Standing proudly against the backdrop of the majestic cliffs that give their name to the tranquil resort village of Los Gigantes ("The Giants"), the Royal Sun Resort is set on one of the cliffs' highest points, with unsurpassed views of the village, the charming marina, and the sea beyond. Quality is the hallmark of every aspect of the Royal Sun Resort, from the tasteful, designer-furnished apartments and the choice of on-site restaurants, to the level of the service offered by the friendly staff. Two swimming pools, one for children and one for adults, are set in the middle of the complex, with a sparkling waterfall flowing from one to the other and superb panoramic views from their surrounding sunbathing terraces. Next to the swimming pools is the pool bar "Oasis Abraxas", supplying the perfect refreshments to keep you cool whilst sunbathing. From elegant dining in "Aqua" restaurant, managed by Lucas Maes, one of the prestigious Canarian chefs, to thematic buffets in the sophisticated "Regency" restaurant with its splendid views, the range of restaurants within the complex serves every taste. For evening entertainment, try the impressive "Imperial" bar and lounge, complete with an entertainment area where regular shows take place. If you like a bit of activity, the modern gym and the aerobics room should keep you busy. One hundred and twenty apartments are spread over six floors, linked by corridors and lifts. There one-bedroom, two-bedrooms and three-bedrooms apartments, all spacious and comfortable with designer furnishings including air conditioning in lounge areas, satellite flat screen TV, direct dial telephone, free wifi, and a complete kitchen. Wonderful view from the huge balcony, apartment perfectly clean! We had the romantic package - nicely decorated bedroom, a great bubbly, top chocolates and fresh fruits were waiting for us. We had the time of our life! The bathrobes were so fluffy, the bathroom very big. It was the highlight of our trip.

Wonderful hotel. Very friendly , helpful staff. Wonderful spacious apartments. Huge balconies (like another room) with amazing views you never tire of. Lots a great restaurants and patisseries within los gigantes within a leisurely walk. The walk back up is not quite as leisurely but only a 5€ taxi ride. Have stayed here 5 times and already booked to go back next year .

Lovely hotel with great views and great food. Lots of choice at the buffet both for breakfast and evening meal. The staff are very friendly and it’s nice to see the same staff every year - must be good if they stay!!! The rooms are spacious and the huge private sun terrace with guaranteed sea views are a real draw for us!! Have been 3 times now and have booked to go back next year!!

My husband and I have just returned from a gorgeous and very relaxing break here! Overall, we were very impressed with the views, meal choices, cleanliness and size of the balcony! Absolutely enormous as is the 1 bed apartment!!The staff are very friendly particularly the animation team and staff at dinner. The pool area was beautiful and we found the drinks reasonably priced. What was great was the fact that you CANNOT reserve sun-beds! Hooray, a hotel with sense!! No rushing in the morning. It was also lovely to have sun beds on the balcony which we found to be a sun trap and a smart TV in the apartment which meant we could listen to background music.. The on site shop had everything you needed if you fancied a snack etc… Breakfast was fabulous each day, plenty of choice as was dinner. It was never very busy and the views were beautiful. Aqua restaurant was amazing and if you are half board you get 10 euros off per person. We are here twice! Superb food, staff, quality and presentation of food. We will definitely return at some point.

Very nice staff. The flats are ok- the balconies are large and with a wonderful view towards La Gomera. Very clean apartments. The breakfast and dinner are very good with good variety of food- both cold and warm dishes. We have visited The Royal Sun for many years and we always look forward to come back.

Writing a review for the Royal Sun Resort is always difficult for two main reasons. The first is that, if the review is too good it then becomes an attractive place to go and then our special hideaway is known and it gets difficult to book back in - and that would be a nightmare! The second reason is that, if it is given the praise that it deserves, readers will think that nowhere can be that good!! Well, after 18 brilliant, relaxing nights in a deluxe apartment, being fed excellent food by superb staff we cannot wait to return for yet another stay. So, thank you Royal Sun and your staff, from the front desk, to the housekeepers, to the Regency Restaurant waiting and catering teams for always making us feel welcome and valued.

Third visit this year, so feel qualified to comment on here. Holidays are a strange thing, one man's meat is another mans poison, depends what you're looking for.  If you're looking for a quiet place to 'fly 'n' flop', this is the one. It's a solid 3 star that can currently be had for around £100/night, best deals on the hotels own website. The hotel seems to allow 'one night only' bookings, and this can block someone wishing to book a full week stay. Transfers through the hotel are a stiff €99 one way, but for that you can get a car for a coupla days from the ever reliable Cicar at the airport, run round, do all your shopping etc. and then drop it at the Los Gigantes office. Worked great for us.  The standard rooms on floors 1-3 are perhaps the best all round value. The larger 2/3 bed rooms on 6 are much more expensive, the balconies are smaller - the hot tubs take up a lot of space too, and are around £40 a day more.  We tried one with a hot tub once but only used it half a dozen times, the novelty soon wore off. The single aircon unit in the lounge is not quite up to the job in summer either, unless you're on the newly replaced sofa beds directly under it. The luxury apartments on 5 are OK, but again, the hot tub restricts outside space and the showers are smaller due to having a bath also.  The hotel is of an unusual design, too. There's no real roof on the hotel, just a canopy, so when it rains floor 5 gets flooded, however it's quickly attended to by the staff. There are ventilation shafts spaced along the corridors and these, along with everything being tiled, these transmit a LOT of noise. Unlike the other big players in this town, Tui Blue and Barcelo Santiago it's not 'adults only', and you will get laydees with screaming baybees and bratty kids running around, transmitting the noise to every other floor.  It can feel like the ceilings coming in at times, and the corridors being regarded by some families as some kind of adventure playground.  Not much the hotel can do about this, they're not responsible for policing other peoples kids.  This may or may not be your cup of tea but I'd highly recommended avoiding the hotel during kids holidays, July/August etc.  Also, If you're on floor 4 or 5 under the hot tub upstairs be aware these tubs 'self clean' at 6am and the vibrations come through the ceiling for 15 mins or so. Like I said earlier, floors 1-3 are the best. Cheaper, great views, biggest balconies.  Noticed people on here complaining about the food being cold, may be right, but if you get in there from the off you'll be OK, if you rock up after 10am might be a different story.  Portion sizes in the evening can be on the small size though.  Self catering may be the way to go.  There's an excellent mini market at the far end of the hotel, selling all you need, really good.  There's also a Lidl about 10 minutes walk away but carrying it all back can be a real workout.  This is a 'keep fit' hotel anyway - we're in our sixties and walked everywhere and back on an evening, 15 minute's into the village, 30 minutes down to Puerto Santiago, soon get used to it.  Some complaints on here about the evening entertainment being rubbish also.  Not wrong, it's basically glorified karaoke but it's more or less the same everywhere in town - the hotels don't seem to want to pay more than 100 euros for a turn, if it's a 3 piece band there's a lot of mouths to feed, it's tough being an act on this island. Only places we found with good entertainment were the Wine Terrace (Tony O, Folklore), Richardsons (Foxy Roxy), Domingoes (various) and the '60's Bar (duo).  Route 66 used to be good, but seem to have cut back on things recently, can't really be called a 'rock bar' anymore.  There's a bus stop along the street outside the Italian restaurant, 473, takes you all the way down the coast to Los Christianos for €4.80 but takes around 2 hours one way.  The staff are pretty good, friendly and approachable - the cleaners are some of the best we've ever come across and a small show of appreciation goes a long way.  For the price point, it's well worth a visit - not everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly ours.
