I booked this stay months in advance to fin on arrival that there was a charity music gig on. The lady told me that this would be going on till there early hours and it was right outside our window (It went on until 1.30am) I was then advised because of this there was no food on in the restaurant... We visited on our way home from a holiday as we had a hungry 6 year old and a screaming baby in the car. Glad we did as it made for a relaxing break that felt like it was still part of the holiday. Really welcoming staff lots of choice of food. Service was timely. Beautiful garden with lots of... More

Last May a friend and us met up at the Chequers Inn and I immediately noticed the cleanliness of the Pub. As we are all O.A.P's there was a fantastic offer, 2 courses for £8.95. There was plenty of choice and the food was beautifully presented and freshly cooked. I recommended it to a friend, and she visited last week... More

1st time visiting this pub, was passing by so called in for Sunday lunch. Unfriendly welcome at the bar but we persevered, wish we hadn't. The sides and veg were really good but the beef was awful, full of fat, and nasty bits that were totally inedible. When the waitress asked if we were enjoying the meal, I showed her... More

Stopped here after visiting a nearby national trust property. Staff very nice. Ordered the beef roast dinner. Meat initially came up abit pink which neither of us like so asked for meat more well done. This request was handled fine. The meat though was a big disapointment. Fatty and sineuwy in places and tough to cut. Also had peppercorns on... More

Me and hubby visited The Chequers after having travelling from Essex to play a round of golf at the local golf course. We were thirsty and hungry and found this establishment by accident and were so pleased we did! We both had the lasagne, salad and chips and it was tasty and very filling! We were made very welcome which... More

Called in at lunch time on our way home from Scotney Castle . The pub was busy but we were welcomed warmly by the two ladies waiting on the tables. Our meal was very good indeed, so reasonably priced, but what really made it was how well the ladies served all their customers. They missed nothing and were always on... More

Enjoyed a great roast beef dinner with my wife sitting in the secluded and tranquil riverside garden. Lots of seating and friendly service. Good pint of Whitstable Ale but other ales had run out. Will certainly be going again. The garden also has a play area for families with young children.
