The hotel is handy for visiting Northumberland and close to local amenities. The restaurant offered good food at a reasonable price. Staff were welcoming but there was no-one on Reception at ground level and the business of check-in was carried out at the bar. Breakfast was adequate and a choice of cooked or continental. Bed linen and towels were clean... More

Just returned from a two night break with friends. I'm very glad that I didn't read the previous reviews before we went. We stayed in a superior room which was fine . Clean room and a very comfortable bed. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening and had an excellent meal. The breakfast was served quickly and was... More

The Hotel was very nice and the room was great and the location is excellent. The breakfast is excellent and the staff are very nice. It was easy to find a parking space for my car in the hotel car park and Rothbury is a lovely town.

The good points. Good location, Rothbury is very nice. One pleasant young man in the bar/restaurant. One helpful lady deputy manager, who was very apologetic that our stay had been such a bad one. Nice evening meal in a pleasant dining area. Arrived to unmanned reception area, we had to go and find someone in order to check in. Checked... More

I usually like to look for positives so...pleasant room, lovely view from attic window, comfy bed, easy parking, delicious full Northumbrian breakfast BUT......politely asked to wait whilst a table was set for us in breakfast room but were left for at least 15 mins as manager(?) left that task to check someone out. By which time, no cups, no coffee,... More

We stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago and booked in for a week in a twin room. I don't wish to detail every point that made the stay disappointing but needless to say we checked out after 2 nights. The manager needs to have more customer focus and see the hotel from the eyes of his customers. He certainly... More

Where do I start. We arrived on the Friday and when shown our room we found it difficult to negotiate past the telly. The hot tap in the bathroom nearly came off in my hand. The shower control actually came out of the wall!! . The toilet was directly behind the door too. Breakfast was cold when it arrived. The... More

The room appeared fine on arrival, but we couldn't turn the heating down or leave the window open because the room was above the kitchen and the fans were too noisy. The drains in the en suite became so offensive we had to ask to change rooms but none were available. The hotel staff cleared the drains immediately and were... More

Booked a long weekend in Northumberland at short notice. This hotel was a good price for 3 star. There was no one on reception when we arrived so followed the sign to the dining room. The female member of staff was efficient but not particularly friendly. I was surprised that there was no mention of the restaurant in the hotel,... More
