Only 5 miles from the Koh Samui Airport, you can find us on a quiet beachfront at the magnificent Chaweng Beach. The Fisherman's Village in Bophut, which comes to life every Friday evening as a bustling street market, and the Wat Plai Laem temple are both nearby. The pristine archipelago of Angthong National Marine Park, which has thick jungle, white-sand beaches, towering mountains, waterfalls, and lakes to explore, can be reached via day tours and boat charters.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

Amari Koh Samui garners praise for its inviting pools, extensive breakfast, and scenic beach, though some guests believe these amenities have room to grow. While the atmosphere is often described as relaxing, elements of disappointment are sometimes noted. Room opinions vary, with reports of both comfort and maintenance issues.
The service staff is generally acknowledged for their friendliness, but occasional lapses in attention occur. Despite the higher cost of on-site dining, the hotel's location is popular for its convenience and views. Cleanliness is commendable, with sporadic reminders needed.

For us, the most beautiful hotel on Chaweng Beach, the complex is very clean and well-kept in Thai style, divided by a road into the rear part of the complex. There is a great pool right in front of the beach and the food/breakfast/bar area, another beautiful one in the rear area of the hotel, surrounded by smaller pool villas and great plants. The hotel's section of the beach is always maintained and cleaned, which is unfortunately not a given in Thailand. The issue of garbage and the sea is really acute here and all the garbage that is washed up every day made us very sad and thoughtful. It was pleasing that it is removed from the hotel beach several times a day, but simply burying everything in a hole in the sand on the beach was really frightening and unthinkable for us.
The staff are very friendly and try hard without being intrusive. We would especially like to praise dear Fah, always friendly, cheerful and always with a kind word, she looked after us like a personal wellbeing manager, and the hard-working Noung, always attentive, he rushes around tirelessly, keeps things tidy and provides us with drinks, food, towels and loungers everywhere at the pool and beach.
There are 2x happy hour every day, where you get 2 for 1 of certain drinks and cocktails. Here too, the staff were very attentive and were happy to bring the first drink and deliver the second one later so that it didn't get warm and it was never forgotten. The breakfast is very extensive and there is something for all tastes, from coffee pieces to an egg station where you can have them prepared however you like, to hot dishes, a salad buffet and even Thai/Indian hot specialties. I would like to emphasize that the coffee and coffee specialties are also great.
Our room was very nice on the first floor of a bungalow with a view of the pool at the back, cleaned properly every day and with drinking water, tea/coffee station (instant) and kettle in the room as well as a small fridge in which you can cool your drinks, which you can get in the 7 Eleven in town. We stayed in this hotel for the second time, 5 years apart, and were as impressed as the first time.
In the town itself, it must be said that the Corona period has clearly left its mark, many shops, restaurants and hotels are closed, lying neglected or partially demolished, which was not a pretty sight. We were all the more pleased that the Amari was still so well maintained and in top condition.
We really enjoyed our vacation here.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this hotel! The location is simply perfect – right by the beautiful beach, offering stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere all day long. The rooms are spacious, bright, and incredibly comfortable, equipped with everything you could need. The pool area is a true paradise, clean and well-maintained, with plenty of space for all guests. The breakfast is a real treat, with a wide selection of fresh and delicious options to start the day off right. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back!

This is a really good hotel for families who wish to explore the island but relax by the pool area when not exploring. The bedroom was very good with a small balcony area which meant washing dried easily. The bathroom area was very good. Our room was not on the beach side of the road but there was a buggy service readily available and guards to show you across the road if you needed it. There are 2 pool areas, one on each side of the road. They both have fantastic areas for children to splash around in while the main pool areas are deep enough for adults to swim in. The beach is well maintained with security keeping watch and plenty of sun loungers. There is lots of shade if needed with trees and umbrellas. There is pool table and table tennis/ ping pong for those more active holidaymakers. The children’s club looked very good with a whole building and small, gated garden. Mr Wee, one of the managers was very friendly and helpful. The duo who sang in the bar twice a week were really good and very inclusive with the audience. The fire show was well worth watching too. The food was great with lots of choice and friendly service. If I had to recommend a hotel in Koi Samui for a family to stay in this would be it. It is in a good position to walk into the village with nice restaurants nearby to eat out in the evening. But, it is easy for adults to escape from children if they wish to.

Stayed here for 10 days after a week in the Amari Phuket, on comparison a few differences with Staff issues. First of all the Amari Chaweng- the good bits, location is good just a short walk to the busy town area, beach is OK sea water appears clearer around the corner, beach is daily cleaned of seaweed washed up on beach by next door hotel but not the Amari. Pools are good and clean, breakfast good amazing choice and polite helpful staff. Rooms spacious and comfy bed. Negative side-on arrival our Rep booked us in as we sat just in front of reception desk, no hello or welcome from staff, passport and credit card handed over by Rep and room key passed to us by rep. They forgot to give us back our passports and credit card, so I asked reception staff for them and they just plonked to the reception desk and walked of talking to each other and on there mobile phones, still no welcome. First night restless disturbed late night due to noisy neighbours above us, reported this to reception next day and they moved us later that day. New room-bathroom dirty, long strands of dark hair and old residue of used bath water left in the bath. Reported to reception no apology but stated will be cleaned immediately, we had to remind reception twice the NEXT day to finally get it resolved. Your daily walk past reception for breakfast, no good morning from reception staff unlike the Phuket Amari, if they were not seeing to a customer they would be just standing around talking to each other. WC broke twice in our room, not blocked just the push button. On check out, no enquiry did you enjoy your stay from reception staff just took our keys and of we went. All in all this place is very good, all the other staff were great welcoming and polite but not reception staff, the first people you meet and gave a very bad first impression of the Amari.

The hotel is situated in the quiet section directly on the beach of Chaweng Bay and is an extremely clean and well maintained complex. The ambience invites you to feel good and all employees contribute to it through kindness, helpfulness and attention. Swimming in the sea is limited at low tide, but by a short walk on the clean beach with fine sand, you can reach places that are excellent for swimming. We lived in the Grand Deluxe Suite Beach Wing, thus in the main part of the hotel, with sea views. Nice terrace with seating and table. Spacious room, attractively furnished, seating, good bed, minibar, kettle, espresso machine (capsules were refilled daily, as well as water bottles). Bathroom also spacious, with 2 sinks (unfortunately only 1 mirror above a sink). Shower gel, body lotion etc. available. The breakfast buffet is very good. A wide selection of hot and cold dishes, good bread, very good coffee, egg station, etc. You will always find something else to try. Very good cocktails, which are also served with the beach chairs. Amari Cafe offers excellent coffee and homemade cakes, chocolates and cookies. You have to try it. The Breeze Spa is also worth a visit. Résumé: a feel-good hotel that likes to invite you to come back.

The extras: free airport transfer; the location away from the noise but close enough to Chaweng to have the entertainment and amenities nearby; the setting of the hotel and its cleanliness; the 2 well-designed swimming pools with a paddling pool and space for everyone; the view of the beach; the professionalism of the staff and their friendliness; the very attentive and efficient manager; the SPA more expensive than the massages around the corner but a much better experience incomparable; the varied breakfast which will delight all tastes; the kids club is not great but the children (fairly independent - 6 and 9 years old for me) are safe, they can do paid activities or play for 2 hours and that leaves time to do a massage for example. The gym is small but efficient and air-conditioned.
The least: The room which is quite small for 4 people, with only one bathroom and one toilet. The equipment does not correspond to a 5-star hotel: no socket in the bathroom and no storage possible in the bathroom. Too little storage in the room. The price.
We took a car to get around the island easily and we do not regret the choice of this hotel after having seen others.

Quite a charming hotel with delightful staff situated on a beautiful beach. Breakfast plentiful and varied and rooms/ bathrooms large ( housekeeping a little bit and miss- I asked could they please sweep the floors because sand on floors was a problem. Replacement of tea/coffee and smaller towels was also inconsistent.) Seafood buffets were lovely with tables set up near pool and a good music duo. Lunches and dinners were excellent value however the drinks were expensive and the cocktails were really fruit juice with nothing much else. Wine servings are also fairly small. I was surprised that no staff attended the pool and beach areas for drinks orders. Unfortunately however there are not enough umbrellas or lounges around pool or on beach and it appears guests head down early “reserving” lounges all day with a towel and book, leaving no pool or beach enjoyment for others. This is not really dealt with by the staff so effectively we had to find two chairs up near reception to sit all day! A little disappointing. Overall this is mainly a holiday destination for families so perhaps not ideal for romantic couples. Overall very pleasant though and an easy walk to shops and restaurants.

The room and bathroom smell like sewage, sometimes nauseating.
Attempts have been made to clean the air with ozone equipment, but that does not help.
We were offered another cheaper room without further compensation. It doesn't work that way. Customers who choose a more expensive room when booking compensate with a cheaper one.
They also tried to bribe us by offering a meal for a few tens of euros. We then had to remove our reviews. We did not go into that.
Last Monday, now 4 days ago, the director, Ruud Hulscher, promised to discuss more appropriate compensation. We have heard nothing more about this.
In addition to the smelly room, one must keep in mind that everything that is forbidden is still allowed. For example, smoking is allowed in and around the swimming pools (the staff brings ashtrays instead of pointing out the prohibition signs) and, despite the ban, glassware is allowed in and around the swimming pool. The hotel even serves drinks in glasses and bottles around the pool. You don't want to think about glass shards getting into the pool. Very dangerous!

One of the worst (bad stay) ever in my life, I have almost travel every part of the world never seen such bad hospitality ever was here still morning 9 am with 2 small kids and elderly parents with medical conditions despite being a lot of requests , reception people are not helped me not provided our rooms. Though I am made early check-in, request already I said we have two room. Give me at least one room for my parents and kids can rest still they are not ready to listen and saying only one thing. We have only one housekeeping staff when he will do, we will let you know. I regret to book this type of property and this type of hospitality from such Group and five star property is not acceptable will never ever recommend to anyone. Not family resort. don’t waste your money.

We had a lovely stay at Amari Koh Samui in a two bedroom family suite in the beach wing. Fantastic service from all the staff. The room was great - a one bedroom apartment with a living area and an adjoining room which also meant having two bathrooms. We had a beautiful view down to the pool and beach. Food was amazing on site - great breakfast spread each morning. We dined onsite a few nights as it was just so easy (and delicious!). The Italian restaurant across the road was fantastic too with a great selection of food. Big fan of the cafe on site. Really enjoyed sitting with a coffee and watching people go by on the busy road outside. The staff knew our coffee order after a couple of days! There are two pools - one on the beach side and a second pool across the road at the other half of the resort. Both were good but I preferred the beach side pool for ordering food and drinks. Spa was great - a couple of massages booked in over the course of the week which were very relaxing. We had a choice of intensity and I opted for the lowest intensity for the relax factor. Only a short walk into the town area and probably about 15-20 min walk to Koh Samui Central shopping mall. Taxi's were about THB200 and hotel staff were great at helping to get a taxi when we needed one. It was my birthday while staying and my husband spoke to reception to ask for some help to celebrate the occasion and they were very helpful with arranging some lovely little surprises. Pear at the concierge desk was great at helping to select tours as well. Would definitely stay again if we return to Koh Samui.
