Good clean, comfortable hotel with really nice, helpful staff. Some of the décor maybe needs to be refreshed but we definitely enjoyed our visit. Very good restaurant too. Interesting walk in the garden and we loved the hotel and garden cats! Only downside - an awkward turn off the main road to get up here.
We stayed here for three nights and had a WARM WELCOME by the young receptionists. The rooms are cosy and the walls are painted with birds. We enjoyed breakfast with the nice gentleman who's helping everybody. I don't even know he is the owner. We enjoyed mostly the 12 km from the hotel along the Charente to the village of Cognac. JUST GREAT. We didnot like the food : the fish with the artichauts was overcooked and my wife had the vegetarian plate. Only the dessert was very good. What you cannot accept is the roomcleaners SMOKING on the firestaircase. It stinks.
We stayed in this hotel for one night and thought the actual hotel was beautiful. There is free parking outside, and the rooms are quite spacious and clean. I would definitely stay in the hotel again. However, the restaurant service was terrible. We don't speak french, and that's okay. Our server didn't speak english, and that is also okay. We didn't expect our server to speak english but they didn't even try and communicate with us. We were seated by some gesturing and left to our own devices. A little while later the server came back and placed menus on our table without even making eye contact or acknowledging us. Only food menus, no drinks. Water wasn't even offered. For what is a nice restaurant, I at least expected someone to speak to us in french. We ended up leaving before ordering as we we felt uncomfortable sitting there, basically invisible for 10 minutes.…
Great location, with good views over surrounding countryside. Helpful and friendly staff serving first class food. An excellent wine list featuring local growers and an extensive selection of Cognacs.
I am only reviewing the hotel and restaurant. The weather was poor so didn’t see the grounds and the rain had leaked into the spa.The hotel is in need of a refurbishment. The rooms are very tired and I’m afraid to say not all that clean. The shower/bath I did not want to linger in at all. We had to ask for towels as you were given one each of the tiniest thinnest towels I’ve seen in a long time. The hotel decor is a mixture of street art and old French ! The bar is pleasant enough as is the restaurant although as the waiter said the food “it is a little different” very ! It was a very limited menu but the wine choice is excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
