They have a higher price for people with disabilities. I you need accessibility do not book here unless you agree to pay more than any other person. We have a pretty bad experience due to that unfair and ilegal policy. Charging more money to people just because they have a disability it’s inhumane

They discriminated me because I need a wheelchair. When I booked they promised me an adapted room but they gave my a room with stairs, after that they wanted to charge me a fee for changing the room so I didn't agreed and they choose to refund the money at 7pm when it's pretty hard to find a place to stay. Do Not Book Here. This people don't deserve your money.

What an interesting place, I still don’t fully understand it. To start: I had a great time for three days on my January honeymoon. The ‘Key West’ architecture is quite interesting and the restaurant building is actually quite a remarkable space. The rooms are spacious and the balconies are lovely. The grounds are very well kept (a lot of work in the Costa Rican jungle!). The adjacent beach, which you reach through a very short pathway, is gorgeous, empty, and connects to other empty gorgeous beaches. The road from Liberia (2h) is actually not that bad, simply not always paved but with bridges. Samara requires a river crossing. Staff is incredibly friendly. Best of all, the place is quiet! It seemed there were very few quests there, but that may of course differ when you are there. Now of course perfection doesn’t exist. The flip side to very few guests was that very few staff members were there. At the pool bar or the lunch restaurant you had to sometimes wait for a server to show up. Then again, at the breakfast and dinner restaurant there was ample and friendly staff. Dining brought further raised eyebrows. I am not cheap, but the current model seems to be to charge low room prices but really high food prices, prices are also all curiously similar. Expect to spend $17-30 on a main course. Breakfast is included but a bit sparse (coffee OR juice, for example), so expect to pay a bit extra there as well. I’m not an expert, but I’d raise room prices and temper the food price gauging. Just make sure you check their menus, which were posted online. Last but not least I’d hate to say it, but even absent-minded me caught two instances of double charging. Embarassment abound. Note that the resort is directly accessed to the beach, but partly separated by a small mangrove. The beach currents make swimming a bit tricky. The pool is lovely but looks over the mangrove (and could use a tiny bit of TLC). I still thought it was stunning. All in all, I do really recommend this place! It’s not perfect but it’s so quiet, friendly and the beach location is beautiful.

I would like to thank and highly recommend Azul Ocean Club Hotel in Costa Rico. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The grounds, the pool, the rooms, dinner, and the breakfast were all amazing. I will miss the balcony, the view, and the sound of the ocean. The buildings and room designs were beautiful. It is located only a short walk from the beach. I am so glad that I choose this hotel. I’ll start with the bad. The room we picked was an upgraded version of the ocean front room and we absolutely loved it. Only down fall and it is a big down fall is that the rooms tend to have a very bad scent, sewage scent .. it ain’t pleaser to say the least. Also I guess the showers could be cleaner. But all in all I have very fond memories of this hotel. It is absolutely stunning. It is very quite since it has very few rooms which has its own charm. The beach it is on is a black sand beach so that was very cool and you’ll see the most beautiful sunsets. I love how all guests prompt each other to come join the sunset even if it’s the first time your seeing them it was an absolute delight and I highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed three nights. Main negative is the road to get to the hotel. FIFTY kms of unpaved, unkept and HORRIFIC road. Dust everywhere. We felt sorry for the people that live in all of this area. Third world country. Like being in safari in Africa The hotel's architecture is pretty, all wood, painted white. Rooms are very spacious with all necessary and expected amenities...Great balcony w hammock. Breakfast was good but included only certain items. Even though, not all inc items were available all the time. You could not have coffee and juice. You had to choose. We had dinner on our first evening. Very good. Next day, the entree prices were increased by $4 & $5 each. We decided to eat somewhere else (check my other review). We had drinks by the pool. They are expensive as a 13% tax + 10% service charge are added to the prices on the menu. The Bloody Mary was mediocre @ best and instead of a celery stalk, it had a dehydrated orange. Never seen before. They should let people know beforehand so they can decide if they still want the BM. The pool area needs SERIOUS "tender loving care" . Who in their right mind would paint rocks blue?? Tacky, tacky, tacky and then PEELING!. Grounds are extremely dry and unappealing. Check my pics! Overall, we had a nice stay but would not recommend or return. There are so many other places to visit without these issues.
