    Excellent Location
If you want to splurge a bit as a solo traveler pls stay at Muang Samui it’s in the best part of the island chaweng street lots of shops and restaurants, step out of the resort and it’s all there. The rooms are traditionally Thai style rooms dark woods and not much light so if this is your thing you will like it! The room cleaning is good everyday when I returned after my excursions I was amazed to see how super clean the room would be Breakfast is ok not so many varieties but enough to get your tummy smiling😃 The beach on this side of the island isn’t all that wow but it’s ok they have a swimming pool as well. They can arrange a trip to their other property Royal Muang, the beach over there is way better however the location of the resort is far from shops much more quieter area so I suggest you do a day trip to there. The reception at Muang Samui arranged for me to go to the spa at Royal Muang, the spa is built inside a cave it was an amazing experience, Nee the spa manager was so kind an welcoming I really enjoyed my time there. The Therapist That has super firm hands one of the best massages I had To book your excursions be careful, some places will just rip you off as you are a tourist🤷‍♀️ pls book at the place to the right side as you come out from the main reception the lady over there is super helpful and will make sure she books you with a good company. If you have dirty laundry to be washed she will even help with that at a good price 😀 Overall it was a good stay staff were all kind an helpful

Fantastic resort in a traditional Thai style
We really enjoyed our stay in the Muang Samui Resort. We stayed for one week at that beautigul place and we clearly wished to stay longer. The rooms are very big, comfortable, clean and nicely designed in a Thai style and every room has a private balcony or terasse with a wonderful view into the tropical garden or to the pool/beach. It's a calm place to stay in a very touristic town. The whole place is very neat and the staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed ther in the pre season so it was not too crowded at the restaurant/bar/beach. The ocean is at this location more like a lagune since there is a island in front, but that makes the water very warm and calm with no waves. Breakfast and Dinner was good but not very special. Very delicious was the food in the Samui Restaurant that also belongs to the hotel and is located right in front of the hotel. We can highly recommend this place and we have nothing to critisise. :-)
Dear biancasK2963CN, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Muang Samui Spa Resort. We are grateful that you selected our hotel to spend your holiday in our wonderful island and for giving us your recommendation here on TripAdvisor. We always strive to offer our guests the unique Thai hospitality and high-quality service, so it is wonderful to learn that you had a memorable stay in our resort. As for the room very big, comfortable, clean and nicely designed in a Thai style, the staff very friendly and helpful, the breakfast and dinner are good and delicious food at Samui Seafood Grill & restaurant we are working on action plans to ensure ultimate satisfaction. Thank you again for being our valued guests and we look forward to welcoming you back again shall your next vacation bring you back to Samui Island. A perfect, stunning resort
We loved our 6 days at the Muang Samui Spa Resort. We were due to stay in a secluded all-inclusive resort that I had booked many months ago on sale, but swapped the hotel when reviews of the other resort were not great. I am so glad we chose the Muang Samui Spa Resort. We were only on B+B but this worked out perfectly. The hotel is stunning and exactly like the photos online. We were in a ground floor room right next to the reception, but this meant only took a few steps to get back to the room every time we forget something when going out 😊. Despite being so close to the reception and main road it was peaceful and still felt secluded – even on the terrace. The beach was also literally less than 1 minute walk from the room and away from the pool so much more private. If you have kids then a poolside room would probably be better. The rooms are stunning and well laid out with an amazingly comfortable bed, aircon which cooled the room rapidly and quiet, a hot powerful shower in a huge bathroom, with room for the suitcases so the bedroom could be left clean. We got 2 x 500ml bottles of water everyday – even if we didn’t finish them. The hotel is situated perfectly – it is 5-10mins to the main noisy part of the strip and 15 mins to the night market. This means it is close to the action while being far enough away to feel secluded. The beach is stunning with a good collection of loungers and beach chairs. Despite the hotel being pretty full it never felt crowded though 1 afternoon we had to wait a while for a free lounger – no big issue as the sand is so soft. The beach bar prices are amazing considering it is a 5-star hotel. They are as cheap as most bars on the strip and the food was so good. We had lunch and dinner there and the Thai food better than a couple of highly rated restaurants on the strip. Yes it was not Thai spicy but had good fresh flavours. Breakfast has everything you could want. Fruit fridge, fresh egg station, make your own waffle mix, cold meats and chesses, pastries, hot Asian food, cereals and more. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Rai Ra Spa was amazing, 100% recommended and I have left a google review on this. Please book a package with them. The steam, scrub, massage and facial is an experience not to miss with the sound of the waves. The tour agent in the reception was so helpful with no sales push. We had a great day out exploring the island.
Dear Robin G, Wow, what an amazing recommendation here on TripAdvisor! Your description as excellent means that we have succeeded to reach our goals providing an unforgettable memory during your vacation. Thank you for such an encouragement. I am certain the team will be delighted to hear it. A perfect, stunning resort, the hotel is stunning and exactly like the photos online, the hotel situated perfectly, the beach bar price is amazing, the breakfast has everything, all the staff friendly and helpful, the Rai Ra Spa was amazing, the cleanliness, attentiveness and kindness of our staff we are always striving for. I sincerely hope that we will have the chance to accommodate you again in our Natural Elegant Boutique Resort in the near future. Best regards, Panuchanart Charoenpol Group Operation Manager

Vacation with my family. We had a great time with everyone in this resort. Breakfast has a lot of variety to choose. Even though the water at the front beach was shallow, we still enjoyed it. Staffs were so friendly and willing to help all the time. I hope we get a chance to visit this wonderful place again.

I had the most memorable stay in this wonderful hotel located in Chaweng. I came here solo but it doesn't matter because the staffs made me feel that I wasn't alone at all. The place is very convenient to everything. The room is spacious and you can really feel that you're in Thailand. Beautiful swimming pool, bountiful breakfast and most of all, amazing staff. The beach was nice but the water was shallow some of the days but they have another hotel in Cheongmon where you can stay the whole day and use their facilities. You must visit that place also, Royal Muang Samui Villas. The beach was spectacular! I'll see you again for my next visit in Koh Samui!

The hotel is not maintained at all. There is a wooden floor that has become moldy over the years, there is a moldy smell in all the rooms (we went through 5-6 rooms until we gave up). In addition, there is no net in any of the windows, so you must not open the windows so that mosquitoes do not enter. Just a terrible experience

Dear Sightseer08366245154, Greetings from Muang Samui Spa Resort! I regret to know that we did not manage to provide you the desired holiday during the time you spent in our resort. First of all, please accept my apology for the unpleasant experience; it is always our outmost goal to see all guest satisfied, nevertheless races, nationalities or religion. I wish we could say thank you for your review and having satisfied your needs, we cannot as you obviously left unhappy which is not our goal. While it is clear you were unhappy, perhaps the whole story needs to be shared with readers for better understanding. Muang Samui Spa Resort represents Traditional Thai Style architecture with plenty of greenery and furniture matching the style. We indeed use a lot of raw wood and carved materials in our suites and grounds. These details are also shared on our website as well as in every agency’s site we work with. Regarding your comments on the "there is no net in any of the windows, so you must not open the windows so that mosquitoes do not enter" normally our guest can open the window in the day time, closed from the evening. Regarding the mosquitoes, we do our outmost to control them with weekly fogging around the resort, and daily non-toxic in room spray, set up by housekeeping, however one cannot expect to eliminate them completely, in a tropical environment and country like Thailand. Nevertheless, we would like to apologize for the shortcomings have happened during your stay. We are constantly working on creative solutions to provide the best possible service to each and every guest and we have noted the missing points. Once again, I invite you to contact me directly, if there is anything I can do for you. Kind regards, Panuchanart Charoenpol om@muangsamui.com Group Operation Manager

The Muang Samui SPA Resort (not to be confused with its sister hotel, Royal Muang Samui Villas in Choeng Mon) is a beautifully-laid out hotel right on the beach at Chaweng, with access directly onto the sand. There is a huge, landscaped pool with waterfall, as well as a paddling pool for smaller children. What makes this hotel is the staff, their helpfulness, their gentle smiles and wais; be it at reception, at the Lare Lae restaurant or just passing gardeners and the cleaning staff. I have noticed recent reviews stating that bed and bathroom linen were not being changed so frequently. You need to be aware that Samui has an ongoing water shortage problem. There is a notice in the rooms about conserving water. But, if you still want your sheets changed, ask reception. When we asked, the young boy and girl cleaning our room came back in less than a half hour to take care of it. The lunches and dinners at the Lare Lae were very good (even the western food, if you don't enjoy Thai cuisine). The breakfast buffet had a wide assortment, including an egg station and fresh fruit from a serve-yourself fridge. We didn't eat at the Samui Seafood Grill & Restaurant (the hotel's fish restaurant across the road from the resort), so can't comment on that. The only negative experience we had at the hotel were the attitude and manners of other tourists. At the time we were there (middle of August), the hotel was full of mainly Israeli tourists. Some of these tourists lacked manners, left the loungers at the pool surrounded by rubbish and empty water bottles (many times I removed plastic from the pool whilst swimming) and drowned out the soft music playing at the pool with their own music. I also must say how embarrassing it was to see how some of these guests treated the gracious Thai people at this hotel, lacking any basic understanding of Thai culture and what not to do in Thailand. It is also so very sad to see that it has been necessary for the hotel to include information in the room directory on how to behave in Thailand and what is deemed insulting to Thai people. I suggested to the staff at reception that this information needs to be translated into languages other than English. If you want to reserve a sun lounger at the pool, then you have to put your towels down very early. There were also many tourists from other hotels trying to use the sun loungers on the sand, but the restaurant staff were very fast in telling them that they had to order food and drink if they wanted to remain. At this part of Chaweng, the water is very shallow and never gets deep, as the bay is more a lagoon than open water. Though be careful when you wade out towards the rocks, as there are sea urchins on the sea floor, and you are advised not to enter the water at night due to the jelly fish present at that time. If you want to swim in deeper water, then you will need to turn right and walk for a while until you are past the line of rocks. Book your tours though Paul at reception, including a great private day tour that we did with his driver, Kitty. I think we got to see just about everything on the island, with the highlight being the Big Buddha temple and the elephant sanctuary ('I Love Elephant Samui'). We also took an excursion to Pig Island (Koh Madsum) with snorkelling. As you can imagine, it is very commercialized and the pigs were mostly on the island being washed down and being fed there (not in the sea). The highlight of the tour was the wonderful Thai buffet. I would definitely return to the Muang Samui SPA Resort but maybe outside the European/Eastern Mediterranean summer holiday season. Thank you again to all the staff at the hotel -- khawp khun maak khrap -- you really made the holiday!!

I booked the Muang Samui Spa Resort for a 2 week family vacation to celebrate my 50th!….and all I can say is…fantastic…don’t hesitate to book here if you are thinking about it. If you want an authentic looking Thai resort rather than ‘just another hotel room’ then this is it. The rooms are very large and traditional in every way. Great bathrooms, and we booked the room with the larger balcony with jacuzzi, which was just amazing to be sat outside at the end of the day having a beer while chillin in the jacuzzi. The breakfast was plentiful and varied and more than enough for a family of 5! And the staff were incredible…nothing was a problem, and every one of them looked after myself, family and friends (8 of us in total) exceptionally. Every day we came to breakfast, they had reserved a large table for us in prime position, without us asking, on the edge of the beach. We had 2 birthdays during our stay and on both occasions they had left flowers on the table and all the staff came to sing us happy birthday with a cake! The evening bar and restaurant staff were great fun and again very attentive… I cannot tell you how much the staff there made our holiday go with a bang!….all I can say is ‘Thank You!!’ I have seen some negative reviews regarding the sea outside the hotel. Firstly, this clearly has nothing to do with the hotel, and secondly it is not much different elsewhere so don’t be put off by this! Yes when the tide is out it is knee high, but it is still deep enough to sit and relax in looking back at this stunning hotel!….just beware of the sea urchins further out!….oh and the sea is HOT…beautiful. Location is perfect…the hotel beach with its plentiful loungers feels almost like a secluded island as you are on a small peninsula, but a short walk either side takes you to wider less private beachfronts. It is also just far enough at the top of Chaweng so you cannot here anything, yet is only a 5 min walk into the the madness of Chaweng beach. Basically if you are thinking about it…don’t think…book it! I will certainly be coming back to stay again. Thank you to all the team at Muang Samui Spa Resort….you made our holiday.

Like many travellers have stated, this is a beautiful traditional Thai hotel set within a jungle of palms and plants and directly on to the stunning beach in Chaweng. We got an absolute bargain for a 2 week stay here via a BA package, and given what we paid, we felt we got amazing value for money. Having said that, if we had paid true 5 star money and expected 5 star, as advertised, we would have been disappointed! The room - we were upgraded to a pool view and we really enjoyed the decor and spaciousness of the room. The room is showing signs of wear and tear, in particular, the laminate flooring has started to come up, particularly in the bathroom, and is quite sharp in some places - making the complimentary slippers necessary! I did inform reception of this on check out, as this is an accident waiting to happen. We did have one evening in which our room had a leak and had to spend the night in another room. This room had hard wood floors and was in better condition. It was also OK a second floor, meaning it had more natural light which we would have preferred. Maintenance seems to be needed in other areas of the hotel too - the restaurant and pool bar looks tired, lots of broken umbrellas and the deck boards around the pool entrance needs refurbishment. The breakfast was substantial, eggs however you like, fresh fruit, yoghurt, pancakes, waffles, toast, pastries, salads and Thai food. Having stayed in other 5 stars across Asia, I do feel that is wasn't on par and would again have been disappointed had we have paid more! Likewise, the food at the restaurant was also disappointing. The pizzas and club sandwich for lunch was nice enough, but the one night we had dinner on the beach and the food was the worst we had all holiday. There are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, or a short taxi ride away, and I would definitely recommend you check what's highly rated on TA so that you don't miss out. Service - this is a tricky one, because when served, everyone was so friendly and warm, however there did seem to be a lack of attentiveness and small things would frustrate you after a while. For example, some mornings you would be offered tea or coffee fairly quickly, other mornings we would be waiting up to 10 minutes whilst staff were chatting or standing around. Staff would take your plate away, although wouldn't offer more cutlery (which would be annoying when you would go for your second course and realise you've got nothing to eat it with). Again, throughout the day, once you caught someone's attention or went to the bar, service was friendly, although to be true 5 star, more attentive service is needed and for staff to be walking around the sun loungers and asking customers if they would like a drink/food. Drinks and food are really reasonably priced, particularly the 3 hour Happy Hour, 3-6pm offering 2 for 1 cocktails, making them around £2 a cocktail! They were generally very nice too! The spa was also fantastic. I had 4 massages in total, one of which was with my husband, making the most of the promotional 1 hour for 600 baht (around £12/£13 - bargain)!! Both therapists were fantastic. I have a very bad back from a car accident and the techniques they used gave me relief beyond any massages I've ever had at home! Thoroughly recommend! Despite all the niggles mentioned above, we had a lovely time at Muang Samui. It was well located, we enjoyed walks along the beach every day and the setting of the hotel, in it's oasis of plants makes it a truly relaxing experience. If you can get a good price don't hesitate to book, just make sure you take plenty of mosquito spray!

We have just returned from Koh Samui and staying 5 nights in the Muang Samui. This is a traditional Thai style hotel and was a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng Beach. We were lucky to get upgraded to a pool view room which was lovely. The pool bar is fab especially in the evening, the food was tasty and reasonable with a varied menu and the staff are amazing so friendly and happy, nothing was too much trouble! I was a little worried at first there didn’t seem to be many sunloungers however with people going on trips for the day the pool/beach was never full. I recommend this hotel for Chaweng beach the friendly staff on the front desk to the friendly smiling cleaners made it lovely atmosphere to stay there. We also booked a trip through the travel agent on the front desk which was cheaper than what we had been quoted on the street so was good to know we were not getting ripped off. On here a lot of people complain about the shallow sea in front however I find this perfect as when the children using paddle boards and kayaks I wasn’t worried about them being swept out to sea also meant they couldn’t go out of their depth so made it feel safer.

The hotel got a unique ambiance of their own despite being located on the hustle side of the city. The location was great as you can easily find everything you need with a lot of options. Going back to the hotel, the structure looks like it was outdated but that's not the case because it was really built that way to preserve the Thai Style of the buildings which I find amazing as we are now used to live in a modern structures. Its just that, they need to improve some parts of the facilities that was a bit neglected though. Too bad, the beach was in a low tide season. The good thing is that they offer a free transfer to their sister hotel in Choengmon area back and forth, and could use their facilities over there as well. The staffs are quite amazing...that's a big thumbs up for them. Shout out to Mr. Tao. Hope to be back again.
