We arrived late afternoon and were surprised by the overwhelming Châteaux. Well renovated and friendly. Staff is not always fluent in English nor any other languages. They do what they can. Nice room. Good AC. Good beds! The golf is superb. Difficult course but nice to play! You hear nothing but birds and quite! In short realy worth going for a few days! Nice kitchen good golf good beds and good cold Afflichem
We spent a very good time at Chateau d’Augerville to celebrate a birthday. High quality spa, very tasteful gastronomic restaurant, the bar with terrace view was pefect. I recommend Chateau d’Augerville
This is by far the worst five star hotel I have ever stayed in. I have never felt the need to write a review in my life until now. My group and I were in town for the horse show in Fontainebleau, and had five rooms in total yet were still treated terribly. To begin on a positive note, the restaurant was fine. Flowers in it were fake, though. First of all, upon our arrival, we had little help with our bags. Next, we were starving and called to ask for room service at 4pm, and they said the kitchen was closed, despite the room service menu and the website advertising 24 hour room service. When I tried to communicate that with them they simply laughed and hung up. We also found an extremely large bug in our room. On the last day, we wanted to utilize the hot tub and pool in the spa. We asked the woman at the front desk, and she said the spa closed at 8, but it was “not possible” for us to use the facilities, despite it being 6:30. When we asked why, she said it was full. However, we had been in there and seen only a single person so we communicated this to her. She repeatedly said it was not possible whenever I asked why and was snide, rolling her eyes every time I tried to understand why it was not possible. Her and other staff members then proceeded to laugh at me as I walked away for no reason. I was very kind to every staff member here and was met with largely nothing but unwelcoming disgust. Furthermore, this place is in the middle of nowhere, no nearby restaurants or anything to do off the property. Fontainebleau is a solid thirty minutes away, and it takes about an hour for the hotel to get a car and they will once again roll their eyes like you are a burden if you ask. Maybe it is because I am American, but be warned. Do not stay here. Complete ripoff.…
Even though the hotel was supposedly fully booked, we did not hear anybody or anything from our room. We had the windows open in the morning, overlooking the beautiful and expansive grounds, listening to the birds. We are not golf enthusiasts, but this place must be a golfer’s paradise. Unfortunately we only stayed one night and didn’t have time to use the spa which looked quite luxurious. The staff was pleasant and helpful. (Not sure why there were other TA reviews complaining about poor service.) A wonderful and romantic getaway...
Outstanding place to relax, stay in a very nice historical chateau and play golf on a very challenging but beautiful course. The spa is very nice too. We really recommend it, you will return again and again...
We stayed to celebrate my brother s 50th birthday. The staff could not have been nicer and flexible. The place and parc are beautiful. The rain could not have damped the atmosphere. An outbuilding was privatised for the party and it was perfect. The spa is gorgeous and the chocolate workshop was so much fun and interesting
This lovely chateau has been made into a luxury hotel with everything we could have hoped for as a weekend escape. The tower room was spacious and romantic, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel staff made us feel welcome and at home, and they did everything they could to take care of us and ensure that we had everything we needed. We are definitely looking forward to coming back here again for another weekend. For wheelchair travelers: Room #6 in the tower was perfect for us. The bathroom was a bit narrow but the door was wide enough to get in with a wheelchair so we managed. The hotel staff will be more than happy to provide you with measurements or other details you need to know before you reserve, to ensure that you get a room that will work for you. They also have a wheelchair-accessible room in the "dependency" rooms (separate buildings from the chateau), but we wanted to be IN the chateau and we found that Room 6 was perfect for us. …
This was our last night of our European driving tour before driving home, the hotel is stunning from the outside and set well out into the countryside. Arriving at the entrance there was no concierge / doorman to greet or help us with luggage, strange as this hotel claims to be 5 star. I made my way into reception to find some help and was given a poor half heartened welcome by a young lady, who in fact in the end came out to help with luggage. She was a young small lady and I felt awkward allowing her to life our large set of luggage so myself and my wife had to assist carry everything to our room. Whilst the receptionist was a pleasant enough young lady it was clear early there was a lack of proper training to reflect a 5 star hotel. Our room was lovely and had a view to the back of the hotel onto the ground's and golf course. The room was well decorated with modern clean furnishings along with traditional fittings to compliment the hotel's Chateau period feel. We then spent the rest of the afternoon in the hotel's bar sitting outside looking across the grounds, staff were attentive, apart from one of the guests flying their drone in front and above us it was a pleasant afternoon. Later that evening we prepared to dine in the main restaurant, i had noticed early that there was no complimentary water in the room and bringing this to the attention of the night reception before bed they made it clear there was no complimentary water and that I needed to pay for it from the mini bar and showed no genuine concern as I officially asked to make it a complaint. If you stay in a 5 star hotel you pay 5 star prices and I have never found proper 5 start hotels let alone 4 star and B&B's to charge, its frankly an insult and an obvious way of making a quick buck while upsetting paying customers. While getting ready the shower in our room did not work safely/properly, I explained to reception that it kept bursting scalding hot water intermittently and they said they were aware ! why put us in that room and expect us to simply accept they knew about it. I would point out that the dinner in the main restaurant was excellent, staff attentive and food well presented and very enjoyable in what is a lovely period room. Breakfast in the morning was very poor, terrible people skills by the elderly woman serving and a poor breakfast selection. Again a 5 star hotel would at least offer an option of cooked egg varieties. A few things have let this hotel down, shame because it could be excellent but because the points made above reflect to me that this is not a 5 star hotel with no complimentary room water, a doorman/concierge, poor breakfast service and lack of proper training, these things have let this beautiful hotel down. If it was not for the great bar and dinner service i would have rated this hotel poor, instead its average.…
We spent a long weekend at the Chateau for a relaxed gastronomic getaway. We booked the Junior suite, our friends were in a deluxe room. We expected a castle like decoration and atmosphere in our room but we basically felt like staying in a Mercure hotel! Our meal in the castle main restaurant was fantastic (both food and service), however the second evening, the restaurant was full and they recommended their adjacent brasserie...I don't recall having such a terrible meal. The amuse bouche was a large scoop of quark served without bread or trimming (felt like eating spoonfuls of sour cream). I ordered the steak tartare, One word...disgusting! I love steak tartare and ususally will order it if o the menu, theirs in nothing but a large blob of hamburger with an egg yolk. I would strongly recommend Chateau de Courcelles (Reims region) if you are looking for a "castle" experience!…
Unfortunately for us we were held up in a 4 hour delay at the channel tunnel in Folkestone which cut our already short overnight stay down to even an even shorter stay. However, after driving through temperatures in the high 30’s on arrival this Chateau just instantly relaxes you. The tree lined entrance, setting and the grounds of the Chateau are absolutely stunning and to top it all off they have a Michelin starred restaurant on site which delivers outstanding food and wine at a reasonable price. Whilst I am not a golfer, I must admit the course looked stunning and made me want to take the sport up! The rooms were beautifully decorated and fully air conditioned to deal with the high temperatures and were even dog friendly. Whilst we never had a chance to use the Spa area I am sure it matched the quality of every other facility at the Chateau. This place is special and we will be returning soon. …
