We chose this Table D'hotes because we wanted to do some wine tasting in the Loire Valley and have somewhere to stay and eat that would be suitable for our toddler. This fitted the bill perfectly! Sue's food was lovely, really tasty and the wine we had suited the meal very well. John is and MW so very passionate about... More

We strayed here with son and girlfriend and had the most amazing time. John and Sue could not have been more helpful and if you find French breakfast a bit predictable this is the place to come for a complete change. Sue's dinners are also fantastic and incredibly reasonably priced and John talks you through the wines served with each... More

Four chaps from Church went to stay with John and Sue for a long weekend - what a great weekend! Great food, excellent wine education, beautiful house and village, lovely spacious rooms with views across the vineyards, super programme to accommodate our specific requirements and wonderful, wonderful wines - what more could you possibly ask? The Land Rover was close... More

This truly is a special find. If you want to spend a few days in this beautiful chateaux area of France or if you're just passing through venturing further afield you'll receive a warm welcome from John and Sue. Make sure you take advantage of Sue's delicious evening meals and enjoy John's expert knowledge of local wines. You'll enjoy eating... More

We spent 2 nights in Sue and John's B&B. They are really nice and welcoming people. John, an ancient wine merchant is a real book. Our room was nice, and big enough for us. We strongly recommend it ! (do not hesitate to eat their because Sue's cooking is good, and the wine is excellent !)

We stayed for 2 nights in October. We chose this B and B as we wanted to explore the vineyards in the Loire. As we were unsure about which places to visit we were hoping for a bit of guidance from John and Sue. We weren't disappointed. John has a detailed knowledge of the vineyards and gave us a taster... We stayed two nights and could happily have spent more there. John and Sue, who happen to come from the same place in the North as me, are perfect hosts. Sue's meals are really tasty and interesting accompanied by John's wines, which, being a retired wine merchant, he chooses well and helpfully comments on them. Being interested in wine, I... More

September 2013. Stayed a night here on my way back to the UK from SW France. In a lovely, peaceful village by the river, this is a very comfortable and tastefully renovated "maison de maître" B and B with dinner as an option. Run by a charming and hugely hospitable couple, John and Sue, who made me feel very welcome.... More

We visited for just a few days in May 2013 for a short break but also through professional interest in this area as a wine region. It is the perfect place to stay in order to visit the vineyards and chateau in this beautiful area. John & Sue make you welcome from the start. The rooms are spacious (in fact... More

When we visited and reviewed St. Georges in 2011 we said we would definitely be returning! Once again, John and Sue were so welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in their Champigny room. Sue served her excellent daily breakfast and we also enjoyed one of her fabulous dinners with plenty of excellent wines provided by John. John gave us... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A 'maison de maitre' chambre d'hotes with 4 letting bedrooms set amongst vineyards in a pretty village in the Loire Valley. We booked a themed wine weekend with special menus, comparative tastings and vineyard visits. We were warmly welcomed, tasted (and bought) a wonderful range of Loire wines recommended by John (a retired wine merchant) and ate magnificent food prepared by Sue. Bedrooms beautifully decorated and well appointed with luxury bathrooms. Lots of wonderful chateaux and interesting towns to visit as well as vineyards. ... more   less
