We enjoyed our stay at the resort with our 3 young children 8, 5 and 2 years old and this review is more of a family one. We had read some negative reviews before arriving and I was a little concerned about a few issues but everything was fine for us apart from a couple of points I will go into later, first are the many positives. The reception staff upon arrival were friendly and courteous. I had requested a specific room which we were indeed given and was very nice and clean even though it was not one of the newly renovated rooms (Royal Suite no 304). The day beds were converted into beds for 2 of our children and they were very comfortable. I had also asked prior to arrival if they had a potty since my youngest had only been out of nappies a short while - they said they didn't have one but now would be a good time to purchase one which they did and was waiting in our room for us as well as a child seat to fit on the toilet. We were very pleased and impressed. I must also say that the cot is of a very high standard, one of the best I have been given in any hotel. It is not a travel cot, but a lovely big deep wooden one with good mattress, bumpers and a frilly duvet and bumpers with embroidery. Our 2 year old was very happy with it. The grounds are wonderful to walk around and are looked after very well. There are fish ponds filled with koi carp with buckets of fish food you can feed them with. The staff you meet around the grounds are courteous - gardeners, security guards, housekeeping. Whenever we had a request it was met swiftly and we never had to wait long even though the resort was busy - we needed extra hangers, the toilet unblocking one day, some smashed glass in the room cleaned and the staff always came very quickly. The breakfast was excellent with a live pancake station and egg station in addition to many other choices you had and the children also loved the variety to choose from. I would say they need some non dairy milk (almond/soy). I did ask one morning which caused some confusion and they brought me some non dairy milk which was actually cows milk! It was fine managing without the milk with all the other choices available though! The pools are great, definitely a bit tired in places but that didn't seem to be a problem for us and it was great having the choice of two and the beach also right there. The place is like a little oasis, the front of the hotel is very noisy and busy but surrounded with everything you could need, pharmacy, laundry, 7/11, shops, massage, bars and restaurants. Then the back of the hotel is on the beach and you could step out of our room right onto the sand which was lovely. The beach right in front of hotel is ok, it is more of a lagoon as there is a large manmade rock formation surrounding it, not sure why but must be for a good reason. You can see the rocks which spoils the view somewhat and when the tide is out its not very pretty at all. You can walk 5 mins further down Chaweng Beach to where it is deeper and more suitable for swimming but that part of the beach is also very busy with several loud bars blasting out music from huge sound systems. That takes me to my main negative point... From the Royal Suites you can hear loud music most nights. Some nights were worse than others and the thud thud thud boom boom boom of music until 1/2/3/4 am sometimes was a bit much. I MUST point out though that we had friends in the resort in premier rooms and grand family premier rooms and they could NOT hear it. It seems to be the Royal Suites right on the beach only. Luckily with the A/C on full blast it drowned out the sound somewhat but for us and next time we will sadly not stay on the beach side. Maybe when they renovate the royal suites (soon I think) they will soundproof them with better windows and doors and that might help. Were thought it outrageous some nights that the bars on the beach are allowed to play such music. The resort were very sympathetic and offered to move us to a different room but we loved our room and view and couldn't bare to pack everything up again and move. Again we spoke to 3 other families who were further in to the grounds and couldn't hear the music. You are allowed to use their sister hotel the 5* Melati and we went there twice with our own driver who used the same mini bus vehicle as the hotel but was half the price! The Melati beach and pool are lovely and would highly recommend a visit for a break away from the lively Chaweng.

Dear misssuzieh, Thank you for sharing your detailed review and for your rating. Nothing new to me as we had the opportunity to chat over emails prior to your arrival, which allowed us to be able to fulfill your expectations, and to meet and chat again during your stay. A big thank you in the name of the many readers of your review, who will get to know how much you and your family enjoyed a comfortable, pleasant visit at our resort. While our central location is excellent for exploring the town, I am saddened that you were inconvenienced by the music originating from resorts that are not even in close proximity. I had the opportunity to discuss the matter with your husband: I shall bring along his recommendations for improved sound-proofing when meeting with the designer who will work on the renovation of the Royal Suites. In the meantime, I have already brought the matter of the noise to the officials of the municipality, who assured me that they took good note of it. We would love to see you all 5 again soon! Please contact me again when you plan to return. With warmest regards, Bertrand Margerie / Group General Manager

Stayed at this resort in Aug 2019 for 5 nights in a ‘deluxe’ room. Bed was huge and comfortable, bathroom clean and had a balcony. Overall the resort is good and has its perks but I don’t think I’d return. It is located in the heart of Chaweng Road which is the main shopping/ dining/ partying precinct. If this is your cup of tea go for it, we found we only noticed the late night party noise on the weekend, otherwise it was ok. The pools are lovely, although not the most beautiful I’ve seen. The beach is probably the best feature. Stunning clear water and white sand, the area is enclosed in a ‘marina’ so safe for kids to swim. The resort has 2 restaurants/ bars but there are plenty of options from high end to cheap street eats within a 5min walk. I wouldn’t recommend this resort for families with children who utilise a pram or those in a wheelchair as there is limited ramp access and quite a lot of stairs (especially around the pool areas and to the rooms). I couldn’t fault the staff or the service but I was expecting a bit more of a luxurious, peace and quiet resort and think there is better options for the price you pay. I will say the location is a big plus and after touring the island I can safely say I would recommend staying in Chaweng Beach area if you are into markets, spa’s, shopping and not wanting to worry about taxis etc.

Dear peggysue96, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your kind review. We are so glad that you enjoyed our convenient location, accommodating staff, and beautiful Chaweng beach. May I invite you to look at the website of our sister hotel, the 5-star Melati Beach Resort & Spa? It is located in the north-eastern tip of the island, and enjoys a secluded location that makes its small bay nearly private to its guests. This might be a destination more suitable to visitors whose expectations are not so much on "shopping / dining / partying". We hope you return and enjoy another holiday in either of our tropical paradises! With warmest regards, Bertrand Margerie / Group General Manager

We stayed in Chaweng Regent for 3 nights in August 2019. We booked a Deluxe and was very happy that the room was also poolside. Hotel was fantastic and if I could reserve that room type again I will be returning. Breakfast was also great and staff friendly. Thank you

A few days into our holiday I feel I should alert people coming to this hotel what they should expect ..... and it’s definitely not a peaceful, relaxing stay! First, though, the good points. The staff are wonderfully friendly and the grounds are lovely and peaceful, you really wouldn’t know you’re a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng’s Beach Road. Location-wise, if you’re looking for a wide array of lively bars and restaurants, this is the place for you. I would suggest it’s not really for the more mature traveller though! Breakfast is fine, there’s a good selection although it is disappointing that there’s no fresh juice .... I’m guessing it’s all powdered stuff. However ..... you’ll hear the thudding music at night from the place next door. We don’t find it too bad as the sound of air con pretty much drowns it out. You’ll also hear planes taking off and landing, they go right over the hotel, but it’s bearable as the airport isn’t exactly London Heathrow! The biggest downside of all that you should be aware of is the lack of pool etiquette by most of the parents and their children. There are loads of children here and they all think it’s OK to dive bomb into the pool, even if it’s right next to you. I got kicked in the head yesterday and didn’t get an apology. They also bring their inflatables into the pool and basically trample over anyone in the pool with them. Several times, the pool’s been so full of inflatables that there hasn’t been room for other people to get in. And the noise. Oh my god, the noise. Neither pool area is very big so everyone’s on top of one another, so to have children screaming and shouting, right next to you, hour after hour, is awful and actually quite stressful. We got up and left the beach front pool and went to the garden pool, but that was almost as bad. There are signs around the pool asking people not to be noisy, not to dive in, and to be considerate of others but these are blatantly ignored, and none of the staff does anything to enforce the rules (hence the low service rating). They really should make one of the pools adults only and the other one for children and their families. The current situation really isn’t fair on us and the other couples who are being subjected to what is essentially loutish behaviour. If they sorted the pools out this would be a really lovely place, however as it is we can’t wait to leave!

Dear nicsuffolk, Thank you for your review. Sorry to read that "the lack of pool etiquette" did affect your stay to such an extent. As you could notice, Chaweng Regent Beach Resort caters for solo travelers as well as families and couples, and it can prove sometimes difficult a cohabitation. It is disappointing though to read that the resort associates are not talking to the guests infringing the rules and are not enforcing these rules. I am very apologetic for this lack of professionalism. We will turn by the end of the month the Garden Pool into an adult only pool, in the hope that each and every one will be able to get the best of their stay at our resort. Best regards Bertrand Margerie / Group General Manager
