Situated in the heart of Chaweng, Chaweng Regent Beach Resort is heralded for its prime location, offering a tranquil and romantic atmosphere amidst lush landscapes, despite occasional night-time rowdiness. Guests commend the resort's cleanliness and well-kept facilities, while the rooms are generally liked for their size and design, though some inconsistency in housekeeping has been mentioned. Service is largely applauded for its professionalism, though not without a few hiccups in consistency. While the amenities, including gardens, pools, and beach access, are widely praised, concerns about value and additional costs are noted by some guests.

This resort deserves WELL over 5 stars!! My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and Chaweng Regent Beach Resort delivered an amazing and romantic experience. Tucked away in an ideal location, you are close enough to the hustle and bustle, food, nightlife and shopping that you can take a short walk, yet once you walk through the entrance the location is peaceful and feels like a remote, romantic get away.

The resort itself is peaceful, absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly romantic. And for the adventurous, there are tucked away treasures and private spots scattered throughout. The lanscaping is luscious and tropical, and the bungalows are luxurious and private. Ours had a private entrance and small fenced in yard, with a semi-outdoors hotub.

The beach right in front of the property is so gorgeous and pristine it did not even feel real, nor did pictures do it justice! We walked up and down the beach, and the section in front of this hotel had the cleanest crystal clear waters and sand. Further down sometimes there was more seaweed and grasses, but this area was perfect.

The staff and service were incredible! Staff were kind, and surprised us wih a few extra niceties for our honeymoon (if you go for your honeymoon, mention it in the notes when you book your stay and when you arrive!). We were a little hesistant to honeymoon at a property that was not adults-only, but it was never problem! It seems there are more kid friendly areas and that is typically where they stayed.

We are not lounge-by-the-pool vacationers, so I can not speak on that much, except to say that there are two big pools. One is located right off of restaurant and seemed to be where families congragated and people liked to sunbathe and hangout more. The other seemed a little bit more private and was more of an adult friendly area. The view from the central pool is of the prisitine beach.

The prices are very reasonable, the food is great, and I believe you get great value and access to beautiful amentities for the price. Extras like the beachfront candlelit dinner, massage packages, and meals were all of great quality, were priced very well- not too high or too low- and were well worth what we paid.

We did walk around and look at some of the other hotels we had considered, and were SO glad that we went with this one. Staying further down the street would have also meant being right behind all the clubs and bars. Chaweng Beach is a geat area if you want variety, but if you are looking for quiet in the evenings, you want to be further down. This property let us be within walking distance when we wanted to go out, and then have peace and tranquility away from it all when we didn't.

The room was comfortable and romantic with relaxing Thai design elements and lot's of natural light, and the location is both tranquil and convenient. The staff is amazing and kind, and Aui in particular showed us the most amazing hospitality. Just ask, and they will give you ALL the tips, help you get a cab or other tansporation, give you recommendations, etc. I recommend them to EVERYONE traveling to Koh Samui. Our stay here could not have been more perfect, I would give 10 stars if I could!

We stayed at this resort for our honeymoon and it was just heaven. From the minute we arrived, we felt transported to paradise!

The resort is absolutely stunning, and the location is breathtaking, with direct beach access and 2 amazing swimming pools; The beachfront swimming pool with breathtaking views of the ocean was absolutely stunning and is the ideal place for relaxing and sunbathing. The garden pool was beautiful as well; it felt like swimming right in the centre of a breezy jungle.

The resorts amenities were beyond our expectations. We visited the spa for a treatment and they were amazing. My husband enjoyed training in their well equipped fitness center and the resort offers daily activities like Pilates, Yoga, Aqua Aerobic ,Tai chi, Paddle board, Muay Thai (my husband loved it) and many others!

The rooms are beautifully designed, with every amenity you could wish for to make your stay comfortable and indulgent.

Everything was perfect from check in to check out and nothing (but nothing) was too much trouble. The service from everyone and I mean everyone was so friendly, professional, and nice; every time we passed a member of staff, they smiled and greeted us - we have never felt so welcome before, and we wish to say a special thanks to Boom and May for their kindness and their attention to details in order to reach perfection in the customer experience.

We will definitely come back next year!

From the online photos , the Chaweng Regent Beach Resort looked great , but once you are at the resort, there are definitely some issues.
The resort grounds are lush and beautiful , but the rooms definitely needs to be updated as everything is falling apart and old. There is only one free outlet in the entire room to plug in your phone.
We stayed in one of the villa's - we loved that you have your own private little house, but the bathroom is old and the cabinets are falling apart with some mold around the sink. The mirror frame was broken and chipped.
All the curtains did not close completely, so if you are looking to sleep in after 6am, you need to bring your eye mask. We used the coat hangers to clamp the curtain closed. The sheer curtains also did not closed 100% so if you are taking a bath or in the bathroom anyone sitting in the bedroom can see everything you are doing - no privacy at all , so if you are an exhibitionist this would be perfect for you.
There are 2 swimming pools, one beach front, but the kids pool is also located there.
The second pool is slightly quieter, but if you are looking to get some sun, go to another resort. They planted beautiful trees and plants around the pool, but it cast huge shadows on the sun beds , so you never get full sun.
We had some issues with communicating with the staff. we left our "Do Not Disturb " sign on, but the house keeping totally ignored it and came in anyway to clean our room.. We also had issues with trying to get into the villa after dark as it was pitch black outside and impossible to find the key hole. We went to the front desk to ask for help to light up the outside, and they ended up sending 2 different people. The first person did not have a clue and just left us hanging , so I went back to the front desk again and they sent a second person who finally found the light switch for the outside, but you needed to get into the room first to turn on the light. and once you leave the room all the lights turns off until you add your key card into the wall- not ideal.
The entire stay was OK, but it could have been much better if they updated the resort and paid more attention to customer service.
The located is great as it close to the night life , shops , restaurants and bars, but it is also very close to the airport, so if you are a light sleeper, choose another area as the first plane takes off around 7am until 10pm at night.

Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Arrived at around 8pm to be told that the main pool ‘on the beach’ was closed for renovation so there was only the garden pool available. Obviously the rest of the hotel went there so it was very busy and hard to get a sunbed. It was also all pretty much in the shade. Nobody told us about this prior to our arrival, obviously we would have cancelled the booking if we had known! We were offered free lunch everyday as ‘compensation’ however it was that busy we couldn’t even get a table, so had to go elsewhere.

Went to our room and was told that we had been upgraded (we hadn’t, we just got the room we had booked and paid for).

First night we realised that the patio sliding door was broken and did not lock so we had to get someone out at 11pm to fix it.

We complained that night and asked if we could move and get a better room as we were not happy. We were told we could move in 2 days time but would have to pay £40 each per night. Eventually they agreed and let us move rooms.

Couldn’t relax on the beach or round the pool due to all the construction work going on. Banging, drilling noises all day long.

If you want to have a good nights sleep don’t bother coming here as all you hear all night is music booming from the nightlife, and I’m talking till 4/5am every single night.

Lobby staff are all quite rude and look you up and down all the time.

Had a great stay at this traditionally styled hotel. Greeted with cold flannels and drinks on arrival. The hotel has beautiful established gardens, low rise and set right on the beach. The seaview at breakfast and from the bar is gorgeous. The premier room was large with massive bathroom with jacuzzi style bath. The room was traditionally styled and I don’t think it was one of the refurbished rooms. The room was really nice & clean. The price we paid for this hotel we considered fantastic value for money.

Always got a sunbed on the beautiful beach as tend to be early risers. The fantastic location is right on the strip but quiet for sleeping in the evening. We didn’t find Chaweng area too busy.

We found all the staff friendly and really helpful. My family used the spa and had a fabulous experience. We ate lunch at the restaurant and found every dish delicious and good value for money. The only minor point was following room cleaning, the towels were never replenished correctly, we left towels on the floor as required to be replaced.

Would definitely return as found the beach beautiful and fantastic location in Chaweng.

This Ressort has seriously been hit by Thai beach erosion.
Approximately 1m sand height is missing, which makes the beach practically inexistent.

In consequence sun beds at the two pools are overcommitted and there’s a daily race to pre-occupy most of them. At the main pool, with the lack of distance between sun beds, you get quite in touch (physically spoken) with other guests, wanted or not.

Looking at the original facilities (some in beetween taken out of service) the targeted category may have been upper class with a good touch of wellness (there even were saunas at the beginning).

Probably due to the vicious circle of disappearing beach and the consequent “people concentration” the Ressort seems to have changed the targeted customer base towards more economy and partying oriented categories.
Chaweng Road in front is a quite populated Party strip.
Some of the customers even show manners you’d never think possible. The leftovers on some tables at the breakfast buffet tell sad stories.
Maybe this is a reason why we had to make a high deposit (first time ever) for possible consumption on a totally prepaid trip.

The facilities and rooms needing a high level of upkeep (and cleaning which sometimes is a little bit neglected) are probably difficult to maintain with the number of staff present.
Also, the staff does not actually enforce the hotel’s house rules which sometimes leads to very noisy or agitated situations.

The staff itself is very kind and as helpful as possible, but mostly overcommitted too.

I’ve put some pictures from the actual beachfront situation (mid tide) to document the beach erosion situation. Check them against the official ones from the homepage.

Dear 719georgb, As the General Manager of the resort I am disappointed to read in your review that you and your family did not had an enjoyable stay at our resort. Your feedback is extremely important to us and I can assure you that we will review all your comments to ensure that the situations you mentioned do not occur in the future to other guests staying with us. If ever you are back in Samui, we would be delighted to welcome you again to Chaweng Regent Beach Resort Resort, all our team would ensure to change your perception and I am confident we could provide a memorable stay with us. In regards to the "beach erosion", it is a yearly recurring phenomenon that for a couple of months the sand washes away, after which it will be re-deposited automatically. I remain at your entire disposal. Best regards, Simon Hoekstra General Manager Chaweng Regent Beach Resort

Total of three to four stars.

5 stars for the service and friendliness of the staff. Especially Yao, who realizes every conceivable wish. Thank you for that.

Three stars for the hotel complex and the cleanliness of the hotel. Everything is a bit old and it would need a renovation. The faucets on the sink and shower require intensive basic cleaning.

The location is perfect.

Two stars for the hotel's pricing policy and transparency of prices. I like to get quoted final prices and don't like it when the prices mentioned are surcharged 10% service fee and 7% taxes. This makes others fairer and more transparent.

Aging hotel in a very good location, but in urgent need of renovation.

Due to the legalization of cannabis, smoking weed was unfortunately also allowed in the hotel. The smell was unbearable. After complaining, we were assured that smoking weed and eating durian fruit would be banned in the hotel from May 6th, 2024. Unfortunately, our vacation was already over on May 4th and we still had to endure the smell. We couldn't understand why the consumption of cannabis was even allowed in a 4-5 star hotel.

All in all, you can say: the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The location of the hotel was great. To the front of the main road you were in the party mile, but you didn't notice anything from the rooms of the spacious hotel. The pools were clean, but unfortunately no attention was paid to whether guests were blocking the loungers with towels and t-shirts at 6:00 a.m. and only using them after many hours. The hotel did say that if the loungers were not used for 30 minutes, towels and personal belongings would be removed by the staff, but unfortunately this was not the case in practice.

There were 2 pools, one especially for families with children, this one was specially equipped with a non-swimmers' pool and lots of loungers. The 2nd pool was a few steps up and had a pool bar and spa area. Unfortunately, families with small children and babies came there more and more often and did not even supervise them properly. Once the children threw glass bottles into the pool. The pool had to be closed because the shards flew into the water. Other children of overwhelmed parents screamed and bothered the guests who were looking for peace and quiet. Unfortunately, the parents and the hotel staff did nothing.

Because the airport is very close, you were exposed to aircraft noise during the day, but that is not the hotel's fault. Thank God they don't fly at night. The first plane comes directly over the resort at around 6:30 a.m., but that easily replaces the alarm clock.

The breakfast is varied, so everyone will find something to suit their taste. The beach is ideal for non-swimmers or families with small children because of the offshore reef. At low tide you can easily walk several hundred meters in and the water will still only be up to your knees.

The most beautiful two weeks stay at this hotel. Perfect beach side location and in the centre of chaweng nothing is too far away.

Our room was a premier family room. Huge modern bathroom with whirlpool. Kept immaculately clean and free mini bar re stocked each day. Only bother was noisy Aircon but I sleep with earplugs and husband wasn't bothered. Could do with a bit more clothing storage in the family room, some extra baskets for clothes would be great.

No power cuts during our stay.

We couldn't hear any noise outside of the hotel. The planes do go over to the side of the hotel but the noise didn't bother us, it was only a couple of times a day and our girls loved seeing them. They don't start before 7am.

All the staff were amazing and like family towards the end of our holiday. They went above and beyond for a fantastic Halloween party as well as caring for our kids in kids club (Oli, Minnie and one other gentleman who has worked at the hotel group for over 7 year's I'm sorry I've forgotten your name)

The pool and bar staff were great and food fresh and tasty. We loved the BBQ corn & our daily watermelon or mango juice. Yao was amazing, ditt, watt to name a few)

Breakfast selection superb as were the egg station team members.

The pools itself are spotless and so clean and plenty of sun beds everyday we didn't have any troubles with that.

The beach is a tropical paradise with massage available on the beach for 350 which is around £10 for an hour with oil.

The sea is safe and perfect for families. The beach beautiful and hardly and rubbish. You can walk for miles on the white sand

Can't wait to return thank you for a great holiday ❤️

My husband and brother in law are big fitness enthusiasts, who said they would train everyday but only went once as we were having too much fun to go to gym! But they said the gym was great. The aircon is very effective, we were there when the heat felt like 45 degrees with the humidity levels at times. Thailand is very safe, the Thai nationals are some of the gentlest and most respectful characters I’ve come across around the globe. Koh samui as an island is extremely safe, we basically strolled the streets in a bikini top and shorts as it was so hot in May - as a woman coming from South Africa, I’ve never felt safer.
