We stayed in a gite about five miles away and dined at several Mochelin starred restaurants in the Pays Baque region. Auberge Basque is situated in a lovely setting, light dining room with a modern flair, very good service and welcoming staff. We could have picked our own dishes from the menu but agreed to have the chef "surprise" us,...

We spent 2 nice day in this auberge and toured the Area, Beautiful. Nice room with view on the garden. Unfortunately we had to change rooms after the first night. But we were informed beforehand that this would be the case. Delicious dinners in this restaurant (one Michelin star). Friendly staff, creative Chef.

Setting: great. Food: so-so Flies: unwelcome Setting around this establishment is very beautiful. The rooms, however are quite rustic and basic (but it IS a B&B style establishment). I didn't mind that so much, but we had to spend 20 min killing the 20 or so flies in our room (welcome to the countryside?). There were in the restaurant too,...

My husband and I stayed at Auberge Basque during a month long road trip in France, and this was certainly one of the highlights. First, the room was incredibly reasonably priced. The view from our room, which opened onto a patio, was amazing (I don't know why more people don't go to the French Basque country - it is a...

such a fantastic location, just beautiful outdoor areas in the hills. Amazing food at breakfast, and the room was lovely too. It is just a great place, and the staff were so lovely. However we were annoyed that we were told that the rate through booking.com did not include breakfast, but if we had booked direct for the same price...

Bonjour silver shower and thank you for sharing your opinion after your stay at L’Auberge Basque. A beautiful hotel & stunning location up in the hills above St Jean de Luz. Really helpful staff & a gorgeous view in whichever direction you look. Room was probably on the small side given the price you pay, and also cheeky that breakfast isn't included (however it is if you book direct through their own website). Breakfast was, however,...

We first visited this hotel about 10 years ago. We loved it and decided to go back for a romantic week-end. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was superb and the location is fabulous with stunning views from the restaurant. We were, however a little disappointed that some areas were looking a bit tired. To be fair...

See stayed here 2 nights. It is very stylish and comfortable. Huge shower. Huge bed. Beautifully furnished in a modern meets Basque country house style. We had a room at the front which was ok, but you get traffic noise. Quiet at night.

This is a charming small property with small rooms but a fantastic ktichen. We had 2 terrific meals. The staff were attentive and focused on our comfort despite the fact that they were clearly working very hard to do many things at once
