We had a wonderful stay at Xandubeachvilla a few weeks ago (March/April). I definitely recommend it if you're planning a vacation in Sri Lanka. The house - which is lovely and tastefully furnished - is just a stone's throw away from the beach, located in the small village of Ahangama, one of the few left unspoiled by tourists in southwest Sri Lanka. Actually, the beach in front of Xandu is great for snorkeling (lots of colourful fishes), and if you want to swim/dive you just have to walk a couple of minutes further along the beach. The big pro? You feel like you're in your own wild private beach (perfect for a night swim - must try!!). There's not much sand to lay down your towel but who needs that when it's so damn hot and you have such a beautiful warm ocean to bathe in? Anyway, if you want to enjoy a typical relaxed day on the beach, just go to Kabalana Beach (5 minutes by bus or 15 minutes walking), and you'll have a big tropical postcard beach (almost) all for yourself - to toast in the sun, go for a run or build castles in the sand with the kids. I definitely recommend staying in Xandu over any other place in a more touristic village nearby like Unawatuna or Hikkaduwa (unless you really love russian tourists). Furthermore, Filipe and Alexandre are such wonderful hosts that really make you feel at home. Just tell them what you would like to do/visit/eat and they'll provide for you (did I mentioned the delicious home made bread at breakfast?). Also, if you're a fan of Ayurvedic massage (it's amazing!!!), you can even enjoy your massage in Xandu's big fenced garden - which was very convenient for us, because we travelled with kids and they could play safely while we relaxed. For us it was perfect!!

After an intense week of temples and culture, the Xandu Beach Villa was everything we needed and more. It was quite simply paradise. Situated directly on a beautiful small beach, the Villa - itself a very charming colonial style building, tastefully decorated and maintained - is perfect to unwind, relax and endulge. Felipe and Alexander set new standards for hospitality and warmth, not to mention cuisine. Both vegetarian and otherwise, from breakfast through to dinner, the food at Xandu Villa is nothing short of delicious. By far the hotel that stands out from our 14 day tour of Sri Lanka.

Beautifully designed villa right by the Sea with a big garden, tall palm trees and a very nice terrace. The owners are perfect hosts and offer a huge breakfast and fresh baked bread every morning. Dinners include fish directly from the fishermen who live next door and also a very good vegetarian cuisine. The atmosphere is totally relaxed whilst we got every support to organise trips around the area or find nice souvenirs. Totally recommended!

Hi there, Definitely the best guest house we have ever done in Sri Lanka so far! The villa was traditionnally renovated with a designer touch. Filipe and Alexandre are going to make everything to feel good and cooking five stars meals (and i am very serious :). The place is located just 5 min Tuk-Tuk from best surfing spot of south Sri Lanka (coconut, plantation etc.) and even better, you can directly access by the garden to a secret surf spot. Miss that place! Vincent
