...then don't go to the Craigard - food overcooked, very basic and processed. Staff unapologetic and disinterested. Overall poor dining experience - only compensation was spectacular view across the bay.

Stayed here as part of our Islands tour. Lovely welcome from staff. Hotel was clean and tidy. Our room was pretty small but comfortable enough. Spent some time in the bar for drinks and food. Good atmosphere and food was decent. Disappointing that there is only a continental breakfast available if you are going for the ferry especially for the... More

stayed here on final night of our trips round the Hebrides. Very disappointed, room 5 was very small, very tired, not as clean as I would expect for the price paid. The sink was next to my bed as the bathroom was too small. We were booked on the first ferry which is very early but known to the staff,... More

I had my second encounter at the Craigard Hotel with my dad during a recent trip to the Outer Hebrides. We had a really lovely me, with my dad having the salmon whilst I sampled the steak pie. Both main courses were delicious and we had room for a desert too, which was equally good. The view from the restaurant... More

Called in for lunch yesterday. Staff attentive and friendly. The food was plain fair but no complaints about the portions or prices. It was that good we decided to go back today. While we were eating a coach party arrived and the staff managed with great efficiency. Well done to all. Food good again today.

This hotel may not be the poshest but it is one of the friendliest places I have ever visited. It has seven rooms - all of which were spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had amazing views over the bay and out towards the castle. The food was reasonable and not too expensive for an evening meal and the lounge was... More

We ate here twice on a recent visit to Barra, the second time because the weather was so bad that we didn't want to walk further than we needed to from our B&B to find a meal. Food OK but disappointingly 'traditional' given the abundance of local seafood (and we did not think all was freshly cooked, rather than microwaved).... More

Great location. in the heart of Castlebay overlooking Kisimul Castle. But that is it. Room and bathroom outdated and small. Expensive and definately not worth it. Hotel quite old fashioned but no excuse for grubbiness. Layered dust on skirtings and sockets and chairs. Breakfast quality poor and attitude was worse! Which is why we chose to eat elsewhere. Younger staff... More
