From the very first minute of our arrival to the hotel we were made to feel welcome. Around twenty people arrived at a time and there was quite a big crowd at the reception but everyone was given a cool drink and a big smile and the receptionists did their best to go through the procedures as fast as they could. We booked a room with a see view, and the description said that we could either have a room with a balcony or a terrace. Ours was with a balcony and because of other balconies popping out on both sides, we only had a patch of the see view. However, it was big enough to enjoy the view of the palms against the backdrop of the aquamarine and hear the sound of the waves. Moreover, other balconies gave the shadow so that your room is not under the scorching sun the whole day. The room itself was spacious and well designed, with a huge bed, built-in shelves, bedside tables, an armchair, a fridge. The bathroom was big with all the amenities you need - bidet, flexible and adjustable shower head, sink with stone counter top. Both the room and the bathroom were ideally clean; light colors and general design added to the feeling of lightness and freshness. The lack of the see view from the room was more than compensated by the view from the hotel restaurant where we had breakfasts and dinners. We were spoiled for food - the variety of meat, seafood, desserts and whatnot was overwhelming. We liked every dish we tried and there was hardly ever repetitions of hot dishes in those days we spent in the hotel. The restaurant staff was friendly, competent and helpful. I think I saw the manager of the hotel serving as a waiter which, to me, is the sign of true leadership and the desire to know your customers' needs. Sol La Palma hotel is isolated from the rest of Puerto Naos, but this is exactly what makes it so unique and so irresistibly magnificent. The pool visually "touches" the ocean; pool bar offers lots of comfortable places with beautiful views with.without a shadow; beach lovers can enjoy the ocean without having to walk long distance. The huge beach with black volcanic sand is just 250-500 meters' walk from the hotel along the wide paved promenade. This promenade leads to the local bars and beach clubs, and this promenade also offers a spectacular view of the hotel, the mountains, the sunsets and the stars in the night sky. Due to the absence of mass tourism on La Palma in general and the remoteness of the hotel from the capital city, you might get a false impression that this place is for retired people. Yes, there were many elderly visitors there, but there were also middle-aged people and young couples and everyone had a chance to engage in a variety of activities to their linking: chilling at a hotel/beach bar; getting a massage; doing aerobics in the pool; going on hikes to the waterfalls/national parks/volcanoes; taking trips to the banana plantations; paragliding. We were staying at the hotel when the volcano erupted on 19 September and I would like to use this opportunity to thank the hotel team for the excellent job they did during and after the evacuation. I'm not sure if you got trained for the emergency like this but I observed cooperated and coordinated actions of the hotel personal. Thank you for being there for us, for taking care of everyone, for providing us with the support we needed in this situation. You brought us to safety to Tenerife in one of the partner hotels, and this is were it occurred to me that I'm going to compare all other hotels to yours, and, I'm afraid, other hotels will lose the competition. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of La Palma. I pray for their safety and the safety of their property. I pray for the safety of the location where the hotel is situated - this is paradise on Earth and people should be given the blessing of discovering this place for themselves.…
Ruben and he team in this hotel made us feel very welcome and did everything possible to make our holiday one to remember xx This hotel has.a modern vibe and everything you could hope for from a hotel that cares. We felt safe and cared for and it was super clean too. The hotel was amazing and the pool area and DJ were absolutely brilliant . The Food was gorgeous and a had huge variety too. Rooms beautiful and views stunning. We’ve been to Lanzarote and now Sol Melia in La Palma and because of this we’ve booked Fuerteventura Sol Melia too. Excellent hotels , thank you
Hotel Sol La Palma was in an excellent location near local bars and restuarants, very near to the beach. Staff all very good, nothing too much trouble! Nice touch to see the Manager Sebastien Boue mixing with the guests and staff. Would highly recommend this hotel, looking forward to returning.
This is already the 8th time I visit this hotel, and I have to say this is one of my favorite locations of all time ! Going there as a family or as a couple is always a great experience : + The food is great and very diverse, makes it easy even if you have specific requirements (veggie, etc.) + The view from the room is incredible : Beach, sea and sunset + The entire hotel team is great, and always makes the extra-mile to make your experience special. + The hotel is perfectly located, literally 1 min walk from the beach - The menu for lunch has been reduced in terms of choices recently, but I guess this is because of Covid. Overall a great experience both for families and couples, would definitely recommend. Looking forward to coming back !
We've stayed in this hotel in july 2021. We took a suite and payed an extra 400€ for that. Checkin was okay. We had to fill in lots of forms though. Maybe this process could be a little leaner? What we did not like when we arrived at the hotel, was that the first contact we had with hotel-staff was a parking-staff member who told us we had to pay 5€ per dag to park the car. This is something which should be avoided. I also think it would be better if parking would be free at the hotel. The room was good concerning space. We had a suite and this meant a double room (salon and bedroom) and a good bathroom. The terrace was spatious. We missed the direct seaview though. We also missed a bottle water in the room and some coffee and tea. When we took a shower, the shower broke down (some plugs came loose). We took contact with reception and they solved the problem with maintenance. This was a good solution for us. The garden and pool-area are great in this hotel! We really liked it! This is the main feature of the hotel we think. Other areas in the hotel need lots of extra care and refurbishment. e.g. the hallways, the staircases,... Some areas were realy badly maintained. A 4 star hotel should avoid these situations. The food was okay, but was not 'wow'. …
Visited here in March just before the lockdown. The hotel is great, staff friendly and spotless. As others have said sometimes the food wasnt warm enough which made us go to the show cooking for food as that was always warm enough. Would visit again.
Spent 1 week here, booked through TUI half board,it was cheaper than B&B through other on line operators and included transfers.Had to fly from Manchester, would have prefered my local airport LBA,but no flights are available from there.Left Manchester during heavy rain, only to land at La Palma through heavy cloud, then when walking to the mini bus(only me on it) it was chucking it down. After an interesting trip to the other side of the Island, where the weather was totaly different,I arrived at the Hotel Sol a big building and well spread out on a penninsula at the far end of a black sandy beach in a small town called Puerto Naos.My room was not ready on arrival so had to leave my baggage in room and went for a walk until it was, they did offer me another room after about an hour, but I waited a bit longer. The room was nice and spacious and bright with a balcony over looking the garden and a part sea view,2 comfy chairs and a table. The bathroom was also spacious with a nice sized walk in shower, with overhead srinkler and a hand held one. You`ll get used to which one the initial cold blast of water will come from, don`t wory it warmed up quickly, there is a hair drier in the bathroom as well. There is an auditorium with a stage and the shows they put on were brilliant. The lobby area is grand with a spiral staircase down to the restaurant and exit to the rear swimming pool (there is another at the side) and garden, outside bar and an Italian restaurant, the rear pool over looks the sea.The staff at the reception were very helpfull but at busy times it may take a bit of a wait to see them. One nice little touch, when I got back to my room after a days drive to the capital Santa Cruz de la Palma, was a bottle of sparkling wine, some nibbles a couple of baloons and a card wishing me a happy 60th birthday from the staff.I must admit,I was on holiday on my own and that did touch me.How did they know? Well DOB is on my passport and on the booking but I do go away on the same week every year and its not happened before,I hear you say but you`ve never been 60 before, true but I have been 50.In all really did enjoy my stay here and will be back at some time.I did hire a car through the hotel for 3days and saw a lot of the Island,it is fantastic.I had a trip down to the southern tip with a stop at Volcan San Antonio, although it was to windy to go all the way round the edge, then lunch at Playa de Punta Larga,a very quaint spot with a beech, little shacks and caravans for houses(bit like a hippy commune) and a small taverna type place to eat. Then followed the road to Playa Del Faro and Las Salinas (salt pans)Then on the LP207 passed the foot of Volcan Teneguia and through the lava fields and back upto Fuencaliente and back to the main road. Then another day up the north west coast to Puntagorda,La Mata and on the LP1 then turned right at Roque Faro onto the LP109,I`ve driven on some fantastic roads in my time but this one,WOW not for the faint hearted but you just have to do it.Very narrow, twisty through rain forest with tunnels hacked out of the cliffs(not machined off walls)dark, single track with roots from the trees above hanging down.It eventually brings you out at Barlovento then down to Santa Cruz and then right on the LP4.Another amazing road, it takes you above the cloud for miles(or kilometers)past the highest peaks and observatories on the Island.Would be good to go up there in the dark for star gazing. If you choose to do this route allow a full day to enjoy.I did intend to up La Cumbrecita but the road was closed due to low cloud.Would`nt have bothered me but the park ranger was having none of it.I think the south west where the Hotel Sol is,is sunnier than the east of the island and drier, when ever I was over the east side there was some rain.Puerto Naos is a nice area with the hotel at one end of a nice, clean promenade and a few bars, restaurants and shops at the other.About a 10 minute slow walk.Of all the hotels I looked at this seemed to be closest to other amenities, there is also a mini market outside the front of the hotel .The only down side, the food was ok but not great,I had one evening meal out,yes on my birthday and a few lunch time meals.Another thing the majority of guests were German so it was hard to get to know people as I don`t speak the lingo, the bar service was very slow, and if you like Bananas you`ll be sick of the sight of them by the time you leave. They grow in abundance on La Palma.…
This hotel was in a lovely little resort and in a superb location right next to the sea. We had a lovely room with a sea view. The hotel was also very light and spacious. The only issues we had were with some of the food quality - some cold items at breakfast that should not have been, and with the waiter drinks service in the restaurant, which appeared to be non-existent, alongside a few rude staff. There were also other staff who were very helpful.
What is there left to say about a Sol hotel? This one pleasantly surprised us. We were very pleased with our top end room but I note that Uk Tui do not list these as available. We booked direct with the hotel and thought we still got a good deal on price, The management of the hotel are clearly very competent but staffing levels are pared to the bone. Always a queue at reception and check-in tedious. If you wish to order a bottle of wine with dinner you have to chase down a waiter and almost physically restrain him to take your order he is so busy. It is irritating to be asked to pay a charge for the room safe and car-parking is charged also, although it is easy to park for free on the hotel access road. The food is plentiful and varied, extraordinary value, although a hotel buffet will always be a hotel buffet. The hotel is sited in the driest part of the island. It is obvious why many of the residents are return guests. We enjoyed our stay greatly.…
The Sol La Palma would be a really nice hotel except for one major issue and that is the cold food. Rooms are comfortable, the location is perfect, service is mainly good and the hotel has a good list of facilities and services but the battle each evening to find food that was hot enough was not good. Hot food in the buffet is put under lights that give out little heat and are left to go cold (or at least lukewarm). Luckily some food is cooked in front of you in the restaurant so if you chose one of these dishes you can time it so that you get something hot. Some items are even put under a serving tray with a temperature gauge and even these items are left to go cold (gauge showing 27 or 28 degrees is not uncommon). Choice of dishes was good although it did find some items were overcooked for my taste. The rooms are a good size with comfortable beds, writing desk, two chairs and a refrigerator. My bathroom was a decent size with a good sized shower and a hair dryer. Balconies are a good sized although design of hotel means sea views are not totally uninterrupted (see photo). There are two separate pool areas and I found no issue finding spare sunbeds. The pool at the front of the hotel is particularly nice directly overlooking the sea. The location of the hotel at the end of a beach and only a few minutes’ walk into the village of Puerto Naos was perfect. There is a nice bar area for the evening plus pool bars. There is entertainment put on each evening, quality is not great but on a par with what is normal in hotels of this class. Overall this hotel could easily be great but the cold food put me right off.…
