Tivoli hotel might be one of the best in Tetovo, but i was disappointed. A first the entrance to the non-existent lobby was through a restaurant, secondly the elevators were situated always between floors so that one needs to drag the suitcases down or up half a floor. I am very sensitive to cigarette smoke and I felt it all the time also in the rooms and of course in the restaurant, because in this hotel everyone seemed to smoke. The rooms were relatively clean, but the bathrooms were not so. our shower was broken and the water seeped back from the hand shower.

Our family stayed in two rooms at the Tivoli (one room for our child for two nights, the other room for my husband and I for three nights) in January. The rooms were reasonably clean. However the path to get to our rooms was plain awful. First, we had to first dodge the swarming Roma kids begging for money out on the sidewalk. Then we had to pass through a large, smoky restaurant cafe, where all the men (there appear to be only men in this Albanian-style men's cafe) stared at us. Creepy. We all stunk of smoke the entire time. Lining the corridor to the hotel is a fish tank crammed with large, starving fish, presumably meant for someone's dinner later on. Appetizing? Not really. Finally, after the fish tank, we opened an interior glass door to get to the Hotel lobby. The lobby was a narrow, claustrophobic area. There are elevators from the lobby to the upper floors, but we had drag our luggage up a half flight of steep marble stairs to get to it. This Hotel's biggest failure was hospitality. On the third night, one of the staff members told us that we had violated "the rules" by allowing our child (who lives in the Tetovo area) to visit us in our room for more than 20 minutes. Some hotels have livible lobbies to socialize in. Not this one. Furthermore, the staff member acted as if we had cheated the Tivoli by allowing our child to visit! Cheated? We paid for two nights of lodging for our child in this Hotel, and the child never spent the night with us!! In any case, we were so insulted that we left Tivoli for the Hotel Lirac for the remainder of our Tetovo stay. To get to the Lirac, we retraced our steps, passing down the steep stairs with our luggage, passing the fish tank, the smoking, staring men and the begging Roma. And then we eagerly walked across snowbanks to get to the Lirac. Ironically, the Tivoli literature contains a quote that's supposed to indicate the Tivoli hospitality: "This house belongs first to God, and then to guests." Yeah, sure. As long as the guests stay less than twenty minutes.

Second stay here in what is the best hotel in Tetovo. Our HQ is here so very to get too and very central. The hotel is basic, shower just hanging to the wall, glasses in the bathroom where dirty n not cleaned properly for a while. Bed was hard but ok once you find the spot. I was on the 4th floor but no internet working so they moved me later in the day. One good point is the staff are really friendly in the bar and will accommodate your needs. Breakfast was basic but the bread is fresh and cappuccino with fresh cream on top gives you a good kick start. In winter they have a big roaring fire to keep warm. Tip, get a room at the back facing as it is quieter.

Stayed at Hotel Tivoli three nights in March. For the price, 45 Euros, it's a good deal. My room on the top floor was clean and pleasant, but WiFi was not available that far up. There was some street noise, but nothing that interrupted my sleep. English spoken at the front desk, and in the restaurant. Good food in the restaurant. Non-smokers might like to avoid the cafe at the front of the house.
