Hotel Elephant Reach in Yala is often lauded for its spacious and comfortable rooms, though there are occasional remarks about soundproofing and cleanliness. The service is generally seen as attentive and hospitable, despite a few reports of inconsistency. While the inviting atmosphere and beautiful layout with jungle plants and a pool are highlights for guests, opinions on value are divided, with some unexpected charges marring the experience.
Cleanliness is a strong point here, with the swimming pool and grounds being well-kept. Amenities like the pool are appreciated, but some guests suggest the need for improvements, including more reliable hot water.

Detailed Reviews
Elephant Reach is the perfect location, close to Yala National park. Many travel hours for this safari, the hotel is only 20 minutes away.
The rooms are clean and spacious, all situated around a grassy area with the pool centre stage. The mattresses are very comfortable.
The food is varied, a good quality and staff are attentive. Service isn’t flawless, but there are ready smiles and authentic hospitality.
We were there for two days as a couple and enjoyed our stay. However groups do dominate the restaurant and when running at capacity there was a shortage of plates and some tureens empty of food. But as a big positive, my wife is allergic to hot food and the chef cooked her personal pasta dishes. This was top notch service we appreciated.

A really lovely tranquil hotel located only about 15min drive from the Yala NP entry gate.
Beautiful pool and grounds. Cute bungalow style rooms with cold aircon and very friendly staff. We were travelling as 4 friends and all rooms interconnect. Meals are quite cheap and catered for both western and local cuisine. Only about 5min into a local town.
Definitely worth a stay

The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful and the pool is beautiful. The rooms could do with an upgrade, very poor sound proofing and the shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold. During the dining experience all the staff seemed to be worried about was getting the bill to be signed. Some staff were very pushy for reviews being asked at every moment to write a review.

The beds and room were really comfortable. The hotel pool was really nice and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet.
We did feel quite let down when we checked out as we were hit by an unexpected charge. When we arrived we spoke to one of the staff who explained that we could book on for a half day safari for one cost and they would sort it, so we agreed with the belief that was the cost.
When we went on the safari the driver asked for an amount which we paid, believing we had then covered the cost. We didn't expect to then be asked for another cost from the hotel which doubled what we paid when we checked out. We were happy to pay for the safari as we wanted to go for it but we were upset by the unexpected costs and the lack of communication around the prices.
It is a shame because otherwise we enjoyed our chalet and use of the pool and felt this but a damper on it all.

**A Serene Escape with Exceptional Service**
Our stay at Hotel Elephant Reach Yela has been nothing short of wonderful. The hotel's setting amidst lush trees and natural beauty creates a truly serene atmosphere, perfect for relaxation.
We arrived late and requested an upgrade at the reception, and to our delight, the staff were incredibly accommodating and made it happen without hesitation by Miss Shakya and Miss Naduni.
Being a pure vegetarian family, we were initially concerned about the limited vegetarian options at the dinner buffet. However, the real hero of our stay, Sampath, came to our rescue. He was extremely responsive to our concern and quickly prepared a delicious fried rice well prepared by sheff Sandeepa that perfectly met our needs.
The genuine care and quick action of the staff made our experience even more special. We highly recommend Hotel Elephant Reach Yela to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with outstanding hospitality

We have been touring Sri Lanka for 2 weeks and have stayed at various 4* and 5* hotels and Elephant Reach has by far been the worst. We cannot understand how it has a 4* rating. Bad rooms, average food and they did not cater for vegetarians even though we had specified. The manageress had a don’t care attitude even when we approached her.

We were expecting a better stay, accommodation and food for a supposed 4-star hotel. Instead, we were welcomed with a dinner of uncooked pasta which I sent back twice and they still continued to serve it. Furthermore, where you thought you could escape that tragedy and relax in your room, think again, the room looked dirty and the bathroom had mold on the roof and spiderwebs on the window. I could not sleep well thinking of any other creepy crawlies that could’ve entered the room from the corridor or the bathroom window which never closed. Last, but not the least, as we were staying one night, we were packing to check out wayy before the check-out time, however, we had someone knocking on the door every 5 mins asking us to give them our bags to check out - this was confusing because we hadn’t called reception to send anyone to collect our bags. Our last mins in the room and hotels were extremely rushed as they panicked us into checking out earlier than we wanted to.
Overall, I would not recommend this place for your stay. Use your money to stay at a better “4-star” hotel.

If elephants reached this safari lodge they would have turned back sharp ish. It is a tired lodge with the only nod to being a safari lodge are a few faded cheap animal prints, some just propped up on the floor. Whilst rooms are clean but basic. Swimming pool is large and gardens well maintained. However if your looking for a lounger cushion or pool towel you may as well ask an elusive elephant in Yalla, your will probably get the same non committed response in the hope you just go away.
Unlike the rooms the bland dining room’s floor had clearly not been cleaned for some time. However that was nothing compared to the dirt and grime in the staff area or room above. I chose just to have the one breakfast there.

We had a delightful stay at Resort Elephant Reach Yala, which is approximately 25 minutes away from Yala Safari. The staff arranged our vehicle for the safari and provided us with packed food. The manager, in particular, stood out for being incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was special. The food was exceptional, and dinner was accompanied by some live music. Highly recommended for those seeking a relaxing retreat.

We spent one night at Elephant Reach as part of our visit to Yala National Park and I so wish we could have stayed longer! What a lovely place. The rooms were clean and spacious, already set up with an extra bed for our kiddo. Check-in was easy, all staff members were very attentive and kind. We had a short window of time before our safari departure and the restaurant was able to quickly whip up some food for us. After the safari, we had a lovely time at the pool which was clean and well-maintained with towel service. Buffet dinner was great, and we particularly enjoyed the local dishes and desserts. My only suggestion would be to please label which dishes are vegetarian--although there were plenty of options for us, it was difficult to tell in some cases which were veg.
