My husband and I stayed three nights. Main negative is the road to get to the hotel. FIFTY kms of unpaved, unkept and HORRIFIC road. Dust everywhere. We felt sorry for the people that live in all of this area. Third world country. Like being in safari in Africa The hotel's architecture is pretty, all wood, painted white. Rooms are very spacious with all necessary and expected amenities...Great balcony w hammock. Breakfast was good but included only certain items. Even though, not all inc items were available all the time. You could not have coffee and juice. You had to choose. We had dinner on our first evening. Very good. Next day, the entree prices were increased by $4 & $5 each. We decided to eat somewhere else (check my other review). We had drinks by the pool. They are expensive as a 13% tax + 10% service charge are added to the prices on the menu. The Bloody Mary was mediocre @ best and instead of a celery stalk, it had a dehydrated orange. Never seen before. They should let people know beforehand so they can decide if they still want the BM. The pool area needs SERIOUS "tender loving care" . Who in their right mind would paint rocks blue?? Tacky, tacky, tacky and then PEELING!. Grounds are extremely dry and unappealing. Check my pics! Overall, we had a nice stay but would not recommend or return. There are so many other places to visit without these issues.…
Had a lovely stay w 3 teenagers and one couple in 2 level villa. Amazing private black beach very secluded and perfect start to our trip to Costa Rica. Loved the villa and views of the beach. Our highlight was best massage both my husband and I had with Lloheidi. She is amazing at deep tissue- must do! I am a regular at getting massages and we both were blown away. It’s also outdoors on yoga pavilion. Which is open to use w mats as well. The food is ok. It is not depicted on the website. We were stumped by only certain items for breakfast being included When room came w free breakfast. Kids enjoyed the gym!
I arrived in the evening and did not get a good look at the location but was already seriously impressed by the beautiful room, it was an appartment!!! With a sitting area and a kitchen and fridge. Separate bedroom and an indoor and an outdoor shower. My porch had a hammock and chair to sit and enjoy the sounds of the tropical rainforest mixed with the sounds of the ocean. What can I say? Gorgeous!!! Staff is very attentive and kind, and nature is everywhere, iguanas by the pool, howler monkeys in the trees eating the mangoes and the cheeky jays trying to steal food from your plate. Loved my stay here, thanks everyone!
Very nice Hotel with relativ good food, which was better than I had before in other hotels in Varadero. I met very nice people and employers there. It was a pleasure to meet and to be hosted by Yoelis (Choco), Pedro and Abraham... Also not to forget Gretel at the beachbar! I would recommend the hotel for everybody, families, singles or couples, younger and elder tourists.
Recently stayed at this hotel. Had great yoga classes in the morning. Five star service with a very friendly staff. Very Covid friendly. The hotel rooms were clean and well maintained. Highly recommend this hotel.
Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip last minute due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions. Even though our cancellation time period was long past, the Azul Ocean Club Hotel refunded our money. I just wanted to write and let everyone know and say that at such a difficult time for us, this was much appreciated- especially in a time that is difficult financially for all of those depending on the tourist industry. We truly appreciated the gesture and look forward to the time when we can re-book and stay at your beautiful resort.
Amazing and quiet place. Clean room. Wonderful restaurant. Private beach. Advice: rent a car, consider renting one that's a 4×4. This is down a gravel road but within driving distance to major cities to visit. We wanted rest and relaxation, not a touristy crowded place. Get a place on the first floor if booking 1 room, those are the ones with a private outdoor shower so you can star gaze while rinsing the shampoo out of your hair! The restaurant is yummy but can get pricey. Think about buying groceries for your room. Keep your toothbrush in a travel container. Some tiny ants like toothpaste.
Stayed here for 3 nights in February 2020. Walked into our room and was overwhelmed by the Doterra infuser. We had to unplug, remove from room and open windows. Rooms are clean and nice. However, we repeatedly stubbed our toes on the pull out sofa. Room prices are reasonable however food and drinks are over priced and mediocre at best. We ordered food by pool and we were literally attacked by an aggressive iguana. He was notorious for this and staff thought it was funny. We warned family with young boys to not have food by pool. Overall my husband felt like it was a 90’s establishment trying to make a poor comeback. I didn’t mind the rooms(once oil diffuser was removed). Great beach, over worked staff, ok food -but over priced
Room- The 2 bedroom states it can sleep 6 people, which it can but it would be rather tight. I suggest if traveling with 3 or more people, I suggest booking the 2 bedroom villa. Breakfast- Breakfast was included w/ the classic Costa Rican breakfast, waffle, pancake and 2 other options which I can't remember. Juice and coffee or tea is included. You could add on meat for $3-4 dollars. Lunch- Pretty good and the pricing was average. We also ordered drinks which weren't bad as well. There is a happy hour by the pool. Dinner: Pricing was reasonable. Steak, Sea Bass and Tuna were absolutely delicious. Shrimp alfredo was rather bland but after some salt, pepper and grated cheese, it was delicious. Traveling from Liberia- I highly suggest arriving on an early afternoon flight. DO NOT arrive in the evening! Stop by the super compro before going to the hotel. We stopped by the super market in Liberia in the Santa Rosa Plaza shopping center (About 10-15 min in the opposite direction of heading to the hotel). The hotel provides complimentary small bottles of water daily. Rental car: Book a 4x4 automatic truck even if it is only 2 people traveling. The drive is about 2-2.5 hours and the last 30 minutes the road is unpaved, and rather rocky and extreme hills in some areas. The closet town is Nosara. Its a cute surfer town. Delicious food options as well. Food- We noticed everyone is laid back and food is made to order. Don't wait until you are hungry to eat. …
I would have given the hotel 4 stars for the nice buildings which were well equipped and of used but high standard. Also the outdoor areas are inviting, clean and practical. There is even a small playground for babies and toddlers! The beach is wide and very flat and therefore ideal for small children, but lacks something special. Still a great spot to relax properly, where there not the usual problems with the service staff. The rooms were serviced perfectly but the restaurant and pool staff should get some training. Several times they take orders but then bring something else or deliver the main dish before any drinks are delivered. It happened that the glass they brought with the drink was full of sand inside and outside, or that the food was on the table but the cutlery was missing. Pretty much things which could be avoided easily. The food was usually pretty good. The cook knows how to prepare tuna! We also had to correct the final bill because 40$ were charged more than the receipts were showing. That might have been a singular mistake, but future visitors might check on this.…
