Stayed overnight as a birthday treat whilst travelling across the Garden Route. Every aspect of the stay was excellent. Lovely room with lots of character and thoughtful detail. Warm welcome and great friendly service. The food at both dinner and breakfast was fantastic. The hosts do hospitality very well. The setting is great and there is opportunity to learn about... We just returned from a trip to South Africa and stayed overnight at this place. This was a pleasant surprise; the 2 bedroom cottage was well finished with full kitchen. Excellent view. Room heating. Owner available on tap. Lovely breakfast. We have a morning farm trip which was fun. They have springbuk skins on sale but we couldn't buy. Later... More

I can't say enough about our stay here. Every one was so friendly and caring. The food.... Wow. I'm sure I put on a good couple pounds haha. Home cooked deliciousness. Tried ostrich and quite enjoyed it! The quest rooms were clean and quaint and absolutely darling. Can't wait to come back.

My 12 year old girls are hard to please, but the minute I drove through the gate they loved it. The girls have their own bedrooms, a fireplace and farm cat that moved in when we arrived. The meals were superb - far better fresh produce and taste than one could ever have in a city. The farm tour provided... More

This lovely farm was recommended by some friends from Cape Town who stayed there some years ago, while on a cycling tour. We loved it too. The owner was extremely friendly and chatty and passionate about the work he does on the farm. The cottage was very comfortable and homely, the food, exceptional (loved the ostridge steak, as well as... More

This was the third time we have stayed at Skeiding, and it was easily as good as the first two. This is an exceptional guest farm. We had the 'Ossie the Ostrich' room in the main farm house, which opens through wooden french doors onto the stoep along the front of the house - edged with scented roses and with... More

One of the best guest farms we've ever visited. Friendly, hospitable owners. Most divine dinner, cottage immaculate and homely. Beautifully furnished. Great views. I'll recommend this to anyone. So glad we stayed over to break our journey to Plettenberg Bay.

Extremely well run establishment with guests well looked after. Bedrooms have all the facilities with nice personal touches. Breakfasts are all you would ever want and evening meals are excellent. Too far to travel for an alternative so they have to be good

Our family of seven visited twice recently, for three days in all. Skeiding really has got it right for overnight or longer stays. We've slept in the Nguni cottage and in Ossie and Guinea Fowl - all are lovely and comfortable, with all kinds of small luxury touches which make the difference. The meals are really excellent, and we are... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Skeiding is one of those places that you fall in love with for no reason ... maybe it's the absolute peace and tranquillity or the panoramic views of the Langeberg mountains or the bright stars at night or the mouth watering food or the goodness of being close to nature ... that makes you want to come back. Situated on high, open, rolling terrain you experience the feeling of freedom and being kind of alone with no neighbour in sight. Skeiding is a working grain, sheep, ostrich and Nguni farm … close to the N2 and halfway (250 km) between Cape Town and Knysna. This makes us the ideal stopover. A friendly family farm, an education for city slickers, a place to relax and enjoy panoramic mountain views as the farm is situated on high, open rolling terrain. We Neels and Anné-Lize is two energetic people who love life …you need to be to run a farm, a young family (Anné and Pieter), two dogs (Dixie and Jessie), a cat (Tierkat) and a guesthouse in the same lifetime.Spoil yourself and stay Bed & Breakfast or even better, have dinner. Our sumptuous farm breakfast include : a plate of fruit in season, at least a dozen homemade preserves and jams, freshly baked bread, vetkoek ( a traditional farm fried bread), a cheese platter, cereals, yogurt, eggs and also a choice between ostrich and pork bacon..Enjoy home cooked country cuisine prepared by Anné-Lize and her small team of able and enthusiastic assistants. Neels is the meat “chef” on the open fire, unless farm work calls him away. A three course ... more   less
