We had a wonderful view of Kisimul Castle. This is the ancestral home of the MacNeil Clan and our MacKinnon family emigrated to Nova Scotia with the MacNeils and intermarried throughout the ages. The hotel also has an excellent location right across from the Ferry landing. The restaurant was very handy for our meals and the food was very good.

Arrived in a cold wet gale after our flight was delayed for just over an hour because of low cloud. The warmth of the Castlebay hotel was matched by the warmth of our welcome. Nothing was a problem for the staff and dinner and breakfast were superb with plenty fresh seafood on offer. Eating cockles collected from the same beach... More

Fantastic hotel, fantastic location in Castlebay. I stayed on a Monday night into a Tuesday during early November so the hotel and the town were extremely quiet. I'd flown into Barra solely for the purpose of making the flight from Glasgow to land on the beach. (I traveled all the way from New York and have plenty of advice if... More

A very nice hotel with very friendly staff and good food. Situated in Castlebay, Barra's main town, and overlooking Kisimul Castle, the Craigard is an ideal base for touring Barra and beautiful Vatersay.

Friendly bar staff, however booked a double room that was actually a single room. In the morning there was no hot water. Crap experience, just glad it was our last day of a wonderful holiday in the Outer Hebrides. The place could do with a lick of paint.

I visited the hotel on the 24th and 25th of October this year with my wife. the staff are very friendly, the rooms are more than adequate, and the views across the bay are stunning. Be sure to stay at the Castlebay Hotel when visiting Barra. The MacNeil Room looks over the bay and is beautifully furnished. The full Scottish breakfast, included with the room, is delicious and plentiful. The restaurant has great food and serves seafood caught that day.
