Alpha Gay Resort & Spa is the only gay resort in Thailand and first ever on Samui Island exclusive to adult gay men only. Alpha’s unique resort is positioned on 6,400 square meters of land securely surrounded by high bamboo fencing offering absolute privacy, with beautifully lush established greenery and large native trees we offer a unique Thailand experience. With only 24 bungalows and rooms it is the perfect quite getaway from busy city life to unwind & rejuvenate. Our large pool has 12 sun loungers and plenty of seating around the bar. The pool and bar area are clothing optional too for those would like to be in nature in all their glory. A separate smaller plunge pool with a jacuzzi area is also available a short distance away from the main pool area for those after a more tranquil poolside experience. In early 2023 the exteriors of the buildings and the landscape have been totally revamped and upgraded transforming the property into a tropical paradise, with continuing upgrades going on to make Alpha Gay Resort a must stay location on Koh Samui for any Gay Men. Alpha Gay Resort & Spa is located just a short walk outside of Chaweng’s busy hub, meaning quieter nights, more privacy and a more relaxed atmosphere. The resort itself has a bar and a dark room for guest to enjoy and these facilities usually close around 9pm to make sure all guests have an enjoyable time, for those wishing to carry on the party there are plenty of places in Chaweng to enjoy until the early hours of the morning. We are less than 10 minutes drive (3 km) from Samui International Airport and less than 12 minutes walk (1 km) to the white sand and blue waters of the famous Chaweng Beach where restaurants, shopping areas, gay bars, dance clubs and drag shows are located. Alpha Gay Resort is partnered with professional and well selected gay businesses on the island such as Divas Cabaret, Blue Oyster Gay Bar, Pride Gay Bar, Hush Dance Club, Elephant and Seen Beach Resort. Our friendly team are on hand to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible and are more than happy to help plan days out, birthday surprises or even just grab you the extra towel you need!

Great location a short walk from a variety of bars (including the three local gay bars), restaurants, shops and the beach.

Beautiful main pool & smaller Sun pool, with plenty of loungers. Bar open for breakfast until late serving a variety of Western and Thai dishes. The main pool is clothing optional which we took advantage of. Pool & beach towels available from the bar.

Above the pool is a steam room, massage rooms and a dark/ room play area which was well frequented.

Our room was modern, clean and had powerful air-conditioning and sunny terrace. Shampoo, shower gel, insect repellant, tooth paste/ brush, body lotion, comb, razer & foam also provided . Room features smart TV pre- connected to netflix, amazon & youtube as well as a fridge with complimentary water.

The grounds and gardens are lush and well maintained.

While we where there, there was a mid-week pool party with fabulous Swedish DJ, which was very busy and really fun, with day passes available for outside guests. The resort plans weekly parties and events.

A great experience, lots of single travellers and couples of all nationalities, we will return for a longer stay next time. Jun & Vial where Great and catered to everyone's needs.

I just spent a great three nights at Aplha Gay Resort. After a last minute decision to attend the Full Moon party I found Alpha was offering a great package for three nights. Even without the extras included to get us to the party and back safely the room rate was very competitive.

The room was clean and had all the requirements to keep you comfortable. The pool and bar area was a great meeting place to get to know other guests. Coming out of COVID there are a few staffing shortages as the resort is not running at full capacity but Jun the resort manager and his current staff easily make up for this. Jun was hospitable and knowledgeable, balancing between front desk agent, bar tender and unofficial island host.

The resort is in need of some attention to the grounds and some rooms were offline at this stage. This is not a suprise after the past couple of years and I hope that the owners give this resort a refresh. The heart of the hotel is wonderful and a great space for LGBTQ travellers to visit Koh Samui. Jun is an invaluable asset and his efforts surpass any minor aesthetic adjustments that need to be done.

Hands down I will be back at Alpha for another cocktail.

I was lucky enough to arrive in Koh Samui before the corona virus turned serious. Although there were few guests, there was a lovely communal vibe to the place, and the kind staff helped create a fun and relaxing environment in spite of the restrictions. The pool parties are legendary and also attract interesting and cute locals, in addition to resort guests. Rooms are spacious and kept impeccably clean by the caring staff. A true oasis within walking distance of great restaurants, bars, and the beach. I will definitely come back here some day.

We receive a message AFTER having booked (so too late, we are trapped) to announce that due to the Covid, the reception is closed, the pool bar only opens one evening out of 2 (which won't even be the case), that the room will only be cleaned and sheets changed every 3 days (but we stayed 5 days and the room was never cleaned, nor sheets or towels changed). And that the pool terrace, where the deckchairs are, is closed for work (we do not know if this work will take place, nothing seems to be committed in this direction). So a swimming pool without a bar, without deckchairs, obviously without towels… and therefore without a customer. So we couldn't take advantage of it, and we never saw anyone there. This resort is dying. All social spaces are closed (reception, breakfast room, pool terrace and bar), so we never met the other guests. Nothing makes this place a gay space. We are told that pool parties are organized. For the first one, we were 3 (my partner and I, and another customer at the bar). And the next one didn't happen, everything was closed when we wanted to go.
The room is only ok, we were upgraded because the room we were supposed to have was damp with a big musty smell. But even in this superior room, a lot of things are damaged, the bedding is good, the bathroom is quite dirty, very basic. The photos date from a time when this resort was beautiful. But beware, they no longer reflect reality today. Now, this resort must be completely renovated, everything is decrepit. And what's more, it's far from everything and from the beach, on the edge of a very busy road. You will need a car or scooter.
Samui's many resorts seem to be working, with staff, so the Covid argument is a lie. A word of advice: there are many very pleasant resorts in Samui, close to the beach for the same price. You will be much better there.

Response from Jun Pines, Guest Services / Front Office at Alpha Gay Resort & Spa
Responded Aug 17, 2022
Thank you for your review. First of all the guests only paid 1,300 baht per night for the room with breakfast for 2 so basically they are only paying 800 per night for 2 of them. No hotel will give you that offer but a hostel only. One of the reasons we lowered our rates is because of limited facilities and services we are giving before we completely renovate and upgrade the place because of the effect from the pandemic. The guests were very much informed before they checked in 2 weeks before they checked in. They have the opportunity to inquire and decide if they will proceed with their booking. We only have 19 rooms and we have 50-60% occupancy so they can not expect many people in the pool whenever they want to go. The pool is 24 hours open then some guests use the pool area and they were not there. The pool party schedule we sent to them has also a warning that the schedule may change without prior notice due to manpower. That is why the pool bar is closed if there are no people in the pool area. Plus the customer service we provided them is impeccable. As for the cleaning, they were informed to inform us if they want us to clean and change their linens after 3 days but we never received a message from them.  The resort is 30 years old and at the moment we are in the process of repairing and upgrading the resort as well as hiring more staff so we can open other facilities in the resort.

I spent an afternoon at Alpha Gay Resort and Spa and indulged in the 3.5 hour “perfect skin” spa package which was absolutist incredible. Tom, the in house Masseur was so professional, skilled, kind and really made me feel at ease, relaxed and welcomed. The facilities weee lovely, much better, modern and cleaner than other gay massage businesses I visited in Koh Samui during our stay.

The Steam Room, Massage Treatment room, the showers are spotlessly grown and hygienic. As soon as I arrived I was made to dele welcome by the owners/managers and other guests staying at the resort also.

My partner and I would definitely consider staying here on our next trip to Koh Samui. The pool area, bar and gardens are beautifully maintained and very clean.
I highly recommend you check this place out whilst visiting Koh Samui.

Very reasonably priced, great service and very comfortable and welcoming! Thanks guy 🙏

Stayed last week for 3 nights and while the resort itself will undergo renovations (needed), the room inside were spacious and linens very clean. So that is always necessary. The manager Jun, makes all the difference. He is very sociable and took the guests out to a fun night at the gay bars including cabaret/drag show. He is a social butterfly and puts everyone at ease. I got to meet other gay travelers (may not be staying at this resort), but ended up being great friends with a Brazilian pair of travelers who had the same exact onward itinerary to Koh Tao. Very random and would not have happened if manager Jun, didn’t take the time to look after his guests (even though we were not staying at the same resort).

Covid has hit many resorts hard and this one is trying their best to cater to full service again with daily cleaning and nightly bar service. I was told new investment is coming in the next few months with renovations to the pool and common areas, which is indeed needed. But as mentioned the rooms inside were spacious and clean. The most important right?

Stayed at the resort for 4 nights while on Koh Samui - location was great and close to a popular night market and the rooms were large and comfortable. Jun, the resort manager, was very friendly and went out of his way to help organize events and people to meet up. Had an excellent stay and would recommend.

I have stayed 12 days at Alpha gay resort. I had the pleasure to stay in 2 different rooms. The first room was a standard room. The bathroom was on the small side, but then again I am a tall guy. The beds were very good! Also the tight dark curtains helped me sleep nicely after sunrise! Unfortunately the room wasn’t cleaned every day but this was due to the last covid restrictions which I was informed about upfront! There was a small issue on my painted floor and the GM (Jun) noticed himself and offered me the middle villa next to the pool. This was of course magnificent! The villa is what I would always book. Spacious, seperate toilet and bathroom, big terrace with bar, double bedroom, etc. The only minus for me was the curtains, which were not that closed and dark as the ones in the standard rooms. A recommendation would be to change these so you can turn it totally dark. For me it was a great stay.
Maybe a list of drinks/snacks at the room would be nice so people who like to stay in-room can order.
Concerning the bar it is a very nice easy going poolbar. Nice to sit and meet nice guys. Toilet, shower and pool are very clean.
The renewed area at the pool is wonderful and clean.
The location of the hotel is great, far enough from all noice at night at the clubs but only 10min walking from the nightlife and beach.
Jun, the GM at Alpha, works a lot, does a great job and is very helpful with all types of informations or organisations such as going out all together to clubs, boat trips etc.
I saw that the hotel is working on more suites etc, big jacuzzi and some darkrooms, which will just make it even more fun to go!
My general thought… a 4,5/5 score! For sure a must do!

Stayed for 2 nights in May 2023. The manager, Jun, is very kind and will help you with anything during your stay.
I stayed for the first time in 4 years, but there were new facilities such as a gym and so on.

During my stay, I received a massage service (I heard that I was the first customer).
The massage room is also very open and comfortable and I was able to relax with a private steam sauna and shower.
The boy was very gentlemanly and gave me a very pleasant massage.
Although it is more expensive than massages in town, it is recommended for staying guests because you can spend a relaxing and luxurious time.

The rooms are all arranged around a central garden with a bar and swimming pool at the centre. Jun, the manager, goes out of his way to make sure that everyone is happy and nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend a stay. Excellent value for money too.

Not sure I would call them "wild", a lot depends on the number of people there. While I was there the people that attended the parties were a pretty good crowd and it was enjoyable but not crazy. Hope this helps.
