Prepare to be amazed by this excellent experience.

Take the perfect location for seeing Snowdonia and touring North Wales, add a stunning position between a slate-quarried mountain and a large hydro-electric reservoir, on the outskirts of a traditional Welsh village.

So far so good. Now put a beautiful, large, slate-built house in this place, add all the features to make it energy efficient with zero carbon emissions, add some cleverly built accommodation to the grounds,

Add an owner with pride and expertise in modern energy technology, throw in a wide array of highly deserved awards, and there you have a pretty good overview of this excellent guest house accommodation

Highly recommended !

Thanks for great review. Pleased you appreciated what we are trying to do. Some guest do not notice the eco bits and that by its self should be a accolade that we are getting things right. Look forward to you having a return visit

The Bryn Elltyd Guest house is the perfect place to stay with a family. We stayed for 7 days and wanted to stay even longer. We went on so many strolls around the area i’m very sad they’re over. The House was convenient for us as its right next to Zip World and not so far from Bangor, Abersoch and Porthmadog. This is the second year the family have returned however first timers for us but i’m more than sure were going to book again. Theres a fantastic cycling route up the mountains to the dam, we even climbed the hole! The hosts were very welcoming, they left essentials such as Bread and Milk which I thought was a lovely touch. My family stayed in the House itself where myself and my partner stayed in the Hobbit. The hobbit is PERFECT for couples! Bed was very comfortable and the wet room was quite big. The views from the room were incredible, the one evening it was pouring down and you could see the water running off the mountains it was like something you would see in a movie.
Thankyou once again for your hosting!

I was in Blaenau and needed to charge my EV.
I called Bryn Elltyd and spoke with John who was super helpful and explained that all of his energy is generated on site from renewable sources. He allows non residents to charge their electric cars on site for a very reasonable fee if the chargers aren't needed by residents.

Thanks a million John....

Our stay was perfect, the location of the property is in the perfect situation, within an hour to beaches, and on the door step of snowdon.
Boosted by having one of the UK’s top cycling hills climbs, couples with perfect walking routes.

The hosts were excellent, very helpful and informative, helped us with the local area, things to do, even making suggestion for all different age groups.

The property was ideal, all beds were comfy, kitchen well equipped, more than enough space for everyone.

Would highly recommend and definitely will be going back.

Bryn Elltyd is in a fabulous location with wonderful mountain views, & the Blaenau Ffestiniog trains run near to the house. Easy or adventurous walks & bike rides can start from the house, & all the adventures in Blaenau Ffestiniog are minutes away by car. The house is always at the right temperature, thanks to all the insulation & eco-friendly power.

SO AMAZING that this was our second year running, as a family of 8 we absolutely love it here, we hired the whole house and had family in the hobbit annex, we stayed for a week as last time just was not long enough, there is so much to explore. Views are spectacular. Every night we went out to explore the surroundings, even with 3 children the walks were very pleasant.
Day one when we arrived it was raining, this was not going to stop us, so we went to Porthmadog a small 20 minute drive to millets an outdoor shop and kitted ourselves up with waterproofs and walking boots ready to venture on :D
Upon arrival John was very welcoming and full of knowledge, he recommended lots to do, and ALL were very worth it, we hiked up to the hole in the mountain behind the house (even with a 5 year old) We all loved it, so rewarding and the views are just incredible. John also recommended an 80ft waterfall in Llan Ffestiniog which was amazing too.
We will definitely be returning again next year if you'll have us haha!
Thank you John and wife for another great holiday!

My partner and I visited for a long weekend and we can’t recommend John and Celia’s place highly enough. We stayed in the old “pig sty” which was perfect for our requirements. It was quiet and natural (with a green roof), and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning. The extensive garden is lovely, we enjoyed eating our breakfast on the little hill above the accommodation and stargazing at night (the sky was very dark) was truly magical. John and Celia are genuinely concerned about environmental issues and their commitment to looking after the planet is evident throughout their accommodation. We can’t wait to return!

Bryn Elltyd Guest house is the perfect place to stay with a family. The garden is beautiful with flowers, benches, even a little stream running through it. My children absolutely loved it. We stayed for 10 days and hated to leave. So many walks and views right out of the back door, we will go back!! On the sunny days we took short rides to Snowdon, Tryfan, Betws-y-Coed, Harlech, and all around very convenient. We also just took simple walks around for some equally amazing views. On rainy days, it was nice to stay inside and play games or just watch the waterfalls around get stronger. Very idyllic place. Quiet, beautiful, comfortable and carbon neutral. Everything was done well and done the right way!

We will definitely go back and recommend to everyone!

Cozy, charming place, eco-friendly, surrounded by flower gardens, a stream, picnic tables on the hill overlooking all this beauty: waterfalls, nature! Authentic experience of nature and living together with nature. Hosts are super friendly! Walking and hiking trails right at your reach! We had the most amazing 4 days there, relaxing, beautiful, fresh and a great get away from the city. Impressive house with electric chargers, solar roofs, etc. There is a fun breakfast restaurant/cafe 3 minutes walk! Great villages to reach and attractions area also nearby. Couldn't recommend more! My husband and I stayed in the Hobbit House :) Very charming and cute.

Well behaved dogs welcome. we have two detached outside rooms, lined with cosy ships wool and turf roofs. We have duck free ranging on site so we ask dogs to be on a lead. Gated locked tarmac road with kissing gate is at side of property with no sheep and a hunk of hill to run the dogs on. Yes we have room on those dates. Best to use our email check 3 times a day at Bryn Elltyd John
