummmm, yes, the beach! Thank you for all the customized service, super friendly staff. Immaculate!!! Whimsical experience, I am a big fan. Ready for the next chapter...

Hotel's Favorite
Super stylish, relaxing hotel set in tranquil grounds in a fabulous location right on the beach. The infamous red swimming pool is very cool. Great outside bar and restaurant area (the 'breakfast on the beach' option was wonderfully indulgent) and excellent cocktails and wine list. Staff friendly and professional, especially the reception staff. Hotel manager came to introduce herself and check we were enjoying our stay, which was a nice touch. All in all, feels like a rather unique and special experience. Would very happily stay there again.

Starting again from scratch after deleting my previous TA account. We were recently in Koh Samui Thailand for a quick beach holiday in the September school hols. Having been to various nearby destinations over the many years, (Koh Samui, different parts of Bali, Phuket, Bintan, Malaysia) ...we were lamenting not being able to find a non rocky, non tar-ry, clean beach destination for a short hol, when i chanced upon the Secret Pool Villas at The Library in Koh samui, along Chaweng Beach. What clinched it for me to try this out was a) pictures of a white sand beach and blue waters, with actual people, actually swimming in it (yes i know, i too am weary of internet “pictures” promising heaven...:-), and b) pictures and a description of rooms that were very modern and with very interesting design and spacious layout and description of facilities and square footage. So we set off, Me, wife and 11 yr old daughter with not a lot of expectation but just some family downtime together. These are my findings: 1) SERVICE: we had read some reviews that talked about indifferent service and hard to get attention etc. This is not true. we were greeted at the Airport by our Villa host MONICA who over the next 4 days was super attentive and helpful. THIs was the case as well with specifically EARN at the INDEX, ROCKY at poolside and restaurant and LYN at the PAGE restaurant. These are just 4 specific persons I am highlighting but in general, service was prompt, smiling, gracious and happy to go out of the way to please and assist us in our requests. (Btw we arrived at noon and were graciously with HUGE smiles allowed to check in early.... Wonderful start. 2) The hotel is barely 10 min from the airport which is a good thing (having been caught in Koh Samui traffic in other visits) and even though it is located in busy Chaweng area, once we turned into the compound of the premises it’s literally, suddenly “a whole new world”. Quiet, refined and stylish, but not in a loud way. We were brought into a separate check in area and served refreshments (not run of the mill at all...delicious). After “checking in and with just a hint of pride and drama, our villa host ushered us through “the black door” into a darkened room and stairway and then suddenly into an open air avenue with wonderful textured high walls on the left and right, with trees running the full length, and a mist rising up from the sides, running the full length. very drama...very (as we say in Singapore) stylo! But in very good taste. In the coming days, every time we would walk back to the villa from the beach and came into this passageway, it always had a calming effect, the temperature was cooler in this passageway and the visuals never failed to refresh us. (HUge doors for the entrances into each villa are hidden-camouflaged along the walls) 3) The Room: we had a 2000+ sq foot Villa, with private Pool-sun deck, called Chapter 12, that had a large bedroom (with a 2+ meter width King sized bed!!), with a separate living area, dining area, 2 toilets (- with bidet), 2 giant TV sets and with Blue tooth functionality. You could wake up, turn on your iphone that was charged the prev evening with multiple very considerate USB charging stations all around the bedroom/table/bed, and music would wirelessly waft throughout the villa from your phone. you could alternate pair it to the sound system in the pool-sun deck where a different set of outdoor speakers were connected. All throughout the villa are little touches that showed a lot of thought (and love, and pride) had been put into planning everything from the design-layout and functionality of this place.. (i was told that the owner took a personal interest in all the details, obtaining objects from his trips around the world and incorporating ideas into this very private boutique hotel. All the way to the colour schemes of tiles, pool agains the back drop of the sky and beach.) 4) The POOLS and BEach. There is a separate pool for some of the rooms and a very long pool and wide where u can do serious laps in the Secret Pool-Villas area, which has it’s access to the beach. the pictures on the website are entirely accurate. The Blood red pools are a huge feature-instagram-photo-op etc but once there, it really blends in very well with the high walls, open area to the beach and tiles. All very thoughtful and tasteful. Water was lovely and warm and down to the beach (though available to the public, each property pretty much kept to it’s own beach frontage). The beach was very clean, the sand was white and the water was lovely and warm. there were nearby beach activities you could get for free (kayaks paddle boards) or rent (Jet skis...did this on 2 days...great fun!) 5) restaurants: we did poolside orders and room service as well as dining in the main restaurant on most of the meals we had from breakfast, lunch a and dinner. Some of the items were wonderful and really tasty, generous and fresh (90%) of the time. OK running out of time so i shall conclude this review. I’ve tried to be as practical as possible to detail info that i would find important or necessary, so pardon the long post. Overall, i would come back again, perhaps even with friends and do the 2 bedroom villa (which would allow your own private gym). THe WRITER’s room which was the ULTIMATE ROOM -VILLA in the premises is very luxurious and opulent ( we were taken through to see a few different rooms) but we were very happy with the level of luxury in our Secret Pool 2000sq ft Villa. Overall, wonderful price, great service, great location, very interesting design hotel. Highly recommend. we will be back.!

We spent one week at The Library and I can’t say We could expect more than what we got. We received full attention on every single detail from the staff since day one and the structure is simply wonderful. I strongly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a well organised structure (the restaurant “the Page” is the best choice for “Thai Dinner”) managed by an excellent staff.

It is a pleasure to hear that you appreciated an overall relaxing and tranquil ambience of our restaurant, we are glad to learn that you really enjoyed our cuisine with good valued price and our divine wine selections.
