I paid extra for a seaview room and found that that meant a view of the carpark with sea glimpses through the palm trees beyond.
Several of us had dinner in the restaurant and all found the food inedible or almost inedible. Most of us chose a veal cutlet in breadcrumbs with broccoli. The very soggy broccoli was the best part of the dish, the meat was so tough I was unable to eat any of it.
Cleaning is good. Beds are comfortable; breakfast is below average (don’t get coffee from the machine if you care for your life…) ask the waiter.
All in all the place has a rundown feeling…. Great potential but no will!
Sound: The walls were quite thin, my brother and his partner were staying in the room near us and we could hear them laugh, sneeze, speak, and snore. I could hear the gentleman in the room on the other side blow his nose.
Cleanliness: The floors were in desperate need of a mopping. I cringed to walk barefoot through the room after taking a shower. I actually took a wet wipe to the bathroom floor, as there was dirt caked on it. (Let's just say it was dirt.)
Bathroom: The water pressure was adequate. The sink, faucet, and shower needed the attention of both a housekeeper and a maintenance person. The toilet had a paper band slid over the lid ensuring the guest it had been sanitized. While appreciated, I highly doubt the rest of the room was.
Bed and Linen: I found the beds throughout Siciliy to be very firm, but this one was the firmest. To me it was like sleeping on a box spring that supports a mattress. I did not see any major stains on the duvet or pillow cases. The towels, as well, seemed to be stain-free.
Staff: The few interactions we had with staff were not worthy of comment. They were neither dismissive and rude, nor overly friendly.
Food: I found the food to be adequate -- I tasted much better at the two other hotels we stayed in Sicily, but it wasn't my worse hotel meal, either.
Pool and Grounds: We stayed in mid-September for one night, so we did not have a chance to try the pool. It looked to be fairly clean.
I suppose if you found an excellent deal, Dioscuri Bay Palace Hotel would be acceptable, but honestly, I think it would be the equivalent of staying at a roadside motel, rather than an upscale spa-like resort.
It is not a very nice hotel to say the least. The rooms are extremely well worn, they should have been redone years ago. The breakfast is mediocre at best - canned fruit every day, we’re in Sicily why can’t you have fresh fruit. The only thing the hotel has to recommend itself is a nice pool, but be aware that swim caps are required for all swimmers and there is a fee for a pool towel. Also, the pool was closed for most of one day when we were there with no explanation.
Yes, the hotel is near the water and some rooms offer great views. That doesn’t make up for towels with stains and holes. The staff “hides” away, for example there was often no one at the front desk.
I will never return to this hotel. The worst hotel I’ve every stayed in.
Needs a good renovation, old and outdated hotel.
The breakfast service was very good and the breakfast staff was phenomenal.
They came to wake us up on the day of departure with a “ring” at eight in the morning in our room (the rooms have a bell)
The rooms are terrible, the shower, a bathtub with a curtain, the beds, uncomfortable and hard as stones, you can hear everything from the next rooms, there is humidity.
Add to that we spent the first night in the hotel staying up late killing mosquitoes, our room was full.
The pool is very good, the only drawback I would say would be the swimming caps, if it is something mandatory, be notified and they could be provided by the hotel for free.
Speaking of location.
Close to the port.
During the day it is difficult to find a good restaurant to eat, if not impossible.
At night the promenade is filled with atmosphere and life, great restaurants within a five-minute walk.
In short, the hotel is not even 3* for me to be a 4*.
There is no coverage, only in certain locations.
We spent 30 minutes waiting at reception on the day of checkout and no one showed up.
The images speak for themselves.
"It’s nice a cool in the lobby where the workers are. They just expect customer to sleep in hot room to save electricity bill. Pathetic"Read full review
