We stayed at the Rio Indio Lodge for a week, and we had a great time. Beautiful nature around, good food and helpful team, nice canoë tours and great fishing sessions with our 5 and 6 year old sons who learned the basics thanks to Franklin, the nice and patient guide. We recommend it to families who like nature !

I just returned from Rio Indio and I have to say it was an amazing experience. The lodge itself is built on a grand scale with tropical hardwoods and my room was both spacious and immaculately clean. The setting on Morgan Lagoon is beautiful and utterly tranquil. Special mention has to be made of the food, which was plentiful and outstanding. We ate like kings and the lodge's location made it easy to boat back in for lunch with minimal time lost fishing. Our guide, Porfirio, was a very skilled boat driver who never stopped working to find us fish. I must also recognize Alfredo, the lodge manager, who was relentless in ensuring we had everything we needed and a superb dinner companion. Prior to going I heard a lot of concerns about safety in Nicaragua. As a retired cop I can say I never saw any cause for concern. Transiting through Costa Rica avoids potential issues in Managua and the lodge is in a remote area far from political disturbances. You pass through army checkpoints on the river and at the border with no issues. We travelled into the lodge by chartered plane and went out via the river and then an Uber for the 4 hr drive into San Juan. I highly recommend this as it gives you a bird's eye view of the coffee and banana plantations and then you get a chance to see even more of the country from the water. Weather in November can be variable, pack your best rain gear because all that rainforest isn't a coincidence! Can't wait to return and get back to tarpon fishing!

Great trip for me and my boy into the jungle. Owners were accommodating. Guides were knowledgeable and hilarious. A great fishing experience all around with world class amenities. The meals and rum bar were a welcome addition after a long day on the water. Highly recommended.

I stayed at the Rio Indio lodge in June of 2019 and was amazed. The hosts and staff were amazing, the lodging was beautiful and in the heart of the rainforest. Fishing was awesome and the wildlife was everywhere. Close up encounters with sloths, monkeys, birds, frogs and even crocodile sightings. The food was 5 star and unbelievably fresh. And the hospitality and service was among the best I have ever had. Highly recommend this resort
