Hotel Aak - Norway`s first tourist hotel - is situated in beautiful environment, surrounded by amazing mountains and nature. The Hotel dates back to the 19th century, when mountaineering was a new activity and high peaks were unconquered. For decades, the hotel itself was a draw to mountaineers.

Weekend stay with friends. The hotel has everything that you want for a touring weekend in the mountains. Good beds, great breakfast and amazing dinner. The people working there are great! Aak also holds trainings. We participated in a training on how to become a better Randonee skier. The training was conducted by the guy running the place. He was very knowledgable, calm and able to give instructions and feedback to a varied group. We had a great time and Aak can be recommended to anyone that wants a great place to stay while enjoying the great outdoors in Romsdalen.

A weekend at Aak hotel is definitely something I would recommend active people who enjoy great service and delicious meals. Cosy and nice – and at the same time, professional! We have being skiing, seeking for new peaks – excellently guided by the chef of the house. We will be back!

Stayed here together with my mum for a conference we both went to in Åndalsnes in November. I thought I had booked a standard room, however when we arrived the super friendly receptionist told me the room type I booked unfortunately was no longer available due to a bigger group who wanted to stay close to each other, and as a compensation they would give us two 'smaller' rooms. In the end my mum and I got a spacious double room EACH and we shared a bathroom. Like a small apartment for ourselves. Super positive surprise! Beds were like heaven, shower was amazing, breakfast was perfect as we got a small personalised 'buffet' right in front of us on the table... When we were going for a drink in the evening the receptionist even offered to drive us! We kindly declined, but the fact that he offered shows the wonderful hospitality mindset of this hotel. I also love how it is a perfect representation of traditional Norwegian lifestyle and presents itself as a place to rest for hikers and explorers. Thank you for an amazing experience!

The people working the hotel were great. It has a nice lounge area. The hotel is old. The doors creak, the rooms lack air conditioning, the bathrooms are really small, the shower water goes all over the entire bathroom floor. The room temperature is too hard to control without AC and I slept poorly. Lots of road noise throughout the night as trucks drive past. The breakfast was great compared to American hotels, although ultimately it was the worst breakfast of any of the hotels I stayed at during my week in Norway. The Thon hotels I stayed at, and the Best Western, had a huge breakfast selection. There is no elevator, so you have to carry bags up a spiral staircase. The room had no closet, no dresser, no drawers, no tv, no coat hangers, no desk. Some of the lights in the room were non-functional.
