For the price, Chaweng Resort is the best in Chaweng beach north side.
My stay took place during a period of very low occupancy, so some hotel services were not working, such as beach facilities, or working with limitations such as the restaurant/bar.
As for the location, the hotel, both in terms of Beach road or the beach itself, for me it is the best one.
Certainly I would stay there once again if the prices were similar to what I paid this time...

We recently spent 8 nights in this resort - The staff were nice and the resort was in a great location near the south end of the beach - which is nicer than the north end. The pool is lovely and the breakfast was nice. All round this hotel was great value and we would choose it again. This resort also had a gym which was a bonus.

This is an old style property and it shows but that's not the problem with it believe it or not. It gives it charm as lots on the beach property's could come straight out of London/Sydney/LA all glass and boxy nothing to do with Thailand at all. The bungalows are dated with massive furniture made of wood, but they are big in size & the aircon, shower worked well. Large fridge is a massive bonus. The gardens surrounding the bungalows are a delight, the smell of Jasmin & Frangipani it's lovely. Even the pool outside the restaurant is nice & clean (there is another next to the rooms, but not as nice) It was very quiet when we stayed so getting a sun lounger wasn't a problem. All this & beachfront location deserves 4*s. The cost of £41 per night with breakfast is really cheap for Samui these days, I think they may be selling up as we saw surveyors there sizing up the land.
Unfortunately the service at the hotel drops it to a 3*, if you don't get your room serviced at dawn it didn't happen. Don't whatever you do pay extra for the breakfast it is pathetic. Tea is in a pot that they just keep adding water to, not tea bags so it is eventually just hot water, the egg guy doesn't replace any of the ingredients so if you come at 9:30 & all he has is onion that's all you get. There's toast & some very unappealing Thai food slopped in a tray. The banana was the best thing!! Plus at 9:59 they take everything away, so you can't get another cup of hot water!! I really don't know why they bother. I never ate the restaurant food as the breakfast was so terrible. The wifi is also pathetic you constantly have to add a separate voucher code to get it to work for 5mins & then you need another code. I get that we are on holiday & should "switch off" but the reality is in 2018, people expect good wifi, the foot massage place up the street was better than the hotels! Thailand is known for its good service and this hotel fails on that, but for the price you are not going to get beachfront, pool & loungers.
The hotel is located at the far end of the beach towards Lamai, so it's much quieter & about 20 min walk to the centre or busier beach bars. I would recommend this hotel for families as the pools are a bonus, the beach is quieter & safe. For couples it's a bit boring & there are kids jumping in and out of the pool all day.

We booked the self contained 1 bedroom villa with plunge pool & jacuzzi / spa / “COLD” tub. Really an open plan bungalow with separate kitchen and bathroom.
Yes it was private, but in desperate need of some TLC. Spa not working on arrival and no hot water in shower and kitchen sink this took two attempts to remedy by day three fixed! Kitchen stove, microwave bench top not very clean. Just old and poorly maintained.
Overall the resort was in very poor condition pathways broken/uneven and somewhat dangerous. Restaurant open for breakfast then till 6pm. If breakfast was anything to go by eat somewhere else.
Breakfast might be included but the options are quite poor. Pool area again requires an overhaul.
On the upside which was a rarity, maintenance staff, housekeeping and hospitality staff were friendly amusing and helpful not so much the reception staff.
Good location close to 50 odd restaurants within easy walking distance. 7-11s nearby.
Roads and footpaths in the area are generally in very poor condition.
This was once probably a grand dame of a resort but it appears it is an old lady and has just been left to wither and die!

Hotel was closed and barricaded. Booked in January for 6 days start Feb 22 through Agoda. No advice from them or hotel that they closed down for a month. It is peak season and we have to pay triple price when we finally found a vacancy. Traumatised.

Everyone, please heed my words.
You will waste good hard earned money if you decide to stay at this third world broken down hovel. Read the other comments from those who also had bad experiences. They are all true.

In a nutshell
Room poorly cleaned. Windows were dirty. Dust and rubbish behind and under furniture. Furniture old and tatty. Walls need good coat of paint. Curtains very old, different lengths - looked horrible. Bathroom really 3rd class. Shower handset fitting broken so could not have a hands free shower. Bathroom tiles were not cleaned properly with water marks and previous tennant hand prints everywhere. Mirror was covered in watermarks.

Garden surrounding room had plastic bottles and other rubbish clearly visible and full of dead or dying plants in pots.

Staff are lazy. Either playing with their mobile phones or chatting to each other.

This is a 1 star hotel trying and failing to be something it wasn't. Definately not worth the money spent

I stayed here from the 21 to 26 April 2014. If you pay $10 pr night, you are paying to much.

My partner and I were travelling around Thailand with friends and came to Samui. We booked a Deluxe Garden View Bungalow. Our first impression was poor. The hotel is home to a small power station at the front and the thick electrical wiring was both audibly crackling and sparking. The staff were not welcoming and spoke little English. They never smiled. The reception was run down and dirty. There was no cooling. We were taken to our bungalow. First impressions of the bungalow itself was not so bad. It was a good size and the bed was large. However the negatives soon became apparent. The AC took about 5 hours to become effective. The bungalow had partial wooden walling and doors so both heat and bugs got in. The bathroom had a deas bockroach in it. There was no complimentary milk and we were told none would be suppplied. The TV and computer did not work. Efforts by staff to fix the TV failed. The wifi also did not work. It worked outside, sometimes but never inside. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. Worst of all perhaps was the water in the bathroom. It was a very unpleasant yellow. I made the mistake of bathing in it and delveloped a nasty rash on my legs and feet (I was later unable to walk and am still on a course of antibiotics). On our second night I came home alone after dinner and my partner stayed out for drinks. The AC had after a fashion started working however when I got in it was veru warm. The AC was running but not cooling. I gave it some time thinking it might work but after two hours of sickening heat I called reception. Of course the phone did not work so I had to walk to reception. Someone was sent out about 20 minutes later. He came in and out and spent 30 minutes tinkering outside before disappearing. After 10 minutes the phone rang I managed to hear that we would be moved for the night but we would come back in the morning once the AC was fixed. Another 10 minutes and I was bought a key to another bungalow. In the dark I searched for the new room. I had to pack all our possessions and drag them through the grounds over broken ground in near darkness. I also had to make a note to leave for my partner to find when he got home to redirect him to our new room. The new bungalow was clearly a more expensive one as it jad a kitchen and washing machine. This bungalow was better as the TBTV worked a bit and the wifi worked inside on one of our devices. Whilst the water was clear there was only cold water. Given the level of issues to date I just decided to stick with cold water. We never heard back regarding moving back. The last couple nights were unremarkable. The grounds are run down. The location os good, on the beach. The pools are small and univiting. The breakfast is unpleasant and limited. The selectiom of food became increasingly smaller each day and there were ants in the juice depenser. When we checked out the reception yelled at us for taking an umbrella. She actually waved an umbrella at me. When I explained the second umbrella was on the bedroom floor drying they confirmed this and we left without an apology and with great relief.

All in all this hotel is atrocious. In particular the filty water should be enough to make any visitor avoid this place.

If your want a low key, private bungalow (with a private balcony) located in the best section of Chaweng beach, then i highly recommend you stay at Chaweng Resort. The bungalows are very private & nicely air conditioned, the location is perfect as its walking distance to everything you need, not in the overtly busy heart of Chaweng city and the staff are very attentive & have a care factor to make sure their guests have a pleasant stay. We have now been back for 4 years running and plan on returning on a yearly basis.

Not a fan! Plenty of restaurants, 7-11 across road no supermarkets nearby. Chaweng beach almost non existent. Resort requires a dramatic makeover.
