A bit of a trip from San Jose, but well worth! Great people, beautiful scenery, diving, fresh water pool, surrounded by jungle and rain forests, on the Pacific and close to town. The restaurant was good, but not great - except breakfast! Many places to eat and many fun tours to take. I'd go back without any 2nd thoughts, but...

Property was beautiful. Top of a large mountain/hill overlooking the Pacific. Wildlife everywhere-iguanas, birds, racoons. Food is expensive, like American prices. Dinner was anywhere average $75 at the hotel and $50 at Playa Coco. Bed was great. Bathroom needed updating but it was clean with great water pressure. Beach was small, but with lovely black sand and warm water. Many...

Ocotal beach is one of our favorite places in CR. The sea is calm which is great for kids. Water is clear and excellent for snorkeling White sand beach is clean and not many people. This resort is right on the beach and runs up the cliff. The views from the rooms and restaurant are amazing. Down at the beach...

We stayed a week to relax and enjoy time off in the second week of November. The first few days we felt like we were the only ones there, the pool was quiet, no services were open. The web said they rented kayaks and bikes but apparently they stopped that so we were able to find nearby places instead. During...

We were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very comfortable, with no shortage of hot water and with excellent air conditioning. The resort itself is beautiful and well-maintained, albeit with a bit of wear and tear. The staff are some of the friendliest I have come across in extensive travels, even in the face of some occasionally obnoxious tourists! The...

Ocotal Beach Resort may not be everyone's cup of tea but it met my needs perfectly. There's a lot of good information on this site and elsewhere, so those who go there expecting the Four Seasons or even a big Hilton-type resort have only themselves or their agents to blame. Also, a little research will probably turn up a hefty...

That this hotel considers itself a resort struck us as odd...it's not. You arrive Ocotal Beach Resort via a winding road and pas through three security checkpoints. The front desk is lacking in any festive atmosphere, quite boring actually. It made me want to turn around and leave. The rooms are scattered by the hillside or down on the beach....

When we arrived, the room we were given was awful but the view was unmatched. We asktd to change rooms and were given 2 choices. One room that was way more updated. And the honeymoon suite for $40/nt more. We picked the honeymoon suite. It was great. However, we hated the beach and we didn't like Coco beach - it...

We loved Ocotal. It was a long drive from Monteverde to get there, but well worth it. It know everyone tends to stay in Tamarindo for it's great beach, but we loved the view at Ocotal. Being up on the hill--you could just look at the views all day. It is a real hike up the hill. My boys called...

Nice private beach, good security hotel area, clean room, but a litlle bit small and you can hear your noise neighbours every night. Restaurant service is good, but not exellent. Breakfast is poor and it is the same every day. If you stay a long time, like I, it is not good. From hotel to Coco Beach for shops, restaurants...
