Amari is one of the best hotels we have visited in Thailand. 🥰 Our two-year-old daughter was delighted with the playground and the Kids Club.👶🤤Lots of toys, computers to play, extra activities. Everything is new, fragrant, well-kept. Daily room cleaning. Two beautiful swimming pools with separate areas for children and a jacuzzi. ❤️ One by the beach and the other in the garden. Clear water, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, beach bag available in the room. The cottages are large and cozy, very comfortable beds, also a baby cot. View from the terrace to the swimming pool. Beautiful vegetation around, lots of trees and flowers. 🌴💚 You can organize a romantic dinner by the beach or a pizza making class for a child. Breakfast is at the Amaya restaurant, where the choice is huge. Different dishes every day, you can make your own fresh fruit juice. Thai, Indian, European cuisine. Kids menu and high chairs. The service is very nice and helpful.🥰 There is a coworking space, fitness club, spa breeze where they do great massages. A place worth recommending, especially for families with children. We will gladly come back!🫶…
Solo female traveler, I returned here 3 times in one year. The rooms at the back (not beach side) are lovely, spacious and clean. There is a pool there too. But the front (beach side) this is where this hotel excels. They have super comfy sofas right over looking the beach, lovely pool area there too. It gets the sun all day and you can pop up an umbrella for shade. It is not a great part of Chaweng Beach for swimming, but it is possible. Beware that the hotel next door can host seasonal events and the noise from that is awful - so just ask when booking. Excellent service and breakfast. Nice dinners too. This is the classy part of Chaweng!! Excellent happy hour in this hotel and in Sala right next door on the beach. In all, highly recommend it for families to solo travelers. My favorite room was upgrading to pool side suite and waking up to the stunning beach views.…
Our family stayed at the Amari for eight nights in the Two Bedroom Family Suite Pool View. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and left feeling relaxed. Our kids didn't want to leave. Our room was very comfortable, new and immaculate. The hotel grounds and the two pool areas are stunning and extremely well-maintained. The staff were warm and friendly. The food at the Amaya restaurant next to the main pool was 6/10, so we ate down the beach, where there are many inexpensive options, or at the restaurant at the Sala next door. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection and was well organised. The hotel is great for kids and is located a short walk from the busiest area of Chaweng; hence, a little quieter. There is an Italian restaurant called Prego attached to the hotel, too. The food here was lovely. We had booked and pre-paid for this holiday in early 2019 for December 2020 but could not travel because of covid. The hotel kindly honoured our booking with credit and let us upgrade to a larger room. …
This being my first time back to Koh Samui since Covid restricted travel I was unsure how much the tourism industry might have been impacted. However, despite it being quieter than in the past it was still great to be back. I stayed at the Amari Koh Samui and I cannot fault the hotel. A great location - quiet but within easy walking distance to the Hussle and bustle. Great pools and access to beach - lots of loungers - it was not an issue to secure one. I stayed on the Garden Wing across the road from main reception - although you had to cross a road to get to main part of hotel, the crossing was always manned by the security staff enabling people to cross safely. The room was very spacious (pool view) and very relaxing to sit on the balcony in the evenings. Breakfast had lots of choice and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Had dinner and drinks in Prego's on two occasions and would recommend. The staff there, in particular Nok and Karen were very welcoming. Definitely recommend a stay at the Amari Koh Samui - staff and location are great. …
I want to graciously thank you for a week we will not quickly forget. Staying at the Amari Koh Samui was a sublime experience. The service was exemplary, the buffet breakfast delicious and laid out as though from the eye of an artist, and the surroundings pristine and cared for in what seemed an act of love. Thank you all. But the force which seemed to be the organizing principle for the whole operation was your acting manager, Wee (Taweewat Rukton). Wee was friendly and personal to a fault. With us, he was seemingly always available to share information and to chat. Yet, I observed him extend the same care and assistance to countless other guests, walking them around the grounds, orienting them to the Amari experience. He seemed eager to accept as his personal contribution to all guests, their well-being for the length of their stay. He seemed forever engaged with guests, yet always available, always welcoming. ….and he never took a day off! Each of the 5 ½ days we were your guests, Wee was present from early in the morning till late at night. The number of details for which he was responsible boggles the mind. The number of words he spoke in a single day, countless. The amount of energy he exerted, unfathomable. To be witness to the efforts of a manager who exhibits such guardianship over his domain and the guests who come to share it is to me inspiring. As a teacher of 30 years, one of my mantras was always “attention to detail always wins”. Wee exemplifies this wisdom. …
Not bad at all to be fair. Room was quite good although it is showing signs of wear, especially in the wooden floors which were completely covered by big scratches. Well kept garden areas. The main pool area gets crazy busy but luckily there is another pool on the other side of the road. Please bear in mind that most of the rooms are not in the beach side, but on the other side of the road. Great part of the beach in Chaweng….we have stayed in the Sala Samui next door (which is nicer but more expensive) and The Library which is slightly further up the beach (nice but needs more maintenance)….. I’d stay again but would probably go for a room on the beach side.
The hotel doesn't have enough facilities to provide for their gusts such as a sun bed . Unclean. loud no service . Slow at breakfast . But very loud staff spoke to each other over customers, while they are trying to relax. There are no garden views . Just gravel roads.
Great hotel in a good location. The food was excellent and well priced, but the drinks were very expensive outside of happy hours. The beach is very nice but the usage of the sun beds by many guests was bad. The beds were often reserved for hours with no one on them and the hotel were reluctant to tackle this issue. Prego's Italian restaurant was excellent, as was the food at The Amaya.
Beautiful hotel! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay marvelous. We were very, very sad to leave. Buffet breakfast included every day. Many room service options. There is a buggy service available to pick you up from your room if you don’t feel like walking. As mentioned in other rooms, there can be a ground floor, and 1st + 2nd floors with no elevators. Didn’t bother my partner and I but something for others to consider.
We stayed for 8 nights in a Superior Garden Wing room. The Amari were waiting for us after we arrived at the airport, as part of the transfer we requested. Check-in was seamless and the staff very friendly. Our room requests were met, which was very good of them. ROOMS: The hotel has 2 sections for accommodation. Beach side and the Garden Wing (being across the road from the beach). Both areas have pools. It’s not far to walk from the Garden Wing to the beach, and a security guard is always there to stop traffic for you to cross the road. Our rooms were spacious, clean, light (thanks to the nice balcony) and were well equipped. The bathroom was modern and it was a really good size, with a large shower and separate bath, with ample room to move around in. The bed was comfortable, good pillows and typical firm base. Decent storage, cable tv and a good number of power points. It was great that they had a mirror outside of the bathroom, with a nearby power point, for those of us that use a hair dryer / straightener. LOCATION: Located in Chaweng Beach, it was a 10 – 15 minute walk to Central Samui shopping mall. Massage shops were close by, as were restaurants. Being on the beach, the hotel had a lovely aspect. There’s a money changer right out the front, with the same rate as most changers in the area (best exchange rate could be found at a money changer on the outside of Central Samui – 2 shops down from The Kitchen restaurant). A pharmacy and convenience store are also close by for drinks and snacks. In my opinion, the location was perfect as it was a flat walk to central Samui and not far away, but not in the middle of the busy centre. BEACH: The hotel has sun loungers on the beach with access to the sea. The water is beautiful here. I read a review where a guest mentioned the beach had rubbish there. The hotel does a good job at keeping their beach section clean (we saw the garden crew raking up seaweed immediately after it was deposited on the beach). As the region (and world is still recovering from COVID lockdowns), there are sections on the beach where there is rubbish. You can’t expect the Amari to clean the entire beach, but they did a great job on their section of the beach. The water is a beautiful green and we found the sea to be nice and calm for swimming in general. SHOPPING: If you’re interested in shopping, the main area in Chaweng has shops. The area is definitely recovering and not back to what it was pre-COVID. Some market areas have gone, and the shopping overall was quite limited, compared to Bangkok (even Bangkok is not what it used to be with shopping). There is a market behind Central Samui shopping centre, which is quite good, but you want to go there on days when Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village Market is NOT on, as many of the sellers are at both markets, but can only be at one place on a given day. The Fisherman’s Village Market is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, and on the days when it is on, taxis line up out the front of the hotel ready to take Amari guests (400 baht one way, for about a 15 / 20 minute ride). STAFF: We found the staff to be super friendly, helpful and a delight in general. They were always smiling, polite and on hand to answer any questions. A thank you to all of them. Wee, Jinny and May stood out as being especially friendly, as did a man in a blue shirt in the morning breakfast shift who was constantly smiling and helping guests (sorry, never got to know his name). The garden crew did a great job every day and our housekeeping lady was so lovely. POOLS: Two good sized pools, one beach side and one garden side. Plenty of sun loungers. Great that we didn’t notice guests reserving the loungers with their towels. Pools were cleaned every night. The garden pool was used a few times by a dive school, but this didn’t really interfere with our usage. If you want access to food and drinks by the pool, the beach pool would be better for you. The garden pool was quieter, and had limited food and beverage service, but that was fine by me. RESTAURANTS: The hotel’s breakfast was great. Plenty of food to choose from, as well as food for all cultures. The mango juice was a hit, as was the juicing station (watermelon juice was delightful). We had dinner on a few nights and a couple of lunches, and the food was very good. Drinks with the meals were a little pricey, but most hotels are the same here. We ate at the hotel’s Prego restaurant a couple of times, and the food was delicious (I am fussy with Italian food, due to my Italian heritage). Afternoon tea at Amaya Café was a nice treat too. HOTEL IMPROVEMENTS: Overall, the hotel was well run, facilities were clean, fresh and tasteful. We loved the Thai charm of the hotel and the management and staff deserve credit for doing such a good job. We came as part of a Luxury Escapes package and the vouchers we received were plentiful and a really good deal. We had a couple of maintenance issues, which were fixed. Wi-Fi was a bit of an issue in one of the rooms, as was the water in the shower. Our room’s shower temperature was ok, but our kid’s room was scolding hot and they found the water temperature would go up and down, at times almost burning them. It would be ideal if this could be checked and fixed for future guests. Overall, the Amari Samui was a brilliant hotel and we will definitely stay here if we come back to Koh Samui. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone. We enjoyed our stay here, in the pleasant rooms and gardens, lovely food and staff, on a lovely beach in magical Thailand. Thank you Amari for a wonderful stay.…
